Just plain cool
After seeing some fine reviews of this game online, I thought I'll take the plunge and buy Waking Mars. Firstly if you're expecting some kind of bullet hell game set in space, then I think you should move on and spend you're money on something else. This game isn't that!
I found the controls simple and intuitive, the graphics are beautiful, I haven't finished the game yet but so far it's a very different experience.
It's nice that this ain't a freemium game or riddled with in app purchases, it costs ยฃ2.99 and you get the full thing. You see so many games advertised as "free" on the app store but to actually play them properly can cost more than a game on a PS3!

Jaw-dropping.
Waking Mars is a Window to the Unknown
Studio Tiger Style has developed one of the most captivating, atmospheric, and engaging mobile games to date. In the vein of Metroid-esque exploration adventure games, Waking Mars presents a believable and suspense-filled trek through Mars' uncharted landscape that will keep new and hardcore gamers hooked from the very first moment.
I can honestly say that the some games in the genre have high potential to grow tiresome within a few short hours. However, Waking Mars' very clever graphics (parallax perfection!), beautiful animation, and eerie score come together to great a truly must-download experiences for anyone. Hardcore gamers will undoubtedly respect the Valve-like attention to detail and seamless integration of story and gameplay. Casual players will quickly grasp the intuitive controls and highly usable, yet unobtrusive interface.
The primary character, Liang, says at one spot - "We are lucky to have been chosen for this mission". I think that players of this game will share this sentiment. If you have an iPhone or iPad, just get his now.

INCREDIBLE
Game is dripping with style. This dev really knows how to present a game. Spider was an amazing game but Tiger have outdone themselves with waking mars. Good job guys!!! Keep it up!!!
First must-play iOS title of 2012
Waking Mars is like a mix between Another World, and the studio's previous title Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor. If you like either of these games, you'll love this game. The art and audio styles are wonderful and the gameplay mechanics are very well designed, but I am also rather impressed with the story. Absent of ridiculous cliched alien civilisations and stereotype characters, like Spider:TSOBM, Waking Mars tells a simple tale, and in this way is deep and compelling for adventure fans who enjoy a slower pace of discovery. I am just scratching the surface, taking my time, and hope that the depth and detail I've experienced so far extends for many more hours.

Love It!
Well done Tiger Style I think you've done a great job with this game. The controls are amazing and fit very well on the iPad. The gameplay is great, I really like the idea about reproducing life instead of destroying it. And all the different types of plants/creatures that are available. The research system is great and is a good thing to go back to if you're stuck. At the moment I am up to the part where you have to block a passage so that all the cold wind comes in, but I'm not sure exactly how to block it, but I'll get there :D. I hope to see more games from you in the future. Good luck :P.
Oh, and I have you're other game Spider: The Secret Of Bryce Manor, that was great as well but this is defiantly a step up!

Amazing
Even better than "Spider". The visuals are so well done and the controls are perfect! I can't stop playing (besides to write this).
:) GREAT JOB!
:) GREAT JOB!
What a great mix of gameplay styles!
I needed to take a break from playing, so here I am reviewing. I'm about to go back to it, though!
An hour in, Waking Mars seems to have interesting characters that play off of each other well, an intriguing and mysterious story that I want to uncover, a large world that I want to explore, and all of this is wrapped around a good ecology simulation that I want to poke and play with. Grow creatures so that other creatures can eat and reproduce so that you can get the environment up to the point where yet other things can grow โฆ that's quite a sim!
Spider was fun, and much deeper than it had to be, but it was heavy on the *game* elements. This is still a game, but the world is much deeper and the story more accessible. Also, POC main characters? Intelligent world building? I can't wait to play more!

Fun terraforming aventure
What a great adventure! You really feel like you're properly spelunking on Mars; crawling and squeezing through tight passages, dodging falling rocks, and discovering new life. The controls are very good. With just one finger, you really feel like you're in control of your character. The plant system with its many combinations is very fun and it's always satisfying to drop a seed and watch a plant grow. Great work!
