I am having to drop this game 2 stars in the ratings as the attacks on my islands are out of control, and shields given are scarce. While I still enjoy the game, it is difficult to make progress when all your money goes to fixing damaged island items. Also countless times of spending 10,000,000 coins on trying to get a new pirate only to be told I already have that pirate is wretched. I am then given pirate credits which then take an eternity to save for a new pirate. That is a terrible way to acquire new pirates.

Love this game but the bug is making it hard

Ahoy matey! Pirate Kings requires a strong and steady connection. This is why we would recommend that you use Wi-Fi whenever possible. Furthermore, every time you have connection difficulties, please try switching between networks (such as from Wi-Fi to 4G or vice versa) and it should improve your gaming experience. You are correct, the Island prices did change and, along with them, we now also have BIGGER Cash Wheel values, MORE free spins per hour, a LARGER spins cap, GREATER attack rewards and a BETTER store with Special Offers. Overall, you should actually be able to build the Island faster due to the higher rewards system. Hope this helps! :)
