This app hasn’t worked since I got it. I’ve never seen a single traffic condition on it. It constantly tells me there’s a server connection error and then it’s just a map - no conditions or anything. I would give this app 0 stars if possible. Don’t download it. ### 1/5 — Location requirement is a non-starter *2022-01-15* Access to my location is not required to provide road conditions, but is required to use the app. Even just “Allow While Using” is not sufficient to to permit use of the app. This is a non-starter. ### 1/5 — Don’t Waste Your Time *2022-01-06* This app is only useful if you are traveling on large major highways. The apps for Minnesota and Iowa are extensive and cover all major roads and highways, but I’ve been waiting years for a decent road conditions app for Wisconsin. Don’t waste your time downloading this one unless you only need conditions for major highways. ### 1/5 — Don’t want notifications *2021-12-27, version 2.0* I won’t be using this app. Give me no option for using notifications? No thank you ### 1/5 — WI511 *2021-12-21, version 2.0* WI511, get MN511 software. It’s much more accurate for outstate conditions and bad weather crashes and spin outs. Your’s sadly underwhelming for the real world. You can do better than this. ### 1/5 — Dissatisfied *2021-12-11* Tried to use the app to check the road conditions and it wants me to allow tracking and other notifications, but I don’t have an option to not allow it. It states it as “if you would like” but the only option is to click allow to move on. I don’t need these, I only want to see the road conditions. Deleted the app right away and will find another way to see conditions. ### 1/5 — Not user friendly *2021-12-05* Really frustrating app. The winter conditions color overlay requires extreme zooming to accurately see the intended color. App forces you to accept push alerts when you open it. And it randomly rolls from the map to the alerts menu, even if the screen is not being touched. MN app has a lot more useful features - and it works. Someone spent a LOT of $$ just to move from old app problems to new ones. ### 1/5 — App blocks data *2021-08-29* I use this app for seeing road conditions around the state, not for me but for work. I am a purchaser. I get a lot of freight deliveries. App used to allow me to enter the WI511, now it wants to track my location and talk to me about road conditions. I don’t need that. I work 5 min from home. I would be more likely to get into an accident if my phone just turned on while driving. Very disappointing to see the change. App has no option to decline tracking. ### 1/5 — Deleted the app *2021-05-27, version 2.0* During setup, I was forced to agree to notifications that I didn’t want in order to complete the setup and use the app. At that point, I terminated the setup and deleted the app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not a helpful app *2026-04-05* This app is difficult to use if you just want a quick look at road conditions. It doesn’t allow you to take a quick look with the traffic cameras. Is constantly asking you to enter your destination even though I may be looking at the roads for someone else like a kid coming home from college. Minnesotas app is so much easier to use and in the time I’m trying to find one camera on the Wisconsin 511 app. I have already seen 5 cameras on the Minnesota 511 app. ### 1/5 — Issues with app *2026-04-02, version 2.4* Do not enable “Radar”. Once enabled, the radar legend overlaps the toggle to turn it back off so it gets stuck in that mode. App needs to be fixed to resolve this issue. ### 1/5 — Not as good as other states *2025-12-31* I downloaded this app today for a trip. I use 511MN and 511SD fairly regularly, which are both superior in every way. The only feature that the WI app has that the others don’t is navigation ability, which is really not needed as google maps, apple maps, Waze, and the like are ubiquitous. WI should focus on improving real-time information on road conditions, which today at least were inaccurate. We hit troublesome sleet and freezing rain around Dells, and the app said road conditions and travel times were normal ### 1/5 — Horrible. *2025-12-19* Ever since this app has removed the ice and slippery conditions, this app is basically useless. Now when commuting, I cannot verify if roads are icy or slippery. Currently all roads are completely ice covered but according to the app, they are all good winter driving. Now that the app only shows snow, I have no clue if the roads are covered in ice. ### 1/5 — Not the same! *2024-12-27* This once was a very good app, but not anymore. They changed the winter road conditions and made it so it gives false info. No longer reliable. There was nothing wrong with the way it worked before. And absolutely no Ice information anymore! They haven’t updated in a long time , so it is not reporting the current conditions accurately. The weather radar runs too fast and doesn’t pause. Now I know. I only use it while passengering, so I don’t mind the zooming, etc., but what I DO mind is that every 12 seconds for no discernible reason, the map disappears and I get a big “Call 511” button. I don’t want to call you, that’s why I got the app. So I close out the “Call 511” window and go back to the map. 15 seconds later, it pops back up again. Make it stop. If I wanted to call you, i would call you. It’s sad because the MN one is excellent and to go from one to the other illustrates just how bad this one is. ### 2/5 — Instructions way to difficult *2021-10-01, version 2.0* Tried this app. Very difficult to setup.
