Worst app for TV i have ever used
Features hardly ever work - you can always play the ads alright, sometimes over and over and over, while the programme itself never actually plays. Casting on AirPlay is awful - never seems to work with the ADS playing just fine but the programme just appearing as a black screen. TG4 app is so so much better, hard to believe RTE have literally never been able to get an app with decent functionality. Jesus wept.Show lessFloridaFan!

Basic functions are a struggle
Much better app and integration with Apple TV and smart TVs however 40 second adds now before you play a video or pause and go back to the same video. A little much?Donnchadhm
On TG4 I can watch everything. RTE needs a VPN to pretend like i’m in Ireland and a TV License?

What good is an app with no content?
Almost all content is unavailable in the US. Completely defeats the point of the app.Slippery Pete

I liked watching the news the 1P 6& 9P but in the last few weeks I am unable to get them, very disappointing.Alice the wonder
RTE Player App - a national disgrace!
I am Irish, and I have been living in Canada for the past 18 years. Initially, the RTÉ Player App was a Godsend - mainly because of the possibility it afforded me of catching up on the daily news from home. The older yellow-coloured RTÉ Player App worked very well on my IPad for about 3 years before I was forced to switch over to the newer App. What a disaster! It kept freezing, and then gave up altogether. I downloaded the App on my IPhone 8 about 2 years ago, and was pleased to be able to watch Six One News and Nine News again. That honeymoon was also short lived, however. It would seem that RTÉ no longer allow access to the main daily national news on the app (at least not here in North America). This started in early August. What the heck is going on, RTÉ? All of my siblings and extended family live in Ireland and pay their TV licences (if that is what the concern is). For emigrants like me, the Six One news is lifeline. Please fix this forthwith.
