  • Ecosia is definitely worth it :>

For starters, I’d just like to say the fact that Ecosia as a browser is helping to save the Earth simply through our use of the internet is amazing. The money generated through ad-revenue is used to plant trees, and that alone is what convinced me to download this application. I think if you want to help the plant in an easy, cost effective way, this is undoubtedly one of the best ways to do it. Every single search is helping, so every time you feel dumb for not knowing a word.. you are indeed helping to fix our broken planet. Personally, I 100% recommend this app. It’s practical, easy to use, effective, and it has a greater purpose. :>

  • I used to love it but now 2 viruses

    Be careful
  • BEST APP EVER!

Ignore the people who say they got viruses from the ads. Ecosia is WAY better for security and privacy than Google, which is actually one of the search engines which the least privacy and security. This app is amazing! I can’t say enough good things about it!
  • Amazing

An easy way to help an important cause a little bit everyday.
  • Great, but...

This is a great browser. It really is. But I hate the fact that it uses bing. Bing gives different results than google, and I like using google maps. I know you can search google than search other things, or well add #g after your search, but it won’t count as a search, therefore less trees. Maybe adding google as a search engine option will be good. Edit: My IPad got a virus by clicking on an ad. Apparently, a lot of other people had this problem. Maybe consider fixing that too.

  • A couple things to add

Not being connected to maps is annoying I can’t see opening times or call from the app which is a massive feature google has over this please fix this as I’ve installed google chrome again just to get this feature for when I need to know where something is or their hours.
Works fine but the search engine will put weird pages up instead of just the standard pages.

  • ADD ABILITY TO MAKE TEXT BIGGER (from 50%-300% like on Safari)

Why Apple doesn’t allow for you to choose your custom search engine for Safari in 2020 or doesn’t at least have Ecosia as one of the options alongside Google, Yahoo, Bing, and DuckDuckGo boggles me. But I still have to use Safari over this, sadly. The reason being that you can’t make the text bigger like in Safari since the iOS 13 update and if I, as a vision-impaired person, want to be able to read anything without it, I have to zoom in and scroll right and right and right and then there’s new line of text below it so I gotta scroll left and left and left and left to get to the start and then right and right and then again left and left and left and then down and down and so on. But when I make the text as a whole bigger it scrunches all the words to fit on my screen and I just have to scroll down. Listen, I LOOOOOVE Ecosia, and I’ve been using it on my Windows computer since there were 81M trees planted, but this is an ESSENTIAL thing for me on here. I will change my one star-rating to five stars once this issue is addressed.

And on a side note, kind of a big deal for me is the “find on page” feature (like ctrl F), where you search for a certain word and see all the times where it was mentioned on the website. Please add that too.

    Developer Response

Dear KoolCroco, On behalf of the engineering and product teams at Ecosia we apologise for our lack of accessibility options. We want to let you know we are aware we are not doing enough, but we are working hard to resolve this as a top priority. Hopefully soon you and many more folks will have more and better access to Ecosia. Thank you for your feedback, Vin Ecosia Engineering
  • Update issues

I’ve enjoyed this app as I know I’m doing good from my my own home and that is amazing, but when I updated it deleted my saved sites, my history, all tabs, everything as if I had only just installed the search engine. Not too happy about that...

    Developer Response

We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to you. It looks like this occurred when updating from a much older version of Ecosia, but we made sure it won't happen anymore when updating on newer versions. Please keep Ecosia up to date, so that you can have all the latest features, improvements and bug fixes :)  If you have more feedback, we'd love to hear from you at iosapp@ecosia.org. Thank you!
  • Amazing idea, user friendly, heart feels every time I search 👌🏼

Fantastic app I love this so much! In the beginning it’s a bit annoying after using Google because it doesn’t know your preferences but I have found as you use it more and more it gets “smarter” and now it’s just like Google. Such an easy way to do some good, an amazing idea, if only all search engines did something similar!

  • Meehhhhh..

Ecosia as a search engine.. INCREDIBLE!!

Ecosia as an app is absolute garbage.. Saving and managing favorites has been a nightmare, as you can’t change anything once you’ve added it. Don’t like the position, wanna change the name? TOUGH! This update WHIPED all of my favorites and saved tabs.. I can see history, metadata, open pages, etc.. but the favorites?! That wasn’t an update, you scrubbed my phone of the last version and made me download it again.. (essentially)

The update looks okay so far, the colours ended up being a nice little touch.. y’all better keep planting those trees! Y’all have blown up in the last year and that overhead cost and corporate culture better stay looowwwww!! Keep it up (but maybe hire some better software developers!)
