  • Super!

Half game, half art. If you enjoy an artistic story telling adventure then you will love this. After playing through the game twice it still stands as my favorite app on my iPod bar none
  • A Woeful Tale....

Although Superbrothers: Swords & Sorcery does not present us with much of a story or backround we find the setting to present us with a bright and entertaining atmosphere that contains the keys to progressing in the game. Although it's characters are rather flat this gives the game a more mysterious feel and leaves the player to sort of fill in the blanks. The gameplay is simple and easy to understand but the constant walking and tapping random bushes trying to figure out what to do could have been more diverse. The battles although there are few of them are entertaining and mix up the regular exploration aspect. Superbrothers: Swords and Sorcery brings a familiar aspect to retro games with a new feel that everyone can enjoy. I hope to see more from them in the future.

  • Retina update has finally arrived

Thanks so much for finally updating this! I bought Sworcery, like, 7 months ago, and never got too far into it because I knew to experience the game correctly without an iPad, I'd want a resolution bump. All the reviewers across the Internet falsely praising the retina graphics infuriated me. But now that they've been brought in with the iOS 5 update, I can now safely say this is the most visually stunning game on the App Store. No pixel art game (or any game for that matter) comes close to the raw inventiveness of the visual style present here. This game is finally the perfect companion for a Retina display iDevice.

  • Boring and pointless

So they think that this game is so good that it doesn't need a selection between genders.

Come on! The combat is absolutely terrible, there is no story to it, your character is a girl no matter what you do, you are randomly spawned in the middle of a forest, there is nothing to collect, it takes about 30 seconds to get to a different screen, the character is extremely slow and why the hell is the menu screen a big ugly record, why the hell are you bossed around by a fat smoking gangster and why the hell is he saying that the game is a session to cure soul sickness? That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game and completely ruins the graphics of the gameplay!

This game needs more reason and VITAL improvements.

  • Yes, you do need this game

This game is worth the 2.99 price of admission if only for the ridiculously awesome soundtrack. I still listen to the LP Jim Guthrie score long after finishing the game. BUT the visuals combine with the aural soundscape to create one of the most atmospheric games since Shadow of the Colossus or Ico. Gameplay is pretty basic but fun in the same way old adventure games a la Monkey Island or Grim Fandango. You have to be into running around the same environments and reading dialogue to appreciate it. The boss fights are a lot of fun and surprisingly challenging as you get further through the game. I hope these guys design some content for other lunar phases, but it's a great game as is.

  • Enchanting

I've never felt particularly inclined to write a review for any iPod app, but this one really inspired an amazement that no other game I've played has. You start off not knowing what you are doing, but do you not feel inclined to move forward anyways? It feels like you're exploring a dream with friendly strangers. A sort of mystical and serene atmosphere about it, I find that it is quite relaxing to enjoy the pixelated scenery which feels real and inviting though distantly unfamiliar. Let me give one piece of advice, though: do not play this game without good headphones. You will not get the same sense of immersion.

This game is not for the simple-minded who would rather engage in complex battles and a deep lengthy storyline. This is for the person who values dreaming, being taken into another world to experience its vivid sites and sounds. It's what I would refer to as a milieu game. A game that is more enjoyed through the world it takes place in rather than its characters or story. Personally, I enjoy exploring new planes more than both story and character, so for me it is ideal.

  • Amazing

A really amazing game. The art style is great, the sounds and music are great. I haven't even finished it yet but I all ready love it.

It is a bit difficult to control on the smaller screen of the iPhone having a bit of trouble sometimes when I hold down and move in a left direction but that's only and then.

Recommending to all my friends a really amazing game. More from you would be great even if it's something completely different to this.

  • A Beautiful Work of Art.

Sword & Sworcery is a huge reminder of why video games can be art. And I'm not just talking about the gorgeous graphical style either. The music, the atmosphere, the dialog, the simple yet effective gameplay, and a story that leaves some to your imagination like all good stories do are all huge factors in what makes this game a magnificent work of art.
And at £2.99 i feel like I've cheated the developers.
I actually pirated the game originally, then bought it immediately upon completion due to how impressed i was. And now I'm going to go and check the developers website to see if it's possible to donate, because i really don't feel like £2.99 was enough.

This filled a hole in gaming for me.
I sincerely hope to see more games from these developers in the future.

  • Do not buy if you are an idiot

Do not buy if you are an idiot or a child of avarage or low intelligence. If you FULLY understood and enjoyed Inception then you are probably smart enough fall in love with this gem. The graphics and sounds have an artistic quality that some people don't value. The game is VERY simple (just point at the screen to move your character - AND THAT'S IT!) but the gameplay element of this interactive piece of art is really a secondary thing. Just don't buy it if you don't put apostrophes in the right places or criticise various things because you "don't get it".

  • Loved it!

I grew up playing Final Fantasy and Zelda RPGs on Super Nintendo and Play Station, so I'm familiar with the game style. This is the first major game of any kind that I bought for my iPhone and I loved it way more than I was expecting to. The music, art, and story blend together very well. There were also little things that made me laugh when they were making nods to pop culture - for example, did anyone else catch the subtle reference to Shepard Fairey's Obey Giant?

All in all, this game was worth every penny. And you better believe I have the soundtrack to listen to now that I'm done with the game.
