Description of Sparlit

Sparlit is the first social media app created for artists to share and view 3D art. Whether you are a seasoned 3D artist or a newbie who loves scanning 3D models of objects, Sparlit has the community for you. Created with 3D models and 3D art in mind, Sparlit allows you, for the first time ever, to view, like, interact, and share 3D models with others on your device. Unlike the majority of social media apps, Sparlit is uniquely focused on 3D content. Whether it be an intricate 3D masterpiece that took months to create in Blender or a simple low poly doughnut model, you can share them both on Sparlit. Crazy features of Sparlit (woah, they're all 3D!): - 3D Feed: Similar to other social media apps (those whose names shall not be spoken), you can swipe up and down through 3D art. When you find a particularly interesting 3D model, you can tap to interact with it. - 3D Editing: You can now change the background color, add music/sound, add light, change the rotation, and even add filters to your 3D models. When you scan or upload any model, you will be able to apply all the edits you wish to bring your creation to life. - 3D Scanning: Even if you aren't a masterful 3D artist or one at all, you can still create content on Sparlit. You can scan interesting objects that you wish to share and upload them for everyone to see. (Note: this is only available on LiDAR-supported devices.) -3D Community In Sparlit, you will be surrounded by common users who enjoy the same thing: 3D art. We are setting out to create the largest 3D community and invite you to join us along our journey. Want to directly communicate with the devs and the community?! Awesome potential

Really great app with potential to be the best commerce platform

Cool idea, but not very good execution

The app hasn’t changed much over the past month, and needs more people contributing to make it worthwhile. In addition, the way that the 3D models are displayed is inside of an invisible box that doesn’t scale with the model, so too bad if you wanted to view an object that is larger. The bounding box doesn’t scale up with the model, so it crops the object you’re looking at. This can be very frustrating as a user. The way that Apple displays USDZ files natively in Safari is much better, unfortunately. Another thing that I find incredibly annoying as a user is the way that the objects will rotate in the instances of it. Your hand moves one way and the object seemingly rotates another way… This app has a long way to go if it wants to garner more downloads/views.

App is missing some polish…

Overall I like this idea of a 3D model “feed” where you can browse new models. It’s missing some pretty important features, like displaying the model in its real size dimensions. In the Vision Pro App, the model clips out because the bounding box that the model sits in is too small. This leads to clipped models/geometry. Some of the textures don’t display correctly in the iPhone/Vision Pro apps, like metallic for instance. I would like the ability for people to download my models that I’ve uploaded, but there’s only a way to share in the Sparlit app. It would be nice to download the .usdz format. This app overall is fun, new and exciting but I don’t like using it because of the issues I mentioned.
