  • Beautiful Game, But Desperately Needs Controller Support

Final Fantasy Tactics is a masterpiece of storytelling and strategy, with its rich narrative and intricate gameplay that have captivated fans for decades. The game is visually stunning and offers a depth that is rare in mobile games. However, it's incredibly disappointing that such a classic lacks controller support on mobile devices.

Other Final Fantasy titles have successfully implemented Backbone and other controller support, enhancing the gaming experience significantly. It's perplexing that Final Fantasy Tactics hasn't followed suit. This omission is frustrating, especially for those of us who rely solely on mobile devices for gaming. I’ve had this game on my phone for over ten years and have yet to truly enjoy it because of the cumbersome touch controls.

Adding controller support would not only attract new players but also make countless fans very happy. It would undoubtedly increase revenue for Square Enix by expanding the game's accessibility and appeal. Until then, my experience remains limited and disappointing. I’d play it endlessly if I could use a controller, but without this feature, I’m left wishing for more from a game that deserves to be experienced in all its glory.

Square Enix, please listen to your fans and update this beloved game with controller support. We’re eager to dive back into Ivalice the way it was meant to be played.

  • Devs listen to us. Needs controller support

This game is too old to not have controller support for the backbone. It is a disgrace to all video games ever made. This game is one of the best games ever made and it just needs controller support. I will switch my review to 5 stars once it gets it. Also I’ve owned this game for over 10 years and never touched it because the touch screen controls do not compute with my brain. Also I’m not going to learn it either. Need to conserve brain power for pre-existing knowledge of a when I use a controller the first time I played this game. I know that sounds silly but do you guys even read reviews? Anyways what’s a man gotta do to get some backbone support? Imagine the money you could make for adding backbone support. I mean the pixel remaster for FF6 just got backbone support. I’m bout to play that and see it is. We want backbone support. Love you.

  • A true classic, nearly the definitive version

A classic game, and this is a great version. Runs without hiccups, and everything is as you remember it, the music especially makes this a masterpiece.

It plays well and I don’t think the touch interface could be improved, it works well. My biggest ask, and this is not really a complaint, but is adding controller support possible? I would love to use something like my Backbone to play with a controller more easily. That would easily improve my score to five stars.

  • Still fun but complaints are warranted

I had a long flight and decided to buy this game ahead of time to have something to play. I saw the reviews about the clunky controls/awkward camera views and decided to ignore them.

While overall the game is a lot of fun I feel like it is riding on it being a classic more than anything else. The game is not optimized for mobile app play (at least on a phone). I found myself mis-clicking a lot when trying to place units during their movement phase.

The camera view and camera view control is also inconvenient. There are two different “option icons” during battles that you can click to change the camera orientation and the camera angle. This made navigating the battlefield cumbersome and time consuming.

The ui interface requires a lot of steps to get to whatever your desired screen is (character info/shops/inventory/etc). I have never had issues fat-fingering things before but in this game it is easy to do so. Again, it does not feel like it was meant to be a mobile game.

Overall the nostalgia and gameplay is still fun. However, it feels like the devs pushed out the bare minimum requirements to have it working on an app and called it a day.

  • Love this Game

I played this game when I was 15. And even now it is still awesome game to play. There are improved graphics, job classes, stories and system and I can play it anywhere. I really hope Square Enix really considers to put in game enhancement such as max JobPoints, max gold, characters level enhancement like the other Final Fantasy sequels in AppStore. To make it easier to beat the game and focus on the story and let the others who like to play the game regularly can play regularly. Actually I really want to purchase this game years ago, but I know if I want to wait Square Enix to add in game enhancement it’ll take my lifetime🙏

  • No cheap tricks

This is the proper version of FF Tactics with no weird extra flashy Japanese animations or pay to play nonsense. It’s the closest to original. This is the one you want. The storyline is the best out of FF and the battle system is legendary. The dialogue was re written was not a welcome change as it seems too flowery or forced in some instances.. (like kids trying to write something in Shakespeare style) however it hasn’t changed enough for me to rate it lower than 5 stars.

  • Love final fantasy

I gave five cuz I’ve played on PlayStation. enough said lol great work amazed y’all got on board with emulators/ roms. Note this was one of the hardest to find final fantasy games I paid nearly 70$ from game stop for it well worth it, loved it. Any chance getting another one like this I loved this just like 1-6 so what about graphics it’s story that captivated me along with 7 and 8. I love job classes in them, btw like advent y’all should make movie out of 8. I’d pay to see it!

  • Still crashes

The game is great. Why wasn’t this optimized for controllers? You get used to the touch but honestly allowing it to be used for controllers would be ideal. Also, save as often as possible and have multiple saves. The game will often crash in the middle of a battle and not pick up from where you left off. Honestly it seems like the bare minimum effort of a money grab from Square. Doesn’t even seem to be remastered in the slightest.

  • Legit.

If you liked this game back in the day, do yourself a favor and get it on your phone! The menus can take a little getting used to on a touch screen, but the developers did a great job porting this absolute classic to mobile. Two big thumbs up from an old fan of this gem!
  • Great reboot but not good enough

I got a “Game Over” on my first battle. The gameplay is flawless but the game itself shouldn’t be that difficult starting out. I understand the game but didn’t like the dying right away part. They don’t give the main character enough to defend himself from enemies. I’d rather prefer to play the original version on PlayStation sometime.
The $6.99 they sell this game for didn’t seem worth it for this waste of time.
