  • Huge potential but very buggy

UPDATE: Still buggy but better, but SUPER ANNOYING forced update. It will not play until you update which is very frustrating because sometimes it’s not convenient to update right at that moment, but you’re prevented from playing. Definitely taking it off my phone.

I love the board game and was excited to find the digital version. However I've almost given up on playing with other people. About 1 in 5 games it randomly accuses me of leaving the game, but when I try to reconnect it says there are no seats available. In theory there's a 3 minute penalty for leaving the game (even involuntarily, I guess) but it takes an hour or more for it to let me back in.

As others have noted, the Halikasnassos board just stalls if you try to use your first wonder in the second round, refusing to show the discard pile.

And like many others I want to be able to play my friends and family, not just strangers.

Playing the AI is ok, so I don't consider it a waste of money, but it will be much, much better once the bugs are ironed out.

  • Not sure why only 4 stars

Easy 5 star rating in my opinion. Games vs the AI are tough but not unbeatable. You can finish a match against them in under 5 minutes, which is crazy for a 7 Wonders match. I’ve played maybe 5 games online and found no bugs. Only issue I ran into was inactive players being kept in the round too long before they got booted. I guess I have another issue, and that’s that scoring is maybe a little too transparent. You can check your total score against everyone at any given time, which kind of takes a little calculation out of it, which I felt was a big part of the game. Anyways, those are tiny issues I have; the game is 5 stars, and worth the price.

Thanks you so much for that review .. see you online for a match :-)
  • Fantastic, but small bugs

I love this game and am very impressed with the implementation. I’m also looking forward to the Cities expansion and hope the wonders expansion (China, Byzantium, etc.) is coming too.

I hope a design choice is changed in the future. When trading with neighbors who both have the resources I need, I want to split and buy one from each (especially when I have Hapshetsup), but I don’t seem to be able to. Hope this will be implemented

  • Great adaptation of 7 Wonders

This is a great adaptation of 7 Wonders for the most part. However, I would like to see a couple of things. First, I want to see an actual rule book for reference. Things could be clearer than they are in the tutorial. Not sure someone would be able to watch the tutorial and come out understanding how to play. More would be better when it comes to rules for this game. Second, I would like to see a pass and play mode. It would make it a great tool for teaching the actual board game to people.

  • Great game, could use minor improvements

I love the tabletop version of this game, and the app is true to the original. I did the quick tutorial, and it was really simple to figure out, but I can see how it might be frustrating to jump in without the tutorial. So far I have only played the AI, and I’m disappointed that I can’t increase the difficulty level. I’m consistently winning, so I foresee growing bored with AI (unlike Carcassonne, where different AI players have vastly differing strategies and skill levels - I’ll never get tired of that!). I guess I’ll have to try the online version. The display is good, but I’d really like to be able to easily see cost of wonders and military win/loss tokens of opponents, and to see opponents’ cards when playing with >3 players (without dragging down). Overall, though, I’m really enjoying it - and it plays so fast!

  • Math Problems

After falling in love with the tabletop version of this game, buying this was a no-brainer. The app is fun and well done. As they continue to tweak it with updates, I can only imagine it will become a staple on most gamers iPads.

My problems (and reason for the 3 stars) are 2 major issues. I’ve noticed when passing cards that the player I pass to will have somehow have accessed a card that I did not pass them. For example, I’ll be sure to tuck the one green science card left in the hand under my board to complete a wonder and the next round, they will somehow play a green (and did not have access to the discard pile).

My even bigger issue is it doesn’t seem to be calculating points correctly. I’ll have 9 military shields but will lose the military combat because it only credited me with 6. It will also, frequently, miscount my victory points from guild cards.

  • Needs multiplayer but great game

This would be a 5 Star review if I could play online with friends. They have a quick match method of playing online, but nothing else, no way to ensure you and a friend online are able to join the same game.

Great game though, especially for the price. Didn’t even bother with the tutorial I find the gameplay is pretty intuitive if you’re familiar with the board game.

Saw another review mention it would be nice to watch the other players take their turns, even AI to keep track of what they’re doing. That would be a cool feature that would add a lot of value to the game, but hopefully one that could be activated and deactivated.

  • Good Start

7 Wonders is one of my favorite games, and I’m psyched this was created. The gameplay is pretty good, everything works as you would expect. Things move quickly particularly when playing the bots, and I haven’t had any glitches, very well done there.

On the downside, some of the card/hand details can be hard to see, i wish they could be a bit bigger, but it’s still totally playable. It’s great to see that they’re working expansions, the game is definitely better with Leaders and Cities, can’t wait. If all goes well with that, I’ll probably update my review to 5 stars. This is a really nice start!

  • Great app, but.....

I've had no real issues with the app's working on my iPad Pro. It plays quickly and seems solid. My beef is with the score keeping. I can't count the number of games I've lost because it cannot or will not tally properly - especially purple cards! It's really disappointing to make a great play near the end of a game and only score a seemingly random and small number of points for it. If you're playing this -and you should - review your own scoring at the end of the game. It won't change anything, but at least you can feel vindicated.

  • Needs a lot of work

It has potential, but still very buggy and needs better matchmaking. If I want to play a 4 player game, it means I want to play a 4 player game. After TEN SECONDS of searching, it ignores your request and places you into any size game. Also, if you leave even from the main screen when the game isn’t full (I left because I got put into a 7 player game against my wishes and there was only one other player in it), it counts this as disconnecting. Then, you can’t find a new match for a long time. It says 3 minutes but the counter doesn’t work and you basically can’t play for a long time (I just waited over 10 minutes and it still won’t work).

Also, they need to have some time bank for making decisions. Some people take a long time to choose EVERY turn. There needs to be like 60 or 90 seconds total for all turns in an age.
