  • Great game, but app has issues

This is an amazingly fun game. I've been playing it for days at a family reunion where we had enough iPads for a full bridge.

Nearly everyone from age six and up had a great time and kept looking forward to the next game.

However, the app does have issues. Getting all of the iPads to connect to the central server can be a pain. Tip: when typing the IP address of the server, press return on the virtual keyboard; then press the connect to server button; if there are problems, close the app on all devices including the server and try again. Also, when we tried having one player use an iPhone, players on three of the devices kept getting kicked out, so we stuck with the iPads. I haven't tested sufficiently to know if that was a coincidence.

Also, the pinch gesture to zoom in on the long range scan screen so you can see individual ships in a fleet doesn't work well.

    Overall, though, a great experience!

  • Great potential!

Great idea and this version is nice already and gives plenty of fun. But roles would need to have more specific objectives, there should be a real command system for the captain, comm should be more involved with real tasks. Also the missions should have stronger scenario with more storytelling, for instance pics of the enemy, video messages, reasons why to attack it protect etc. great job so far keep going!!

  • Buy this game!

There are an almost unlimited quantity of good things I could say about this game, and very few blemishes.

Ok, the bad that i know about. Artemis isn't exactly optimized for the iPhone/iPod. Also, depending on connection to and type of server, people can lose connection.

Don't let that stop you from getting this game.

Everything else about Artemis is great. I recommend at least three people to play. The bigger our crew gets, the more fun it is. Mirror the server screen to a tv for a forward view screen. If you really want to set the mood check online for simple, and not so simple, lighting projects related to this game.

  • Amazing game, some bugs

I read about this game last week and finally got a group of nerds together last night. We got everything set-up at 9:30pm, blinked twice, and it was 2:30am. We had 3 players: Weapons and Comms on an iPad 1; Helm on an iPad 2; Science and Engineering(me) on an iPad 3; and finally the server running on an iPhone 5. We had the iPhone 5 mirroring to with AppleTV as a main view screen. It was an absolute blast. Kind of a steep learning curve, and get ready to specialize, but insanely fun.

    Here's the dirty though:
We were plagued with disconnects. Every 5 minutes or so we would have someone disconnecting and having to reload the application to reconnect. In hindsight, I wonder if the mirroring stressing out the iPhone 5's network connection.

Either way, even with tons of disconnects over 5 hours, we ended the game with cheers and high fives.

  • This is awesome

I cannot stress how great this game is and how it is every geek's dream come true. Take control of a star ship bridge and have a bunch of friends pretend to be in an episode of Star Trek.

The iPad controls are great and it runs well on the iPad 2 and the iPad mini. The iPhone controls and layout leave much to be desired. No retina display or iPhone 5 display size support.

Despite the iPhone troubles, this is still a great game. I look forward to more updates

  • Extreme fun

Very much enjoy the game however I would like to suggest the ability to hook up to the tv directly to the iPhone or iPad or to project through the Apple TV so you can use the TV like the main viewer similar to what you see on Star Trek when the host server is an iPad or iPhone
  • Awesome!

For the price, and what you get, the harsh reviews are a little ridiculous. What you get is the best Star Trek sim around sim for you and four other friends, and if you have more friends the game accommodates bridge crews on their own ships, all on one server. They can even hook op with laptops over the PC version (it's $40, but the license lets you load it on six computers, so you can hook up friends without apple devices. It's an insane amount of fun for a group of geeky friends, but still good enough as a party game for anyone that doesn't mind the app price.

The only real issue is normal drops from the server, but you usually get back in after less than a minute. In game time, that an be huge, but if things go south, we usually just start an new game immediately. It's a noticeable issue, but for everything the developers got right, it's one you can learn to live with for the hours of fun it provides.

  • Fun, but needs a lot of work.

Fot better or worse, this is a straight port of the Windows version. Think of it as if you're playing the PC version over an unreliable VNC connection on your iPad. Which is to say, it's a little blurry, there's no multi-touch support, and the interface is optimized for a mouse pointer rather than your finger.

That said, it's still Artemis. It's fun despite its shortcomings.

Given the glacial pace of its development on the PC, I wouldn't expect this version to be updated anytime soon. Retina support would be a good start, but I suspect Space Team would become a full blown bridge simulator before Artemis doubles its pixel count.

  • This game rocks!

The writers of The Big Bang Theory need to have this on the show, it totally fits the characters.

I only heard about this game by chance during a video review of the board game Space Cadets. I have been playing EVE online for a long time and have always wished there was something like a bridge command where other players can man different stations on one single ship. Well this is that game I have dreamed about that would one day come... all I can say is wow... this game rocks!

Just a note on the iPad version vs the computer version, I ran the server on the computer plus one client and two iPads (iPad2) as clients and the game runs with no issues other than a popup on the iPads stating the versions don't match. But you close the popup and all works as it should.

  • Loved it

This game really had me playing it for some time. I love the fact that I get full control over the bridge and can act like I am a space cadet.
I wish this was multiplayer though, online, not LAN party. I find it kind of hard to control every station, but I like the challenge.

I will continue to play this game and I hope to see a game like this become a massive online multiplayer game.
