  • At first touch...

When I first started the game I felt like I was engaged in a magical adventure. The gameplay was new and the aproach was very different. The world in the game was surprisingly intuitive for its simple graphics and 2D gameplay (which is freakin awsome, by the way) The controls were so unorthodox that I was stumbling into the game. But the contrtols are so simple that you oversee them by a longshot (this is not a flaw, btw, it is a strength since the best games in history have been awsome because of their simple controls and excellent gameplay). To say the least the sound and the music are what make the enviroment come splashing out at you. The voice over is funny, and the hero is lovable. Capybara Games: Make more like this one and you might be onto some kind of revolution in the 2D gaming, retro loving, nostalgic-of-the-things-we-loved-about-NES genre. I give you four stars because the fighting sequence is your only weak point, besides not having me as one of your writers. cheers!

  • Brilliant!

This is the most fun, imaginative, engaging, interesting game I've come across in the App Store. Easy on the eyes, pleasing to the ears and enjoyable interactions with the device. It's an adventure game in the most simplist form but the creativity is extremely original. You don't know where you're going, why you're going there or what you'll have to do to get there or what you'll find along the way. Your character is the most engaging creature with his companion who leads him along. Creative music score and brilliant storyline will keep you wanting to play to the end to keeping finding endearing things, fierce battles and interesting people on your way.

If you like puzzles, thinking games or adventure type RPG's, you will absolutely love Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro. This game delivers all the fun, creativity and entertainment on your device that you could ever want. Listen to all the other reviews - you won't regret your purchase.

Thank you Capybara Games, Inc & Superbrothers, Inc. Best game I've played in a very long time.

  • Half of the one star reviewers are lazy

First off I was really excited by the release of a game that seemed to be forever in developmemt. The art and music had me excited for a game I had not a clue of how it played or even about.

When it released I went through session one and felt... disappointed. Could all the hype been a sham? Was I drinking the juice from the developers to buy a mediocre game with unengaging gameplay?

Yet, despite the bad first impression I went ahead and continued to session 2. Next thing I realized was that I was solving puzzles in session 3. The story was gripping my short attention span! The puzzles offering little help were making me think outside the box! What a great time I was having!

By the end of Session three I could not stop enjoying myself. Session 4 started and finished too quickly. The ending was fantastic. I felt in myself something magical... JOY.

While this short story of mine may not matter to those who are too lazy to finish the game, too stupid to figure out puzzles without direction of how to solve them, or just people who only play flightless bird games; those who want to experience a magical and breath-taking game should just download this now. I can't think of a better way to spend $2.99.

  • Amusing & Atmospheric

With lovely and ironic use of pixel-art stylings—no Unreal Engine type stuff here—S&S mashes up lots of genre conventions with a lovely soundtrack and some anachronistic narration to create an amusing, and at times quite atmospheric, experience.

Thankfully high on exploration & puzzle solving, and lower on fighting (imagine a pixel-art Zelda) I'm enjoying this a lot.

  • Absolutely amazing

This is one of, if not THE, best game on my iPod. It has a very intriguing style of storytelling where it gives one impressions of the story, not outright explaining it. The environments are visually stunning, and the rich music offers an auditory experience unparalleled in any iOS game I have ever played. However, it may not be everyone's cup of tea. It isn't action packed, and those who want sword swinging, action packed medieval combat should instead try something more like infinity blade. You people who have tried this game and haven't liked it, don't post reviews calling the five-star reviews fake because you can't fathom how anybody could like something you don't. It makes you look narrow-minded.

  • How to fix sound

Read Sam Mildner or Nagsworth's reviews for how awesome this game is... To make the sound work you can reset your device (turn it off and on again), or the faster method is just to close and reopen the application (double-tap the menu button, hold down the SB:S&SEP icon until the smalle red minus-sign appears, then tap it to close). When you go on the app again the sound will be back. I'm sure they'll fix it permanently in future.

  • Different and Brilliant

It's hard to explain this game.
Graphically it's very nice and the sound effects / music are fantastic, The music really sets the atmosphere and tension.
Gameplay is point n click style with you double tapping when you want to walk or hold n drag to walk, other than that I don't want to spoil any of the game. But if your looking for something a bit different pick this up it's very good.
It has a strange kind of "ico" feel to it.
For those saying it's short? What game are you playing I've been playing now for around 2 hours maybe more and I'm just about to start chapter 3.
Just because it goes back to the title screen after each chapter doesn't mean it's the end of the game.
Ps. You have to play with headphones and possibly alone to get the full effect.
Oh and the puzzles are not hard or impossible the answers are all there you just have to find them.
As a whole this app is worth way more than £1.79 I could'nt even buy two sausage rolls for that price.

Update-> OMG I've just finished the game and wow that's epic stuff. Everyone who enjoys games should really play this.

  • Good music but not much else

The music is amazing and all that but it is really simplistic at its base. The art style is kind of a cool way with the 8-bit but it still isn't great. I mean it's only just a full 8-bit world nothing else. As for the gameplay I know it is supposed to be artistic and innovative and slow. It is enjoyable to me but there is no diversity. You basically walk around then sing the same song over and over. The only difference is that you have to click on a different thing each song but it is easy to find what that is. So the like crazy mindbending puzzles are basically super simple. You really have to love what this games style which is not very exciting. I personally kind if like it but for $2.99 you will really need to be a fan of the style.

  • A welcome change! More! More!

Will bump up to 5 star if you could change how the Megatome opens. The novelty does wear off after the first few times.

'if' your open to suggestions? A little slide bar located at the bottom of the screen (slight glow of light to show where it is) to slide your finger left/right across that would pan all away across the current screen that your on.

Like to see an option for a virtual D-pad. Sure it might not be in the spirit of the ausio/visual experience itself but I loose my own personal connection with the game when I'm just watching my Scythian character walk by herself. I want to be her character more!!! Plus in bed, I don't like trying to handle my iPhone & the game at the same time. Let me at-least grip my phone & relax in bed not worrying about having to scrub across the screen. You almost have a virtual d-pad already. But that's fiddly at best.

Love the game nonetheless, bought the LP right after I finished the first stage. & just gifted the game to my mate in Tasmania.

  • Magically Immersive

    Do not miss this!
    Escapism in a tin!
Insert earphones (a must!), lie back and relax. The amazing sounds you hear are what draw you in, the quirky 8-bit style graphics and bizarre looking characters and creatures, the strange landscapes, and comical dialogue... it all transports you to this mythical realm where you can forget all about your own troubles and just play!
This game has a monkey island (original version) look to it, an Ico vibe to the characterisation, a Papa Sangre quality to the soundtrack and a comic style that puts it in a class of it's own. Bought the EP version, not over priced as it feels like lots and lots and lots of effort has been poured into the creation of what can already be dubbed a classic!
