  • A Brilliant Game

Battle for Wesnoth is a must-own game. Intuitive controls are combined with a fascinating battle system to create a unique gameplay experience. There are a host of available campaigns and multiplayer maps on the base game itself, with scores more available from the immense add-on repository. You can even create your own campaigns using an easy-to-use map editor and a programming language designed for the game itself (Wesnoth Markup Language, or WML).

I’ve played this game since I was in high school, and have downloaded it onto every device I’ve owned. The iPad experience is a far better one than back when I would play this on a first-generation iPod Touch and the hours of playtime generated are well worth any price.

  • Cannot get the figures to move

This is such a great game but having returned after a few years I cannot move a character.... Seems I’m not the only one!
  • Major problem making game unplayable

I love this game and have played it for 5 years. However with this new update whenever I press on local multiplayer (the best mode of this game) it starts the loading screen then the app exits and I go back to my ipad home screen. This needs to be fixed however there does not seem to be a way to report issues for IOS. Please fix this. When its fixed I will give this game the 5 stars it deserves but this issue takes the best part of the game away from me.

Sorry for your problem. Please try clearing the cache in Preferences - General - Cache. If it doesn't help, may I ask you to come to the forums to report the problem in more detail? Thanks!
  • Totally random game

An otherwise great strategy game is ruined by having to roll for every single hit, every attack - at extremely low percentages (often 40% or worse hit chance). It is simply not fun to painstakingly plan a strategy to have it fail due to simply bad rolls on the random attack chance. I suspect the app developer is paying for positive reviews as there is no way a serious strategy player could enjoy a game this completely random. Also the interface is total garbage - very poorly implemented port.

  • Awesome

Awesome strategy game with easy medium hard for all ages and skill level. Crashed a few times fixed by reducing graphics on older iPad. Love it
  • Great game, good execution

I’ve played Wesnoth for about a decade now (free).
    Love it.
Recently found it on iPad and bought it.
I find it frustrating when I can’t convey to the game whether I want to check a movement path, make the move of change my view point on the map.
  • Amazing game, full of great content

If you like turn-based tactical games with a Tolkien-style fantasy, this is your game. It’s one of those that is easy to learn but hard to master. It has beautiful pixel art, and a lot of quality additional content that can be downloaded for free from the internal package manager. This is well worth the money.

  • Doesn’t seem to work on iPad

I had this on iPhone many years ago and greatly enjoyed it - huge amount of content and strategy to be had - so I bought it again for my iPad. I can’t seem to make any of the pieces move. I’d be tempted to rate 1 star since it’s completely unplayable but I just can’t do it to dear old wesnoth.

Sorry for the experience. iPad version has a very different control scheme, you need to drag the units. We're reimplementing the old control scheme now too.
  • Awesome

..the best game ever, I have been playing this game for 10 years and I still love it
  • Brilliant strategy game

Competes easily with just about any PC strategy game I’ve played. A definite recommendation!!
