Took a step backwards
This app used to work great and this season has taken a huge step backwards. The user face is not user friendly at all. The app no longer works with Apple CarPlay so I cannot listen to games while driving. The thing that irritates me is they have now cut the goal scoring clips to only the goal… so the video ends after less than 10 seconds where they used to show the TV replay after the goal so you could actually see what happened and they let you listen to the TV announcers play by play of the goal, now we just get the actual 5 second clip of the goal. Terrible. I also cannot stand the display of current goal scores. The old app used to tell you what time and in which period they scored, now they just show the total score after the goal and the order it is presented in is backwards. Any NHL fan should be disappointed by the updates to this app. Please change it back or at least improve upon the app.Show lessGo back to old UX
This is the UX equivalent of over-engineering. It was perfect before. Please update the app with some of the old features, such as…
I want to view my team first when I open the app. The view of the team’s schedule was perfect at the top. I always knew when my team was playing because I looked at the upcoming schedule every time I opened the app. 99% of users are not interested in reading the news when the open the app.
Speaking of the schedule, the schedule page is awful. Just organize the games by date. There doesn’t need to be a different page for each month. You don’t need to show this months completed games at the bottom.
Default the standings page to “Wildcard” standings. It’s the most relevant. I want to know where my team is in relation to the playoff picture.
Condense news and video back into one tab, and give my team their own tab again. News and video are one in the same, and I don’t care about the other 31 teams nearly as much as I care about my team, and I’m sure every other hockey fan can say the same.
I understand the urge to keep things fresh, but the old version of the app was flawless. I would go back to the drawing board and restore many of the old version’s features and UX.
And also, if whoever reads this has any connection to ESPN, please push to bring back “In The Crease” with Arda Ocal. That show was the perfect way to keep tabs on the whole league, and Arda added entertainment value like no one else.Show lessThey took an efficient app and made it awful.
Allow me to preface this review with saying that I never thought to write a review in my life on the App Store. Having said that, the clowns that are in charge of this app must have been under the influence (or two) when they decided to make these changes. Instead of going on on about how incompetent this development team is, I will simply point each thing they removed/changed since last season, see below;
• When you click on lineup cards, you can’t click on each individual player that takes you to his stats.
• When you go to look at the individual stats of a player, you can’t click on them. Last season and before each players name was a hyper link to a profile page with individual stats and awards.
• The scores don’t update on the score table, you have to click on each individual game.
• Constantly you will see “PP” logos next to a team when there is no penalty called.
• In addition to the previous point, some times they will write an absurd amount of minutes next to the “PP” such as “7:00”!!
• When you click on the score to see who scored, they’re many instances where they’ll inaccurately write “SHG” or “PPG” when it was either neither or one or the other.
I’m not upset that they made a mistake (albeit many), I’m upset that it’s December 8th and they still didn’t change/fix or address any of this.
ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡Show less
