  • Not great

Not a great calorie tracker. Not great at communicating what satiety means in the context of this system. Silly ai “assistant”. Expensive subscription. Maybe the recipes would be worth it, if they were part of the app. Look elsewhere.

    Developer Response

Many of your concerns are being addressed. Recipes are now in the app.
  • Lose weight w/o feeling hungry all the time.

Is Hava worth trying? Everyone’s different but my wife and I have lost 65 lbs between the two of us, in 90 days, using the dietdoctors.com and the Hava app.

What’s most important is we’re eating real foods we enjoy and not feeling hungry all the time! It doesn’t get any better than that and that’s why we gladly give this app and it’s creators 5 stars.

Hava is not a traditional calorie counting app. If simply reducing the calories you ate worked, most people would have no problem losing weight. But it doesn’t work because eating fewer calories makes us hungrier and hunger always wins, so we eat more not less longterm.

Hava helps you chose foods that satisfy your appetite longer. We eat less often and that means fewer calories, but again, that’s only possible because we’re not hungry all the time.

Hava is not perfect and is improving weekly, but that doesn’t really mater. Just as it is, the Hava app helps us understand which foods help us satisfy our hunger longer and that’s what’s helping us get healthier and loose weight.

Thanks to everyone on the Hava team for thinking outside the “counting calories” box and making longterm health/weight control a reality for me and Nelda.

  • This works!

Close enough is good. I’ve been using the app since Feb 13 and lost 10lbs. Sometimes it takes a bit to get the food calculation right, but the goal is eating the right food and staying within in a certain range, or score. I find the AI chat helpful, asking what vegetables are healthy, are apples good for you, can you eat sweet potatoes raw…..the advice is great. I know when I step on the scales, they won’t be going up anymore and will continue to slowly go down.

  • Jumping in with both feet!

I absolutely love Diet Doctor App and had lost 30 pounds using that app following the Keto Diet. However, I had issues with Keto that made it hard for me to sustain. Back on the hunt for a way off eating that worked for me. Then one day I saw a video from the diet doctor and it surprised me when the CEO announced a change in perspective and began to speak about satiety as another way, and perhaps a more helpful way of losing weight. Because I trust this man based on all that he has done for the keto community, I listened. I have waited for months for Hava to release, and though it is still building it’s capacity, I jumped in with both feet. I am dead serious when I say that satiety is real! It’s not just high protein. I’ve done that! In fact, I’ve done it all! It is food combining, nutrient dense, beautiful meals that are delicious. No food restrictions. In 3 weeks I have lost 7 pounds, but that’s not what has made me an advocate for Hava. Done right, satiety shuts down food cravings, increases digestion and I can get hungry and not crave junk food. Done right, I find that I can pass up treats in the work room. And when I do have a treat, I don’t over indulge! It’s soooo crazy! I’m becoming a normal eater. I don’t know these people and I have nothing to gain, but if you are like me, and you’re simply at the end of your rope and blaming yourself for having no self control? Stop that! It’s not you! You just need to understand that just a few simple changes can regulate your appetite and put you in the driver’s seat. Using Hava, is correcting my food choices and I can honestly say that I am not dieting! I’m eating!

  • Not Ready

This app is barely usable at the moment, not at all matching the functionality displayed in the launch presentation. The photo “AI” didn’t recognize an avocado.

    Developer Response

I am sorry about your experience. It's true that we launched early and not everything was polished back in January. If you try it again you'll see vast improvements. The photo AI tracking is now the best on the market, as far as we know. It can recognize the ingredients and amounts of quite challenging dishes. While it could still make a lot of mistakes back in January, by now it should recognize simple items such as avocados with close to 100% accuracy.
  • Intriguing but SO not ready or worth paying for

This app is pretty and the satiety concept is intriguing but that’s where it stops. From a user standpoint this is not worth ANY money. Also the customer service is non-existent to incompetent. I wrote about a Hava question and they wrote back and said I was not in Diet Doctor’s system…a completely different app. Huh?
I agree with others about the chatbot/concierge Ava’s suggestions. I asked for snack ideas - some were in the green zone, some were in the orange.

You cannot add foods or recipes. You cannot copy meals from previous days. If you accidentally input a meal into the wrong meal period you cannot move it…why even have specific meals?
If it was free I would continue to play with it but it’s got lots of improvement before I would pay. As well, $13 a month is a huge cost…

  • Disappointing

This seems more like a prototype than an app ready for users. Food database is not comprehensive and not easy to search. No way to add your own stuff. The AI chatbot references nonexistent posts of the app.

    Developer Response

I am sorry about your experience. We did launch our app early and we've since made huge improvements, including massive improvements to the search. The database contains far more than a million food items, so now that the search works well it should be easy to find most things.
  • Too soon on app release

Disappointed in the logging features. Love the concept, but can not scan or create custom foods. The search function will show the exact same food but with different scores. I hope the app gets updated. I will cancel before membership starts. Not worth the cost until the app is updated, but I truly appreciate the science and your work.

Thank you for the support. We've made huge improvements since January. AI photo scanning is now the best in the world, as far as we know. Search is vastly improved too. We'll keep making rapid improvements.
  • Chat bot says I can enter recipes but I can’t

I hope I can figure this out. There seems to be no “how to” available.

    Developer Response

Our onboarding and AI chatbot support will continue to improve. Meanwhile, you can find a lot of support and knowledge on our website at Hava.co. Best of luck!
  • Not ready

Dang. I was so excited for this release but I am so disappointed. I am very interested in nutrition & the concept of satiety, but this app is cumbersome & not user friendly. It’s possible it was released way too soon in effort to gain subscribers executing their New Year’s resolutions. The search function for the data base is sub par at best, you cannot add foods that are not listed & there a big discrepancies in satiety score for the same food. My attempts to engage in support were unanswered & the chatbot Ava contradicted scores that are in the data base. Unsweetened coffee & tea are given a satiety score of 100 & when I chatted with Ava about it, I was wrongly told they are 60. There are no entry shortcuts such recent or favorite foods & so each day, each food has to be re-entered. I will be canceling in a few days after the free one week trial & will assess advancements before paying any money for this app. Bummer.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Indeed, as we launched in early January the app was still a bit shaky in some areas. Search, that you mention, is now vastly improved. We also have the ability to copy earlier meals in simple ways, so you should no longer have to re-enter foods. Many other improvements are also in place. I hope we'll see you again in the future so that you can experience the upgrades. We believe satiety is the future and can be highly helpful for many.
