  • New Wesnoth player and now big fan

I had never played Wesnoth before. Like the other reviewer, I’m a big fan of tactical gameplay and grew up with Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Brigandine Legend of Forsena and the like. Discovered Wesnoth just by searching on the App Store and really enjoy it. The controls can be inconvenient at times on the phone, but I would still give 5 stars for the interesting game play and enjoyable light lore. I enjoy the campaigns. The variation in races, unit types, difficulty levels, and maps make the gameplay very interesting and highly replay-able. Limitless strategies to consider! Only big problem is how spending hours on the game flies by

  • Great fun.

This game is great fun and I enjoy that it has no crashes and no bugs. It would be nice to get a couple of updates…. But all the adons are recent and the game is v stable
  • Good game

    Please update
  • Best mobile game

Been playing the game for over 10 years, and it is still the best mobile game I’ve seen. You can play amazing campaigns, or you can play multiplayer on long road trips. Recent updates have personally made it a little bit harder to navigate, but I just got the hang of it. 10/10
  • Best Open Source Strategy

This game has been available on Linux for many years. I was stoked to find this build for ios. Now I can replay the classic on the go. Mint!
  • Nice

I am really enjoying this game thanks all ❤️
It’s nice to find a game that is not after money all the time❤️❤️😂milo gives 10 out of 10
  • Saved games disappear

This is a great game, but once the app closes all my saved games disappear! To fix this, open the Files app, browse to iCloud Drive/Wesnoth and manually download save files from iCloud.

Otherwise the port to mobile is remarkably weak. Instructions still tell you to press keys or click your mouse. Important UI elements are hidden behind the notch.

But the game has great story and tactics and doesn't bug you with ads or pay-to-play nonsense.

  • One of the best games ever made

I remember playing this on pc in the early 2000s. Still super fun, I love the character sprites, the complexity of the battle system that takes into account character race, time of day, terrain etc.

Have lost hundreds of hours into this game over the years.

My only concern is with this mobile version, if I stop playing for a little while (like a couple weeks) I’ll go back into the app and try to load a game and every one of my saves is gone!!! All the data is wiped as if I’d never played, including the information booklet which is supposed to update as you encounter new character classes etc.
If there’s anyone still maintaining this game…. Please please fix this :) tysm

  • An EXCELLENT PC game that works well enough mobile

I played Wesnoth forever ago on my PC after asking around what a good game for a Fire Emblem lover is. It’s probably half way between Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, though. It’s incredibly tough to beat as a free game.

The port to mobile didn’t change the tutorial to include a different control scheme (tells you to right click and such) and the controls don’t work here quite as well as they do on the PC but honestly it’s gonna be tough to find a better F2P game on mobile than this, so long as you enjoy the genre.

Easier levels aren’t horribly difficult, one need not be a strategic genius to get through Tale of Two Brothers. And yet some of the higher difficulty levels will absolutely put your skills to the test.

  • SO SO MUCH CONTENT

I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this game, I am absolutely hooked!

The sheer amount of add-ons is fantastic, I think I could play this game for years and would still have more to try.

I’m not a strategist so I can’t finish most campaigns which is frustrating, but then I just hop to a new campaign and the fun begins anew!

This has been so worth the download, I love the storytelling, I love the gameplay, the art and animations are beautiful!
