I’ve used it for the last two years to stay up-to-date. But I had a similar subscription to 3D Artist for years, until they decided to kill the app and I lost my whole library of content after the iPad they were stored on crapped out. Here’s hoping history is not repeating itself! Ps: if a developer happens to read this how about a feature to let subscribers send issue to their computers via air drop or something? ### 2/5 — Deleting my issues *2017-01-28* To add my voice to the previous reviewers. I too have been an iPad subscriber to 3D World with this app since it was first released. I'm on an iPad Pro with 128 GB of space. I have every issue since 2012 loaded on my iPad. Last night I fired up the app to see that there was a new issue. I also saw that the previous issue was no longer on my iPad. I downloaded both issues and began reading the new issue before going to sleep last night. This morning I flipped through my open apps and was able to see the app opened to the page I was on last night. When I selected the app the screen refreshed and then EVERY SINGLE ISSUE WAS GONE. EVERY. SINGLE. ISSUE. No I do not have auto-archive turned on. But it gets worse. If I pull up Settings > Storage Usage it states that the 3D World app is still taking up 12 GB of space on my iPad. That means that even though the app no longer sees the issues they ARE still on my iPad! Downloading a new issue made the storage amount go up, so now it appears there are two of the same issue on my iPad! So now I will be deleting the app and all of its data and reinstalling all of the issues to see what's going on. And no I did NOT update the iOS during all of this. It just happened for no apparent reason. This has happened in the past as well. I LOVE being able to read the issues digitally and not have to lug physical copies everywhere, but right now the app appears broken, or at the least flawed. ### 2/5 — Not loving the fact it deletes my downloads *2016-12-29* I have been subscribed for the last 3 years, I love every new issue that comes out and would recommended it to anyone wanting to learn 3D art. But for the last few weeks, it keeps on deleting all the issues that I download randomly out of no where. I don't have the auto archive turned on and every now and again, I just up and deletes every issue I have downloaded. It's getting to be extremely annoying. Please fix it. ### 2/5 — Great Magazine, mediocre app *2016-11-08* The magazine content is great, but why does the app not have a download all button to get all my magazines at once? Downloads always fail and "qued" never goes away when trying to download multiple, which always happens after an update. Annoyingly redundant and pointless "Are you sure you want to download?" dialog pops up for EVERY issue you want to download/restore. This is completely useless and gets in the way when there is an x next to the button that accomplishes the same thing without slowing you down. This is why we can't have nice things. We can purchase all back issues at a discount, great. Now prepare for endless tapping of "download/are you sure/download starting" messages for each one, and a few asking you to "buy" the magazine you already own, only to again say you already own this, would you like to download again for free? This app is clearly neglected and, unfortunately, a failed attempt at a good user experience. ### 4/5 — Great app! *2015-08-08* This is a great app. I love that the magazine has been adapted to use with a tablet, making it more dynamic and interactive than the print issues. Issue 179 was my first digital issue, and I really enjoy my new digital subscription. I love the ability to see the art without text once I have read the articles, and the bonus slideshow features are a pleasant extra. You don't get those in the physical copy of the magazine. The HD clarity of this app is amazing, and really amplifies the beauty and craftsmanship of the artwork. Awesome magazine and app. ...oh and it's half the price of a regular printed subscription. I was constantly looking for this mag in WHsmith and my local store always seems to be out. Plus 4.99 an issue you can't complain. They're always doing great deals too, like last week I got 5 issues for 69p each. You can’t download in bulk, only single magazine downloads, which requires screen prompts for each download. 2.There is no ability to split screen magazines with other iOS apps. I.e. so if wanting to use images for reference/or reading instructions from tutorials, you will need to flip back and forth between apps or take screen shots of the pages you want to use then use another app that can take advantage of multitasking options ### 1/5 — WASTE OF MONEY *2017-07-11* Magazines get deleted EVERY time the app closes. Downloading constantly fails. Whenever i open up either of them, they instantly crash. I am using the latest versions of these mag apps and i have an ipad 3rd gen. The print version comes with a cd of videos, tutorials & other goodies. There is no easy access to this content. Recently I have been getting repeated messages and advertisements that I could get a free issue. I got many errors saying that the app couldn't download the free issue. I looked online for help. The app's help file said to delete the app & reinstall which I did. So now my previous issues don't show up. Thanks 3D World, I'll stick with 3D Creative, it's cheaper and won't delete & forget my issues. ### 1/5 — Poor *2012-07-14* Despite having a subscription bought on the iPad, I am unable to access any magazine , my iPhone on the same account is fine and so are my other mags from future pub, I have even tried repurchasing a mag hoping it would pick up that I had purchased it, like an app...mistake I now own two copy's :( ### 1/5 — Love the mag, way too expensive *2012-02-04* Bought 1 issue as thought it would be great to view on an iPad, but one of the sole reasons for buying the normal mag is for the cd content. Would be ok for £1.50 *2012-01-17* Although there are obviously ads in print magazines, there's something really irritating about paying a lot for an app that shoves full-screen ads in your face. Given that 75% of the cover price for a print-mag goes to printing/distribution/retail-markup, there's no excuse for charging so much for a digital edition. At £1.50 they would be making a similar profit, and all this for a version with NO access to the file content. That really showed that they are on top of what the best VFX solutions for destruction out there. There are plenty of informative articles but the tutorials are very practical. I recommend this magazine especially if you are a beginner. I'm very much into learning using 3D software for matte painting and character design and this magazine has provided me ample examples of both.
