Mobile issues
On mobile I really don’t care about the little worlds and characters, but it would be perfect to have proper functionality and settings, for those that can’t exactly do anything other than use the mobile app.
Hands down the most sloppily thrown together app in existence
Update months later : STILL no ability to control the volume of other guests, ie mute someone who’s streaming, lower the volume of someone who’s feed is loud, etc. When you get or make a private call with gather open, it unmutes your mic so that the entire room gets to hear your audio, unless they’re on a computer and choose to mute you. So that’s just great. I can’t say enough about how dismal this app is. But hey, at least I can finally actually connect to a room. After one of my friends helped me by removing permissions to join altogether so that I could actually access the space, I finally managed to actually JOIN a meeting. For mobile users, this is just basically just zoom. No access to the map, no ability to edit the avatar, no ability to add anyone as a friend, no ability to control audio, no blocking, LITERALLY. NOTHING. Now the app is freezing to the point that I cannot even close it to see my screen or shut down the app, I have to wait for it to actually crash. Anytime two people screen share, it freezes my entire phone. Not just the app, but MY ENTIRE PHONE. I can’t even shut this abomination of an app down when that happens. It’s unbelievable. I’m honestly shocked this company even bothered to release this app at all if it’s this dysfunctional. What IS this?

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback! We apologize for the issues you faced. Your report about external calls unmuting you helped us identify a bug, and a fix will be rolled out soon. Regarding the crash, we sincerely apologize as this is not acceptable. If you encounter any issues with our app again, please report them to us. We also understand your desire for more features in the app. While our initial focus was on ensuring the mobile app works smoothly for meetings, we have plans to enhance it with additional features to bring it closer to the desktop version experience. Thank you for your patience and support.

Barebones functionality
1. You can’t view or move around your virtual space like you can on the web/desktop app version.
2. Meeting links that people set using the web/desktop app version of Gather don’t seem to ever work. You just get an error “This meeting link is currently not supported on mobile”
So unless you’re making a new meeting from the mobile app, I don’t see a point in ever using this. They shouldn’t even have bothered putting out an app that is this incomplete.
