Description of The Quest Classic

The Quest Classic - Cursed Chess Set is an expansion to The Quest Classic, a beautifully hand-drawn, immersive and enchanting world full of exciting challenges. After enabling the expansion, you can explore new areas and quests. However, if you don't have The Quest Classic, you can also play the expansion as a standalone game. There has been a severe mana leak in the world that has left all beings stripped of power. You can plug the leak but can't reverse the damage that has already happened. Your mission, beyond plugging the mana leak, is to find and destroy the evil creature who captured the King's two landmark towers so he could magically add them to his cursed chess set as rooks. When he has succeeded in capturing the king and queen to complete his cursed chess set, he will be able to summon a demon that will give him ultimate power in this world. Destroy him and the demon before he can complete the ritual! This expansion is designed for fresh characters. It's highly recommended that you start a new character to fully enjoy it. To access the new areas (not applicable if you are playing the expansion standalone), go to Matras harbor and talk to captain Verra, then select "Cursed" as your travel destination. For those who would like to play with an existing higher level character, there is a high level dungeon for a challenge. The Quest Classic - Cursed Chess Set has been developed by Zarista Games (www.catacomber.com) and was adapted to iPhone by Redshift.

  • Great So Far

  • Can't get out of prison

Good expansion really nice loot but when u face the second dead soul i keep getting 1 shotted by his magic attack how do I continue plz help
  • Not as funny or fun as it thinks it is.

I love The Quest. It is vast, open, and well-realized. It is a fantasy world of colorful characters written with consistency and style.

This expansion, on the other hand, is a garish, uneven, and silly in a stupid, unprofessional way. The writing is broad, constantly breaking the fourth wall and attempting humor that falls completely flat. The environments feel forced and internally inconsistent. You routinely are corralled into situations with no warning or context. Wake up in an abandoned prison cell surrounded by 5K+ armor and weapons items. Knock on a door and instantly become a criminal. Knock on another door and receive a one-time chance to purchase a medical license (?) for 3K. Touch an idol and suddenly a robber gives you 1K.

Did I mention that there are quests based around three blind mice? Or that the starting area is a steam bath and inn named Dante's Inferno? Or that seemingly every piece of land is littered with potions, keys, and weapons just scattered on the ground for your taking? Or that the massive imbalance and ridiculousness of this all serves to cheapen the main game's setting and provides items that completely break the balance of the main game?

I'm not only sorry I bought Cursed Chess Set, I'm deleting it from my copy of The Quest Gold and pretending that I never saw it.
