  • Awesome. MDM, EMM and MAM

I love these other reviews. It's MDM, it's supposed to track you, prevent Jail Breaking and re-install itself. Too funny. 5 star
  • Brilliance

Meraki mdm is the complete and utter garbage. Never download it on your iPad or it will infect a virus from ostriches on your iPad. If you attempt to delete it, it will simply re download itself.
  • Backpack no longer functions

The combination of MSM 2.2.0 and iOS 9 has appeared to kill the ability of Backpack to retrieve links and download documents. Nice functionality lost.
  • This app downloaded onto my phone by itself...

I never authorized this app to be downloaded onto my phone. I don't want this app at all; didn't even know it was possible for an app to automatically download. If I could give this 0 stars, I would.
  • Update command missing

Please bring back the ability to install updates from the Managed Apps page. The current version only allows installations of missing apps.
  • Lightweight, useful MDM agent

For use with Meraki Systems Manager MDM, you’re using this app one way or another.

    Some minor bumps:
    - Sometimes files in the backpack get stuck at “Loading…” with no progress indicator, status, timeout, or error. This is frustrating to users who typically need something out of the Backpack when they’re in a hurry.
    - Apps may show as “Installed” even when there is an error (licensing, region, etc.) and the app is not actually installed on the device. People find this confusing.
    - I wish the first screen wasn’t the compliance and activity log. The first reason users will open it is to fetch something from the Backpack, so that should be the first thing they see.

  • Stupidest App Ever!

This stupid app restricts my iPad and looks down websites that aren't inappropriate! It makes it easier for people to hack, into my iPad! If you type the password in wrong 6 times it restarts my iPad!
  • No more manual profile reinstall or reporting LAN IP?

I use Meraki Systems manager to manage over 3000 iOS devices for a school district. I mostly like it.

However, two latest versions of the iOS app removed some useful functionality:

    1) Removed the option in the app to manually reinstall the management profile. This was very useful for the occasional device that just stops communicating with the MDM server for no apparent reason. Since we're using Meraki in conjunction with Apple's Device Enrollment Program, this means if a device needs the profile reinstalled, I now have two choices: wipe the device completely, or if it's not on the current iOS version, put it in recovery mode, upgrade it with iTunes, and hope that fixes it.

    2) Even with the app open in the foreground, it no longer reports the local LAN IP to the Meraki management console website - just the public IP. When our WAN has 16 campuses all on separate subnets, that was a useful functionality for tracking device location in the console. Since the app won't give GPS location unless it's in the foreground, I have to assign the device to a profile that puts it in single app mode locked into the Meraki app in order to even say more than, "Yup, it's somewhere on our network."

  • New version has Backpack issues

Before updating to this version, PDF files displayed fine in the app. After updating, they do not display. Instead, they show a .aspx extension. The files are set as type PDF in Systems Manager.
  • Excellent

If you know how to use this, it's a great tool for MDM.
