### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2024-04-28, version 2.7*

We’ve been in a road closure on Hwy 93 for the past 2 hours and I can’t find any info on this site regarding wreck and re-opening.

### 1/5 — Complete disservice to safety.

*2024-03-27, version 2.7*

Besides it being the only dot/511 app that has an ad, it requires you to create an account or log in as a guest. It offers no snow plow tracking, no chain up requirements at which mile makers and it doesn’t show snow conditions on the road. Absolutely useless app for truckers and motorists. The weather radar is a nice touch. This app has a lot of work to do before it be comes something that truckers and motorists can rely on, let alone use.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-03-02, version 2.6*

It wants to track you and send notifications but when you try to use app it doesn’t load. Waist of time and az resources

### 1/5 — Unresponsive Won’t Fully Load

*2024-02-26, version 2.6*

I’ve tried to reinstall and install this app multiple times. I haven’t been able to get past splash loading with a progress bar which never reaches 100%. Clicking on app support takes you to an ADOT where a request may be logged which is what I did.

### 1/5 — App unresponsive

*2024-01-04, version 2.6*

Can’t open or do anything . Deleted, reinstalled, no difference. Junk

### 1/5 — AZ 511 Useless

*2024-01-04, version 2.6*

Installed on IPad 3 different times. Restarted IPad 3 times. WILL NOY LOAD. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Never get beyond splash screen

*2023-12-08, version 2.6*

Never get beyond the a ADOT splash screen on iPhone 13.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-05-13, version 2.5*

This does not keep up to date with all of the weekend freeway closures. The only reason that I downloaded it.

### 1/5 — Ridiculously difficult to use

*2023-04-27, version 2.5*

Streamline the functions, this is not worth the trouble it takes to figure out.

### 1/5 — App interrupts so often it is unusable.

*2023-02-22, version 2.5*

Don’t even know if it is functional at all. Interrupts with messages before any use can be made of it.

### 1/5 — Completely unusable - just spinning “loading”

*2022-12-18, version 2.3*

App is useless. Wish I could use it but every time I attempt to put in my source/destination (Phoenix to Munds park) it just sits there in the “loading” mode and never brings back results. Great to know our taxpayer dollars pay for this crappy app experience. I’ll try again next month, maybe it will work then?

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2022-11-04, version 2.3*

The information is completely inadequate especially for the mountains in the winter. AZ isn’t just Phoenix. This is 100 times better than a few years ago but AZ you have a long way to go. Look at WY, UT, CA. These are examples of adequate apps. Maybe take a lot of tips from them.

### 1/5 — Won’t log In

*2022-10-04, version 2.3*

Says log in info is wrong.

Spoiler alert: it’s not.

### 1/5 — Not up to date

*2021-06-19, version 2.1*

Backbone fire closures were not accurate and gave me two options to travel to Pine AZ even though both routes were closed.

### 1/5 — Crap compared to the website

*2021-06-18, version 2.1*

The AZ551.gov website clearly illustrates the entire section of road closures. The app however just shows the POINT of the closure. Unless you zoom in and separate grouped notifications to find the POINT of the closure it’s impossible to determine if a section of roadway is open or closed. Literally the most helpful potential of the app, missed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why?

*2025-12-22, version 3.1*

Horrible app. Huge potential. Failed goals. If you want to see what a distant electronic billboard says or what a traffic camera sees, then that’s great, I guess. Daily alerts? Nope. Route assist? Over promised & clumsy. Save time, just use the “Waze” app. Oh, ‘watch for snowplows’. That’s all the taxpayers got out of this garbage software.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-12-07, version 3.1*

When launched the app only displays AZ ADOT logo on black screen and freezes.

### 1/5 — Practically worthless

*2025-09-19, version 3.1*

Constantly crashing and unreliable at best. I can get better traffic and commute time reports from my iPhone map app as well as from the Washington State DOT app-which isn’t even supposed to work in Arizona! That’s a travesty.

### 1/5 — Utterly Broken and Useless – Who Approved This Garbage? ADOT?

*2025-06-22, version 3.0*

The 511 Arizona app is one of the worst government-funded software projects I have ever used. It’s practically unusable — full of bugs, crashes constantly, and barely functions for even the simplest tasks. This is not just a poorly made app — it’s a complete embarrassment.

I seriously question how such a dysfunctional product could have passed any kind of official review or quality assurance process. Which government official signed off on this? Was this truly tested at all? Or was it simply rubber-stamped and pushed through?

Frankly, the only explanation that makes sense is potential corruption. Could there have been bribery or backroom deals involved? Because from a technical or usability standpoint, there is absolutely no legitimate reason this app should have been approved for public use.

Taxpayer money was wasted on this garbage. The public deserves better.

### 1/5 — Not working and freeze

*2025-03-15, version 2.7*

this is a terrible app. I tried using it and it freezes and it just doesn’t work. I had friends yesterday driving from Phoenix to Flagstaff and they were road closures and they were scrambling trying to figure out if they’re gonna make it home or not same thing today, my wife saying Phoenix and trying to get information on road closures and having a hard time

### 1/5 — Frozen

*2025-03-15, version 2.7*

On my first attempt to use this app, because there is snow, the app froze. The was a big warning that roads might be closed and to choose a different route, but nothing would work. I could not change the destination or any input.

Also, when entering the destination, the name popped up after a few letters, but I could not select it.

### 1/5 — Do not use!

*2025-03-14, version 2.7*

App does not work

### 1/5 — Poor User Interface Design

*2025-03-08, version 2.7*

Ince activated I am unsure to deactivate Weather Radar layer.

When the Weather Radar layer is on a pop-up/mini-window covers part of the map. Unfortunately it sits over the pop-up/mini-window control that toggles weather on and off so now weather is permanently on and this large pop-up/mini-window is permanently covering controls and a large portion of the map. Even if I close the app and restart it stays. Next move is to remove the app completely and reinstall. But I shouldn’t have to do this and less tech-savvy users likely won’t know to do this.

Poorly designed user interface please fix.

iPhone 15
iOS: 18.3.1

### 1/5 — HOV Lane

*2025-01-08, version 2.7*

They really need to add an option to use HOV lanes as they often have different exits.

### 1/5 — Route directions are poor

*2024-09-07, version 2.7*

No matter what origin and destination I put in, I receive a message stating no routes are found. Pointless app if it can’t even do that.

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-03-25, version 1.0*

Great app! Easy to navigate and provides helpful information for my commutes.

### 5/5 — Has everything

*2019-03-24, version 1.0*

Great app for planning my daily commute and getting updates when traffic is out of control. I really like that it has future special events and construction.

### 5/5 — Awesome resource

*2019-03-21, version 1.0*

Love that the new ADOT 511 site is mobile-responsive, but the app takes that to another level. It’s already essential to my daily life.

### 4/5 — Improved

*2024-09-29, version 2.7*

You don’t have to set up an account. It’s good for directions when there’s construction. There are warnings about construction and it gives you options. You can get details and select a route. I didn’t like the old version but this one is good.

### 3/5 — Freezing App

*2025-05-30, version 3.0*

Keeps freezing up, key board unresponsive. No place to refresh
Touch is too quick

### 3/5 — Navigating App

*2024-08-14, version 2.7*

Not at all intuitive. Trying to get back to previous page unsuccessful. Where to sign up for text alerts?

### 3/5 — Cameras?

*2020-08-09, version 1.2*

What’s with the traffic cameras on the AZ511 app? Many of the cameras, particularly the ones out of the Phoenix area are inoperable, pointed the wrong way, or are not showing current photos. The rural cameras could be very helpful if maintained properly.

### 3/5 — UDOT is the standard

*2019-09-11, version 1.0*

I road trip in AZ and this app is ok. I use an iPad on my dash and Utah’s app is far better.

### 2/5 — This app is not updated for road closures

*2021-06-20, version 2.1*

The Arizona fires have closed roads and yet this app is taking me on a route that is closed. The Camp Verde 260 exit on the I17 has been closed for several days and yet that’s the route this app is taking me.
