  • Middling at best until real time tram tracking reinstated

I reported an issue back in 2019 when real time tracking of trams in Melbourne suddenly stopped and went to timetables; as a result of no response and no change I stopped using the app and reverted to TramTracker. I decided to give CityMapper another go because it tracks time for the whole journey, but I see that it appears to still be using timetables. I paid for a subscription this time to support the devs, but I am reconsidering it and will def drop it if I stop using the app.

  • On holiday

I visited Toronto from New Zealand and needed to get around. This app was great. It broke each stop down so I knew exactly where I was and how much further to go.
    Would highly recommend it
  • Amazing

This app is incredible. So user friendly, so convenient, layouts out everything you need, it’s all in one place. 10/10 so far for a city I’m new to, or a city I live in
  • Helped me to navigate on my trip

This is a very functional app. It contains a lot of information which does take sometime to work through. However it tells you exactly when and where it’s going to take you. It would be good when you look up the bus route that as you scroll through the stops it shows you on the route which stop was which. Hard to view on an iPhone SE. Well done to the developers for this app though .

  • Disappointing for Florence

I used to use this app all the time when I was living in NYC, it was the best. But I’ve since moved to Florence, Italy, and it’s been very disappointing. It seems to rely on the scheduled bus times instead of the live ones. In this town, the bus schedules are completely meaningless and only the live times are reliable. If the app is using live times, then they’re not using the right ones - it’s always wrong, while the official bus app has reliable live times. Also, buses here are very frequently diverted and that’s never noted in the app. Even worse, the app has quite a few of the bus routes completely wrong, even when there are no diversions. It’s a shame, because I love the app… but all this adds up to it being completely unusable here. Unfortunately, I’m deleting it.

  • Best map for Sydney

Literally the best map app ever has everything real time and u can sort everything like if you want by bus or train and how much you wanna change or not and how quickly like this app saved my life for the past few years I’ve downloaded it on everything I love it so much thank you
  • Second to none

I’ve been enjoying Citymapper for years, and still I don’t see any serious competition to its truly comprehensive and sensible routing algorithm. In London it’s well-rounded, but it’s also taken pressure off finding transport information in cities like Paris and Warsaw for me (the fewer apps the better). I don’t know how, but even pedestrian directions are superior to those of Google Maps. The multitude of routing options is also a big plus for me, I hate when transport apps insist on select few ridiculous combinations just because in one minute they make sense.

Any improvement ideas? (1) Fare information is wrong on some routes, for instance Clapham Junction to Shepherd’s Bush – it treats Overground and Southern trains differently even though there is no fare difference on that section (ticket gates don’t know which exact train you took and fares are set by route not by provider). (2) I wish there was a way to plan walking tours, i.e. to set a route consisting of multiple points. (3) I sometimes struggle to cancel directions and the app keeps working in the background – there is no easy button to do that. Anyway, those are minor points, and the app is miles ahead of its competition.

  • Citymapper was a lifesaver for me

I am a 67 year old female, who is from a small town. Our only means of transportation, is our personal vehicles. Although I wanted to visit London, I was intimidated because of it’s massive size, and I had no idea of how to use it’s public transportation system. Before making the decision to visit London, I discovered Citymapper and downloaded the app. Although at first it was confusing on how to use it, I finally got the hang of it. I then began doing trial runs to the different locations that I wanted to visit. Before long, I had learned how to go all over London, by using Citymapper. Once I felt confident that I could maneuver the city, I then made arrangements to travel. By the time I arrived in London, I was able to get around like the locals. Had it not been for Citymapper, I honestly don’t think that I could have taken this trip.

  • Beats Google Maps!

My family and some friends were on vacation in NYC and wanted to get around on the subway. I had downloaded this app, and a family friend downloaded google maps. While google is helpful finding businesses and restaurants, when using the subway and getting accurate directions this is the app to use! When we were on the subway my friend often lost signal and the app would stall, but with this app not a problem! It shows you were along you are on the train, the next stop, and where you’re supposed to get off. It’ll tell you the name of the stop and once you get off will show you which direction you go. This is also incredibly helpful as many stations have different street entrances. It was smooth traveling and suggest it for all my friends when they’re on vacation.
