Mostly Good

The game is beautiful, with lots of different characters. Voice acting is good, and the storyline is intricate. There’s extra events with side stories that happen about once a month. Gatcha style card collecting by summoning food souls. There’s just a few things that would make the game better. I wish there were more female food souls. Even ones that dress like females aren’t females. I’ve only seen one female food soul, and I don’t even know if she has a card we can use. Suggestion: It would be a lot easier and time effective for the Resource Stages to have an option to just spend Stamina on the stage level and earn rewards, without going through a whole battle. The game has x2 battle tickets, but you still need to go through an entire fight before earning anything, and the tickets are limited. Takes grinding to the extreme. I end up breezing through the main storyline, and dredging along to level up enough for the next chapter of the storyline to unlock. Going through the Resource Stages is such a huge chore, and I really don’t want my games to feel like a chore. There’s so many fun things to do in the game, but the Resource Stages and needing to level up to even be allowed to get to the next part of the storyline even though your team is capable of defeating the next enemies, is very time consuming and takes away form the joy of the game

Dezhou is so hot.

Great game 10/10 recommend <3

Engaging play, great community

Found out about this game due to some people on Reddit that mentioned it after the last few HSR patches have been filled with non stop waifus and it no longer felt as welcoming to anyone that wasn’t that target audience. Playing this game makes me feel wonderfully catered to in the best way, the story is engaging, there’s tons of engaging game play and of course the male character are many and varied. Re: the community, it’s been very welcoming- mainly there’s a guild system as well as an open comment area for each character where people can leave helpful tips and/ or just notes chatting about their favorite characters. Love the game, definitely see myself continuing playing as I take a break from other mobile games.

Better change that age thing to a 12+ or even a 17+. /j

Listen , I really enjoy the game , the characters , the story , the plot , the designs , they’re all amazing but the thing that quite make me curious are the voice lines of the characters. In the original country who made the game , which is China , had made some of the character’s voice lines and words more flirty ( and a little freaky. (·ω<)☆) but in the English server , they change it into a more appropriate version and I just wanted to know why ?

It’s not a big deal for me but it does make me curious about why ? ( better change it back. /joke.)

Great Gacha Game

As a female gamer, I get tired of seeing female characters in scantily clad clothes. This is a great change of pace and I enjoy that this game is visually stunning and has so much to do! They give you a ton of stamina and the quests are extremely tame in the amount of stamina you spend, which is a huge plus. There are ample opportunities for rewards and free character spins as you progress in the game. As a casual gamer and a penny pincher, I appreciate the fact that you get opportunities for discounted in-game purchases, and the prices themselves aren’t bad if you are looking for a more natural, casual gaming experience without breaking the bank. Overall, highly enjoying the game so far. The drop rates for high tier characters have been pretty decent compared to other gacha games. Only downside is that the game will sometimes crash unexpectedly, but it really is fun to play and I appreciate the time and effort they put into making the characters :)

HOW IS THIS GAME NOT POPULAR

I have played bunch of games similar to this, and this is actually the first time I play a game that let you choose your char’s gender. Great for LGBTQ+ community and I love it for being so inclusive. The game plot is 10/10, design and graphic 10/10. It’s easy to understand the system setting, also plot is definitely unique compare to other games too. Not a P2W, mostly F2P but ofc it will be faster to progress if you top up, I think this is very common, not a problem to me. LOVE IT!

Trouble shooting the game

I have played Tales of Food before and everything worked out great. The character design is really nice and it’s kinda easy to grind.

However, when I try to redownload the game now, I can’t get pass the starting page for some reason. I always get stuck on “Failed to decompress resource packs” no matter what. Tried redownloading the game and even using different Wi-Fi, yet nothing has worked.

Also tried to follow the “failed to decompress file” advice, I ended up crashes multiple times.

Hidden gem?!

I downloaded this based on positive reviews and I have slowly grown to really like this game!! For fans of Touken Ranbu, this is basically a food version but with a MUCH better game (sorry TKRB but your app is just so outdated still love you though). Voice acting is solid! Characters are fun. Battles are a tad boring but honestly I’m not playing the game for the combat system anyway haha. Story is pretty fun too, and the individual stories aren’t too long so reading through them isn't too tiring. Game mechanics are pretty easy to understand and get the feel of if you have played stamina-based material collecting games before. Also there’s gacha but so far it seems really hard to save up for pulls? Still early game though so not sure. Would recommend!! At least give it a couple days worth of trying out. Love Oyster Omelette!!

Becoming almost unplayable

Since the arrival the of “Invitation to Wine” event, there’s been many bugs in the game like the item shop not showing in-game items, or the inability to use some resource stages (ex. selecting “Grove of Harvest” will immediately make the game crash for me). This makes it extremely hard for me to play the game now since the story mode for this game sometimes has level requirements, which you have to grind in order to get.

It’s a great game overall before these issues arrived though. The gameplay is simple to understand and it’s fair for both free-to-play and pay-to-win players, you even get rewards simply for playing the for a certain amount of time. The art is beautiful and the characters have rememberable designs.

I just wish that the devs will work on patching bugs rather than pushing more events out. I love the events but it’s hard to play it when using simple mechanics in the game will cause the game to just crash over and over again :[

Engaging, Fun, and GENEROUS! The best mobile game I’ve EVER played.

I’ve yet to ever play a single mobile game whose devs actually cared about their players… until now.

Every single mobile game I’ve played until now has felt like a money grab, but Tale of Food absolutely isn’t one of those games. They are so generous to their F2P players, and even more generous to their paying players. What’s more, the story is so fun, the gameplay is actually deep and requires strategy (but you can auto-battle, too!), and the BEST part of all is just how much this game tries to teach us about Chinese history and culture through FOOD! THEY EVEN HAVE CHINESE FOOD RECIPES YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE IN YOUR OWN KITCHEN!!!

For anyone thinking, “Eh, I’ll stick with Genshin (or Honkai), please give this game a chance. It’s 100,000,000 times better than either of those games, and yes, I absolutely used to play Genshin religiously. This game treats you so much better, and is so fun AND delicious!

Thank you so much, devs, please keep doing what you’re doing. I’ll be playing and supporting you for as long as you guys keep this game in America!
