  • Far from good.

I purchased the reader after a good review in a Spanish comics board. Just after download it was clear they don’t use real UI/UX professionals. The icons are not even close to the item (a circle for import?) and yellow thin text over light grey background make it almost invisible.
There’s no user journey, everything looks like made by a programmer that hates users.
The interface doesn’t have a cadence, there’s no user experience from downloading (a daunting task in every option, ended up creating a google account, upload the comics and then download them three times as it doesn’t show progress or completion) to reading, which can’t be sorted your way or renamed. Had to delete and download one by one to sort them as single ones.
There’s supposed to be a way to sync with your computer, but after an hour searching only found a Linux version, no instructions and vague references.
Good luck trying to get out of read mode, you need to keep pushing for a menu to appear.
The only good thing is the automatic white cropping, but definitely not worth the money spent.

The app has been out there for almost 7 years, thousands of users over the world, and thousands of reviews, the average review rating is 4.8 over 5 (global). Most of the issues you are talking about are not true, e.g. import progress is available trough a dedicated indicator that can show a detailed list of the files being imported. BTW, you can not import a file more than once...Another example, exiting the reading view is fully customizable, you can enable a button on screen, use a long tap or even enable a hot area in the center. The desktop apps, 11 years since the first version, are available for windows, macos and linux. A two seconds search in Google should give you the download links. The app has a full section dedicated to get help, the users' forum has tons of information about how to use everything. And finally, there is a button in the help section to contact me directly.
  • One of the Best Comic Readers

It’s one of the best comic readers. However my only disappointment is that the metadata/comic information does not sync/import over from the desktop version. I hope they make it possible to import comic information or add comic vine to the app instead of meticulously editing the comic info one by one, line by line. Other than that I say it’s a solid app so far.

  • It does the trick

The ability to move a book into a folder is a little tricky and I was about to give up. The developer sent me a detailed explanation and it works fine. I am able to import locally and from iCloud. Pretty good app. Excellent support.
  • Love it!

Keeps crashing in the last 10 minutes!
  • Almost perfect

    2 gripes.

On my 11 pro the import tab frequently crashes: it just flashes when you click the 3 lines in the import tab (the button you’d press to select import method) the only cure is a force close of the app

Second gripe is lack of split screen support for iPad. I rarely if ever use my iPad Pro 12.9 single app mode—it’s a waste of screen real estate and power.

Tbbh I only came to yac as panels can’t seem to keep my place in my comics. That said, I’m sorry but panels is much superior in many ways.

Split screen will be available in future updates. I am surprised to hear about the crash, the app has been pretty stable and I do not see any crash logs in that view. Could you please send me an email with some details so I can reproduce and fix the crash. I am sorry you experience it so frequently. EDIT: After reading your review a second time, it seems that it is not a crash but a bug in the UI, thanks for reporting it. Do you use any of the cloud services integration?
  • iCloud browse not working

Using that last option on the import page, I browse to the location and the files are grayed out. Just bought tonight so current version.

EDIT: Importing CBR and CBZ. 6 gen iPad, iPadOS 13.3.

More detail: Files on the iPad and on iCloud are grayed out, but I can access my mega account via this modal and that works fine. Odd.

  • Solid app with desktop sync

Lovely. My first comic reader app and I can’t imagine a simpler and great experience. Love it.
  • Just Perfect!

Ok. I normally don't write reviews but I wanted to for the great support from YACReader I got today. Immediate help was provided and I am off to a great start. This program is exactly what I wanted and I highly recommend YAC Reader. I had several comic book reader apps which was OK but had no ongoing support and updates for the past two years. YAC Reader does and continue to show supports and updates and improvements. My search is over.

  • Updated: Thank you for listening

Thanks so much for putting back the list view on iPad. The app is perfect again.
  • Easily the best — and a desktop app!

My biggest problem with other readers is that my collection is HUGE. It can’t be on my devices all at once or stored in my Dropbox waiting to be downloaded. I need a way to organize it and read through what I have. YAC is this and so much more. The desktop app is drag and drop, with some of the best organizational abilities of any comics app. You can also run your desktop as a server to transfer comics. The iOS app allows you to easily import comics while maintaining the organization, and you can reorganize on the fly!

I can’t say enough good things. I’ve been with YAC since the beginning, and I’ll be a customer until the end.
