  • Good service

    The app definitely needs some polish but it works well enough. I had to call the service centre to get my license expiry added as it did not come through the identification process.
  • Shocking service

    I thought I was issue but clearly it appears that the new app is a total fail. Almost two hours trying to book a van and still unable to do so. Called customers service three times and no one was able to resolve the issue and I was given three different reasons as the reasons for being unable to make a booking. The first operator said that it was an internal issue, the second mentioned that they cannot do bookings through the phone anymore but once I explained that I was unable to do so through the app they said that in this case they can, and the third operator said that the IT team was looking into the matter and to retry in 30 minutes. Is this a joke Hertz? Like why do we pay the membership and why there is no back up solution in these cases, if you cannot provide the service we signed up to? Awful experience. My two years old couldn’t have lunch and my oldest daughter had to be collected from school from a kind parent. And on top of everything I am left stranded at IKEA with 2 beds and lots of other things that I have no idea how I’m going to take home or what to do. Really negative experience and no sort of customer care service provided. An apology and that’s that. Shocking to say the least.

  • Terrible

    Wasted 15/20 minuets trying to get the app to connect to the van to start the the vehicle.
    Then wasted another 10minutes taking photos of the van before and after the rental. Then had to refuel the van but the car is only accepted in a shell garage that at the other end of town so had to pay for the fuel myself.
    Tried to leave a review after rental and it came up token blacklisted so on the app u can only leave a good review

  • Terrible, unusable, broken, garbage.

    I download it and it just has broken English poorly machine translated and keeps giving error code 403. Not at all user friendly and atrocious for a company of this size
  • New app has list you a regular customer

    I have been using Hertz for over 3 years and the previous app and service was great! They have now “upgraded” to this new app and it’s shockingly poor.

    1. The user interface looks like it’s gone back a decade from the previous app.

    2. The usability is horrible, in the previous app you could scroll around the map and tap on a location to see what vehicles it has there and when they are next available. This app you cannot even click on the map locations, you have to manually scroll through all the locations and guess the name of the one you are looking at. Then once in you cannot see which vehicles are normally there, you have to enter times.

    A real problem app, not sure why they would do this and stick to it for so long, I’m moving over to zipvan!

  • Never using again

    I’ve used the old hertz app a few times over the last couple years. Always been good and fairly reliable. Won’t be using it again after using the new app for the first time today. I booked a few days ago, had a text yesterday informing me the booking had been canceled. I called customer support and was informed the booking was still active and to arrive for pickup as planned. I did so, I was unable to access the van due to a ‘weak internet connection’ in a carpark where there had never been good internet. I noticed the other hertz van which had been booked was also still there so I assume they had the same problem. I called customer support and waited for 10-15mins with no answer. Hung up and drove to a different company to rent a van for the day. My partner called customer services and was informed they could start the van remotely for us but we’d already left, we were issued a full refund. I wish I’d listened to all the bad reviews of the new app before booking and won’t be using the service again! We booked for 2 hours and had used nearly 35mins trying to access the van!

  • Not sure why such a bad rating!

    I used this app for the first time yesterday for a van rental. Yes the app could improve but I really don’t understand the low rating. I found the app and service all round very good and would definitely use again. This is the first app review I’ve left in years and I in part as I just cannot agree with the ratings from others. Well done Hertz!

  • Worst service in the world!

    Booked a van to pick up at B&Q, after going through all the ridiculous steps to unlock the van it was searching and searching saying it couldn't find the van. After 30 minutes a B&Q driver comes out and tells us that the van doesn't even have the KEY in it because Hertz took the key out to give to B&q and it hasn't been returned yet. So the van is useless and these b&&@&!s are taking bookings all day. The driver told us that we're not the first people to be standing here trying to unlock the van. Ridiculous useless service. Never had issues with the old app. 0 stars

  • Disappointing downgrade in service

    I have used Hertz 24/7 every time I needed to move something or made a furniture purchase.
    They went through a change in their model where they take 5 pounds a year for a subscription which doesn’t count towards the credit.
    The app now is much worse in every step of the way? Doesn’t work with VPN (I accept that) but it doesn’t even warn you about that, and instead it breaks in a weird way. The button to register just says “Button” for example…
    Registering the info is also problematic and unintuitive.

    In the end I am using another service here in the UK to rent vans and cars by the hour. Which have all the miles included and the membership fee is only one and counts towards the hire as credit. No brainer.

  • A huge backward step

    Having used Hertz24/7 for a few years now, this app is a huge downgrade from a user perspective. The new image requirements when collecting and returning a vehicle are borderline unsafe considering where the vans are usually parked - I had to stand in the middle
    of the road in a busy car park to capture the requested angles in full, only to find that the app then needed a further validation process (a bizarre AI driven check which involved me winking into the camera to prove my ID!?) before it’d give me the virtual key to access the van. I eventually got on my way, and having loaded the van at home got back in to find that the app couldn’t connect to the vehicle. This meant I was unable to start the van (or do anything frankly, including locking/unlocking). Eventually after a number of refresh attempts, it caught up and let me start only to do the same thing again next time I stopped.

    I’ve always loved this service, and been happy to pay a premium for the convenience. After today, sadly I won’t be renewing my subscription and will move to more traditional van hire.

    If you plan to use the service, allow plenty of time for setup and validation before you can get on your way!
