  • Worth every Penny

This app has turned my lowly iPad 2 into a really useful device. I store lots of stuff on a file server and a separate video server. I can easily browse both devices and watch videos and enjoy pictures, documents, music... And it works faster than my laptop. It has opened up the world between my computers and the iPad. If you have computers and or servers on your network, this will give your iPad a way to interface with them effortlessly too. And it remembers the settings to reconnect every time you re-open the app.

  • Way better than Apple “Files” App

Really solid app for accessing SMB share with good support for photo/video, pdf reader, etc etc. Really easy to transfer data in background too. 5/5 worth the small fee over data collection that other apps do.
  • Problems with sync over scp

I gave the free version a try and thought it was great. I have a bunch of Unix machines so being able to backup quickly to my phone using scp and FE’s sync function was fantastic. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of use, I’ve found that sync frequently gets stuck and I have to cancel and restart the process, sometimes having to force quit FE first. This makes me worry that the sync may be incomplete or corrupt.

  • Connects to my old NAS

I use FE to connect to my old NAS that the built in Apple files app didnt see. Now i can connect to my storage through the files app or even the Apple files app via FE app.
  • Really useful

I use file explorer pro all the time it’s super useful, you can connect to shares on your network, watch films and listen to music.

I would love to give this five stars but just can’t because there are bugs in this program that have been there for years and years and at this rate I don’t think they will ever be fixed.

If you’re watching a film and press the ‘pause’ button you would think when you unpause it it would continue from where it left off however that doesn’t happen instead it jumps back to the beginning or wherever the scrubber was last pointed.

I first reported this bug over six years ago and they’ve done absolutely nothing to fix it which is absolutely disgusting. Pull your finger out , do your job - then you get five stars.

  • Best IMO on the App Store

Compared to the others I have used, this probably the only that doesn’t collect any data privacy wise, and has all the features if not most behind a small fee. Easily access SMB or network shares to push or pull data to your device or stream directly from a NAS.
Definitely a must have for a power user.

  • Great, well made app for my nas drives

Developer: when the app is password protected and we switch between app, it retains a screenshot of whatever we’re looking at. Can you update it so that it’s black or no image is available on app switch if it’s password protected?

Beyond this one minor issue, this app is the best app in the “file explorer” category. It’s far superior to apples “File” app. I prefer using this premium app over the free Apple File app any day. I use it on a daily basis to view movies and picture on my nas drive and cloud storage.

  • Works good, but unreliable video compatibility

This app is really great for many reasons, but, it’s not reliable with video files. I choose the EXACT SAME SETTINGS for all my videos, yet, it decides it’ll be able to play one but not the other for no obvious reasons.. The 1st party app for my WD PassPort Pro plays like 97% of my videos just fine (I have a lot of videos) -just standard .mp4 or .m4v with NO DRM, so has nothing to do with iPad OS /iOS. I paid for your pro version, so please lift your game!

  • Pretty Outstanding, But Could Be Improved

FE File Explorer Pro is pretty outstanding, currently being the best one of the players with the SMB protocol support I have used so far. However, there is still some room for improvement. For one thing, it would be great if you added support for *.iso video files. Second and last, you could also consider adding a „Recent” category that would include a specified number of the recently played files - the total number of the recently played files included in that category could be adjustable in the app settings, for the purpose of both how many of the recently played files an individual user would like there to be, as well as for the purpose of having the amount of cache used under control should such record keeping took up any amount of cache.

  • Latest update broke FTP

Latest update broke FTP connection. It takes forever to load even over LAN. Before an update it was instant.
NetBios connection still buggy. Sometimes is asking for login credentials even so I have guest account enabled on my NAS. Before an update it never asked for credentials. I now have to put blank login and click connect and remember login, silly. Also even connected it is much slower response compared to what it was before. How can I get version 10.1 back? It worked like a charm.
