Great app

This app is great for presentations. After struggling with standard text editing apps and having to scroll while speaking, I finally can do it like a pro with Prompster and productively enjoy my iPad.

Nice, needs some improvement

Great idea, and a good start!

The start/stop button is way, way too small and hard to hit when you're speaking. Make it bigger or, as others have suggested, have start/stop be a screen tap.

Also, is it just me, or is the slowest speed setting not slow enough? I was rushing my presentation to keep up with the words, and ended up having to stop/start throughout, or else the words would get away from me. A slower setting would be great!

Very useful app

The app is indeed very useful when making presentations or speeches. I especially like the import document and scroll speed features. Did not have any trouble importing a text document as explained in the sample which comes with the app.

In short a nice productive app.

Great for Sunday sermons

This has been a great app to use for messages on Sunday mornings. I haven't experienced the crashing at all. I would love to see the start/stop by touching anywhere on the screen feature added!

Not worth it

I bought this and it was awful... Couldn't make the text big enough and the start button was hard to hit during a presentation... Why not just make it pause and start by touching the screen. By the way after a couple days use... It wouldn't even stay running... Crashed over and over.. So I deleted it and downloaded the free prompter program.. Wish I would have done that from the beginning.

Good App, great with a few changes

I have used a few Mac based prompting programs. Prompster is clean, simple and straightforward. A few important changes could make it great!

1. When switching between editor and prompter, return to where you left off. The screen scrolling is sluggish and takes a long time to reach your previous place.

2. Speed button resets to one after each return to the editor. The speed button is very small and not that responsive to the touch.

3. Allow for editing within the prompter. This would solve the first two problems and make this a great app.

All in all, this is a square deal for a useful app.

Good start, but needs more...

My wish list would include ability to import more than txt file, like .pdf and Word files and Pages files. Also, ability to choose background and text colors, i.e., black on white, black on green, blue on white, etc. and maybe add a brightness selector for dimly or brightly lit rooms. Also, the timer(s) need to be larger, give the ability to choose timer size, just like font size. I will be using this app for my next speaking engagement and hope it will make me as good as Obama :-) I'm expecting improvements from the developer as a reward for being an early purchaser of this app. Thanks for the work so far...

This could be made great for musicians

I'm giving it 5 stars for the app type, but I'm begging the developer to make some (probably complicated, I know) changes to make this the IDEAL music display. You're bringing in speakers now, but musicians need something similar and there are LOTS of us.

First, add the ability to display .jpg graphic files or PDF files in a scrolling stream like the prompter. Music charts would look great scrolling up at the right speed. Works okay now for tabs or chords, but I dream of scrolling full notation.

Add a sturdy foot pedal allowing tap/double-tap to increase/decrease speed. Speakers might like this as well. Less obtrusive than looking down and finding the slow button.

Add another 10 speed levels. Some songs are fast and heavily notated.

Like I said, I'm begging, devs. The only app I can find close to what I describe seems to be blackmail-ware that wants an arm and a leg to use my *own* documents. You can even make money on hardware!
