New version, a step down from what was really good
I have been playing this game for weeks on my phone and really enjoying it. However, I got the newest version of the app today and it is a big step back in several ways. The speed, game play, aesthetics, graphics and user friendliness of the game are all materially worse than what they had just a couple of days ago. You can hardly decipher the cost of items on your board. I can’t even enjoy playing this new version. Why would they do this?Show lessTreydrummer83
Great game, bad update
This is a great app - it reproduces the board game perfectly and the play and very smooth and I enjoy the interface. A week ago it was an easy 5/5 stars. But this recent update has made all the text and even graphics very small and harder to see. Maybe people playing on tablets would be fine but it’s awkward on my phone. Not only is everything in general more difficult to see because of the size, but the new way they indicate when you can buy something, the cost, the chaining, it’s all awkward and not intuitive any longer. I can figure it all out because I’ve been playing for ages but I’d be careful if you’re new to the game. Hoping later updates fix the viewing.Show lessAngMarRai

I played this game religiously and was hesitant to update, but my husband and I couldn’t play online together unless I did. But after the update the app started freezing mid-game, the graphics are TERRIBLE and take forever to load, it’s difficult to see what cards link to others, it’s an extra step to see what my neighbors military count is (why do I need to see their wonders first?), and it’s hard to tell what the cards are (small text, small image graphic, fuzzy). Also everything is so dark and small, in general. I don’t know who spent this much time redesigning this app, but they made very poor decisions. Terrible update ruins great game
Quite honestly, I couldn’t even finish a game after this update. The symbols are barely legible, the cards had all the text removed, losing all the flavor and theme (you can hold down the card to see what it is, but it’s hardly the same and a chore to do for even a single turn, much less one round, forget 3.) The place where you build your card tableau is severely underutilized leaving a lot of dead space, while figuring out your goals is practically impossible without a magnifying glass. The animations are underwhelming and kill the pacing of the game without adding anything. You can’t even turn them off! Killed a 5 star board game adaptation and made it one for the junk heap.Show lessPhotonEater
Errors in Scoring
I love this game on table top, and the app version makes everything more streamlined (no set up, no put away, no calculations). The app is beautiful, easy to use, and provides many insightful statistics. It’s easier than I thought it would be to use on my iPhone 7, I can see everything clearly except my own military tokens.
But a problem I’ve recently encountered is an error in scoring. It’s a few points off. It’s nearly made the difference in whether I get first place or not. This erodes my confidence in the apps integrity for calculations. I took photos to show the errors in calculation. If this would be fixed in the next update, that’d be awesome. Amazing game! (UPDATED)
This is a great game. I gave 5 stars a little over a year ago but did have one or two issues. But it has been a year since the game has had an update and it really does need one! I have had several problems when trying to play games with my friends. I get sent to my home screen whenever I try to join a game. Also, the screen size does not seem to fit on my phone. Some parts of the screen are cut off.
This is definitely a great game and I highly recommend getting this app. But it is REALLY needs updates. I see that there is discussion about a Roadmap, is there a place where I can find that?Show lessJason Padilla
Time Limit ruins game
This game is beautifully rendered, and the mechanics of play are well done. However, without an option to change the time limit for moves makes this unplayable with friends. So much of 7 Wonders is planning/strategically setting up your cards to prevent your neighboring players to completing objectives and looking at what’s the best play for your city. The current game clock makes that virtually impossible. If this was patched to allow a chess-clock style move timer, or just an option to turn off the play clock I would rebuy/redownload.Show lessWarwick Newport
Solid adaptation of the tabletop game
I can only speak for the single-player features of this game and not the expansions. The quality of this app is evident in the presentation and the thoughtful layout of what can amount to a large number of cards on a potentially small screen. The tabletop game can take 30+ minutes to play, but you can get the same experience in 5 minutes or less with this app. This app also doesn’t seem to greedily consume my battery like some other apps out there and hasn’t crashed on me yet. The game itself is good, but the mechanics of that, for better or worse, can’t be attributed to these developers, as they are working from an existing design. Great job!Show lessjosefwk
Needs one thing
Let me be clear, I love the 7 Wonders app. It’s fast, it’s smooth and polished and it’s just a lot of fun. It’s also one of the best board game implementations on the App Store, in my opinion. There’s one problem, and I’d hoped it would be updated, but so far it hasn’t so I’ve actually dropped my score from 5 Stars to 4 Stars. The fact that there is no pass & play functionality is just unforgivable in a game such as this. It’s the same thing that Colt Express suffered from and it really needs to be added to bring this back up to a 5 Star rating. As it is, it’s worth your money and time, and while the game has been updated for the better since its initial release, this is still the one glaring issue that I see missing. Just purchased and played 3 games to see how I liked it. I added the leaders and cities expansion. I think on my second game I played using the Babylon board side B and noticed an issue with it. I played the 2nd stage of the wonder which allows you to play your final two cards at the end did the round instead of discarding one. It only let me do this at the end of the third age but I played that part of my wonder in the first age so I should’ve gotten to play my final card all the ages.Show lessStovey371
