Buggy
The question/answer section works fairly well, however the settings menu along with any of the other menus aren't working with 9.3.4 or 9.3.5. Please fix this!!!
A few bugs
First - when viewing a question you answered incorrectly at the end of a sample test, the frame of the view is not adjusted to the navigation bar, so the top gets cut off. The view is also not embedded in a scroll view, or if it is, the system doesn't think it needs to scroll because of the size of the view. You can fix this in interface builder.
Second - choosing to view "take a test" should take you to a web view I assume, but nothing loads. If a web view is in this view, you should put up a spinner in the navigation bar to let people know it's loading.
I'll give a higher rating if you can fix these issues.

Great app
I'm using this as well as Gordon's book. This app has been a great help when I get a break at work. The practice tests and split being able to study just certain sections is great! I noticed a minor bug when reviewing missed questions part of the question gets cut off. I would buy this app again in a heartbeat.

It's a tough test but with this ap I was able to keep testing again and again until I got it.
It focuses on the right answers in green so you don't even have to read the wrong answers, concentrate on the right answers and go back to the book to learn the reasoning behind the right answers.
Some of the wrong answers are clever but forget about them and quit reading them over and over.

I know free means ads...
I know a free version of any app means there will be advertisements within the app, but in certain cases, the banner ads in this app cover answer choices when taking a practice test. When simply studying correct answers, you can scroll down and see all of the answers, not so in a practice exam. Possibly the aspect ratio of my 6s plus display? Other than that, good study aid.

It has features to help you study. Review for only those questions you got wrong, things like that.
Clearly, the detailed knowledge needs to be gained else where. It doesn't explain the answers at all. But if you are just studying for the test, this is all you need.

Fantastic app - brilliant interface!
This series of apps is brilliantly done. The interface is clean and intuitive, and provides good feedback to the user. I had my Technician class license for a number of years and decided it was time to upgrade to the General class. I downloaded this app and tried some practice exams and initially scored in the 60's. Then I read ARRL General Class License Manual and my scores improved with each chapter I read. When I was done with the book, I was scoring in the mid-80's. I then kept taking practice exams and reviewing the questions I missed until I was scoring in the 90's. When I took my General exam, I only missed 1 question. THANK YOU for making this app free to everyone!!

Got all 3 apps, passed all 3 exams!
I downloaded all three apps (Technician, General and Extra) and got all three of Gordon West's books. The books provide the explanations behind the exam answers. They include CDs so you can listen to some of the modes covered in the question pool like moon bounce, aural, meteors caller, selective fading, etc.
My only request is to offer these apps without the distracting ads! I'd gladly pay extra for that option. It could be an in-app purchase. Minus one star for the lack of choice.
One technical suggestion: there are 426, 456 and 702 questions in the Technician, General and Extra class license pools respectively. They are subdivided into subelements from which a certain number of questions are randomly selected just like the official test.
In practice, this results in a lot of duplicate questions appearing on subsequent test runs. More importantly, it also means lots of questions never get asked unless you take the test dozens of times. That's just the way random number sets work. I suggest marking the successfully answered questions on each sub-element so they don't get asked again. This way, the user gets exposed to ALL questions before they get reused again.
