  • A little bummed out!!!

I’m a little bummed that this only has two scales. The pentatonic scale is usually the first scale you learn do that’s one I don’t need to practice. I really should have read more about this app before I spent $5 bucks. Hopefully they add some more scales. Then I would change my rating.

Hi there! GJT actually includes much more than just Pentatonic (+ Blues). You can learn Major Ionian and Minor Aeolian via the Modern Rock style, and there are four modal scales for advancing players available via the More tab: Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, and Mixolydian. These are available as upgrades for just $.99 each. Hope this helps!
  • Awful awful awful!

Wish I didn’t have to give 1 star. 5 tracks that are so basic, that there’s no dynamics or feel to the rhythm switches. Almost as if you weren’t paying attention, you wouldn’t know what part the rhythm was on. It’s really just bad. No tweeting or anything. Just choose from the 5 lame tracks, then choose a key. That’s it. Sad I paid $5 for this. Wouldn’t download it if it was free. The backing tracks in my head are much better. This is a cash grab. The description is VERY misleading. This app has NO “training” or “scale practice” or anything at all. It’s simple 5 backing tracks, NOTHING else. All these great reviews have to be from the developer. No way people are raving about this app. Shameful to lie and false advertise.

Thanks for the feedback. We’re working on more tracks now. You forgot to mention the app includes all the scale diagrams you need to memorize pentatonic, major, minor, and the modal scales. Scale charts and backing music are all you need to make serious progress in lead guitar. We understand some folks are frustrated by not having more track options, and we’re working on expanding the selection. However we intentionally put the focus on the learning diagrams in each key over pure volume of tracks to play with. This setup is likely why our ratings are typically 5 star or 1 star. The app will not do the work for you :) If there is anything deceiving about our app it is that it is an easy tool to master. It is simple, but not easy. Mastering your scales takes time, focus, dedication. We believe we’ve built the best tool to accomplish that and we hope that you’ll give us another try. Thanks!
  • Love the site for years

I have been playing guitar for 5 years a buddy and teacher recommended this site to me I got it a few years ago and did not understand how to play with it but liked listening to it now I understand and play with it and it’s a treat. I’m an ordained minister and play rythem guitar with the praise and worship team and have been working on chords now I’m breaking out with solos ( by my self) and enjoy this. You will too

  • Absolutely Love It!

I have been using Jam Tracks for a few years. I would like to say I use more often than I don’t, but sadly I am not that dedicated. But, when I do use it, I absolutely love it. Keep up the good work!
  • Jamming!!!!

This app has to be looked at for what it is in reality, a simple and uncluttered way to practice scales, improvs and, anything else you truly desire it to be.
I have seen negative comments about this app and, in actuality, I do believe such is unwarranted. But, people are free to express their opinion, and some will 'gripe ' about anything.
I am satisfied with what I have received for the price I have paid. Please add more to this app, developers, and I will continue to support this, as I take my guitar chops up a notch as I continue to utilize this app in my practice sessions. Thank you Ninebuzz !!!!

  • No need to plan a jam

Perfect application to rekindle the love of music. No need to plan a jam, the jam is on demand in the phone or device around. Would love to have a different time signature besides common time. No other jam app has them. Just for us advanced guitarist.
  • Too expensive in the long run

I am a full time music teacher and was looking for an easy and affordable app for my guitar students to jam along with. For the $4.99 asking price you get pentatonic and blues scales only. Very few styles or backgrounds (blues, jazz ,country) come with the app. All other scales and styles must be purchased. And you cannot control the tempo.
Save your money and get iRealB instead. It comes with many styles. You can control the tempo and loop sections as well. On the web forum there are thousands of FREE songs to play along to or you can actually input your own songs/chord changes. It’s cost is much more up front but the content and flexibility are well worth it.

  • Good quality tracks, but tuning is off

The tracks are good quality, and I’ve been pleased with the variety of the IAPs I’ve bought. However for some reason the tracks are out of tune enough to be distracting so I’ve been trying to find another backing track player I like as much, but haven’t. So I’m hoping that this bug can be fixed or perhaps an option can be added for fine tuning in addition to just changing the key. (Tuning issue happens on both my iPhone and my iPad. Other backing track apps don’t share this issue, so I don’t suspect my hardware)

  • Great app but big time battery drainer...

Been using app for almost a year. Used it last night, charged phone up overnight as usual, was down to less than 50% by 10am. Checked battery usage, this app was at the top of usage list even though it hadn’t been opened since last night. Doing something in background. Fix this and you have 5 stars.

  • Won me over

I did not like this app at first - thought to myself how on earth am I supposed to practice scales using this?

Came back to it after a month and I love it - makes practicing so much easier as the background tunes are not horrible. It's all driven by you though as there are no lessons or challenges to follow, just background tracks and five scales for every key and it's up to you to practice and improvise on each. Makes it very easy though!
