Other driving-hour apps pile on features you'll never use. This one does exactly what you need and nothing more: start a drive with one tap, and it automatically splits your time into daytime and nighttime hours using real sunrise and sunset data for your location. Pause and resume as needed. Every drive is saved to a simple, editable log. Share Progress With Family — No Login Required Want a parent and teen to see the same driving log? Create a Household Code right in the app and share it with a family member. No email, no password, no account to set up — just enter the code and both devices stay in sync automatically. Built first for Utah and Idaho families — the app comes pre-loaded with each state's exact hour requirements and a direct link to the state DMV page — but it works just as well for any state. Just enter your own state's requirements and the same daytime/nighttime tracking applies. Simple, intuitive, and easy to connect my device with my husband’s and son’s device to track his hours. My only feedback is to make it easier to cancel a drive once you start it (I started one on accident). But I did figure out how to delete a drive afterward which was easy. ### 5/5 — Easy to use *2026-09-05* Simple, user friendly, motivated me to get my hours in. ## Frequently asked questions about 40 Hours to Freedom ### What is 40 Hours to Freedom? 40 Hours to Freedom is a utility app designed to help teens and parents track supervised driving hours required for a learner's permit.
