  • One of my favorite Turn Based Strategy

This is a Turn Base Strategy game with a fantasy setting. It’s open source, come in multiple platforms. It have large playable contents, rich in lore. The game play is a bit rng and to get the best results, you would need a lot of save scumming. But the difficulty isn’t too difficult if you don’t crank it up too high on the level selection.

A well established game whenever you play it on PC or your phone. I haven’t seen any ads pop up or promoting micro transactions so far.

  • Waste of time

I’ve been looking for a game similar to the playstore’s Age of Strategy and this is as close as I could get. At first I was a little nervous about it because of the “random chance” that your soldiers will land a hit and vice versa for the opponents, and I was ABSOLUTELY right to be nervous because there is nothing random about it. Myself and anybody that I put on my team for an exhibition battle, gets absolutely slaughtered in any fight because they can only land 1/3 hits (same for any CPU or real players on my team) meanwhile the enemy lands every hit, regardless of the odds that the game gives you. I had an 80% chance to land 2 attacks and missed both. The enemy had 4 attacks at a 30% chance to hit and he lands every one of them!? It’s one thing that the enemy fights back when you attack, but not for it to take 3 people to kill 1 enemy. 100% NOT RECOMMENDED.

  • Exactly what I have been looking for

I cannot be happier with this download. Amazing for a free download, I would happily pay for an app that has given me this much enjoyment. I believe another review said it was like a mix between advanced wars and fire emblem and I completely agree. Great variety of campaigns and unit types, easy to jump in casually or get invested in leveling specific characters. Multiple difficultly levels and character leveling lends to replayability. But I do recommend saving often (especially on longer campaigns) so that if someone dies you don’t want to loose you can reload an old save.

    Exceptional work!!

  • Best value game I have played

By far the best value game that I have on my IPad. Loads of campaigns and no annoying in-app purchases. It may be old but it is 5 stars all the way.
  • Hit percentages ruin the game

This game is great but I agree that the hit chance is so low that it becomes very frustrating. On your turn YOU are supposed to hit the enemy. However what ends up happening often is that your unit swings four times and misses and then the enemy hits back successfully three times in a row. This leads to a weak (or dead) unit at the frontline conveniently at the beginning of the enemies turn.

I think the element of chance is a good feature, but the percentages of hit are soooo low that it’s ridiculous. It’s funny when you are surrounding a small creatures with four heavyweight units, swing at it a total of 12 or 16 times and you don’t even hit once.

Hit chance is anywhere from 20-50%. It would have been more fun if, at least when you are attacking, the hit rate is about 50-80%, and the chance of retaliation is 20-50%. That would make much more sense.

  • Way better than commercial games

I played this back on the day on PC. Delighted to find out it’s available on my phone! Works perfectly on iOS. This game is made with the kind of love and care that you only get when independent developers make a game for themselves.
  • Love this game

I absolutely hate pay to play/win apps loaded with in app purchases. It is fantastic to find a game you buy once, and there is a ton of user-generated extra content/scenarios/campaigns for free download.

If you like turn-based strategy games like X-Com, but also enjoy a fantasy setting, this game is for you. Thanks to the makers for breaking the mode of greed and not making this just another money-sink, pay-to-play/win game. This of us without countless dollars to waste on in-app purchases love and appreciate you and wish you great success in the future.

Let us know about any other buy-once games you put out. I will happily support a company bucking the current greed trend, even if they are games in a genre or type I don’t normally play I would still buy them just to support a company that cares about the players, not just their bottom line!

  • Love this game, But a major problem

First of all, I love this game. But, there is one major problem that I want to say something about. It is that if your main leader dies (not hero, just leader. If you have two leaders, then just look on load game to see which on is your main), you cannot replay. If you try to replay, your main leader, or hero, or even your secondary leader, says his or her death dialogue. This is very frustrating when, having gone through 30 scenarios, finding out that you die when you had just about figured out the scenario! I’m not sure if this is just a bug, or part of the game. My friend has not experienced this problem, so it might just be my device. The main reason I am giving this five stars is because of the campaign Legend of the Invincibles.

I think you should try this game, just be warned to be careful, especially in campaigns that are long.

I also think that you should try the south guard as a learn the basics campaign, not a tale of two brothers.

  • Download the game, thats it.

Amazing game, have been a long time user as well. From the original version to current. Always have more content, easy to play, story modes for days! This is an app you could easily pay $ for but its free. Love the developers for this one.
  • Amazing game with add on campaigns

Thankful for all the people who made this game and it’s campaigns. Recently started playing the add-on campaign called Ani’s Legacy or A Sanguine Quest. I enjoy the characters arcs. Also I like how the game is easy to learn, but difficult to master as there are many variations of units with different abilities.
