  • Good app, could be better

The idea of Ecosia is very nice. The UI of the app is also nice and simpler. The app functionality, however, could use some major improvements. There’s no swiping gestures enabled, so if u wanted to go back a page you would have to physically tap the back button. Another case would be if u wanted to get rid of a tab. You can’t swipe, you would have to tap the button. Another issue occurs when ur scrolling. The buttons at the bottom disappear. This in it of itself is not an issue. The issue is when u want the buttons to appear back. If u want it to come back, you would have to physically scroll back up a bit, instead of simply tapping the bottom like safari. Lastly, there isn’t a private mode.

Overall, the search and UI is great, it’s just that the implementation needs more time to be fleshed out.

  • Not god

I got a virus because of the ads please fix this !
  • Awesome!!

Literally making a change purely from searching on the internet, and the browser itself is really good too. Everybody should be using this
  • BE CAREFUL

I love the concept of this and I’ve been using it for a while. However I almost got a virus because of their ads. Be careful what you click on but this company should be vetting the ads that they show on their app. I’ve sent them emails and haven’t gotten a response yet so I am extremely frustrated st this oversight.

  • The best! ❤️🌳

This browser is the best, I found it on TikTok one time, and since it plants trees, I wanted do try out, and I fell in love! It’s 10 times better than google and every other browser I know, it’s the best! It doesn’t only JUST plant trees every few searches, it also doesn’t lag, crash AND it look very cute! I saw some people saying it’s ugly, but it’s not, I also like the memes when ur going to download it on mobile, lol
I recommend this app SO much, I downloaded it on my Ipad, my phone, my computer and the family computer, I’m also making some of my friends and family members download it! ❤️
This is the best browser so far, I recommend it SO MUCH!
Keep up the good work :)

  • Not a robot?

I’ve done about 3 searches on the app after downloading it and now it won’t perform any searches without stating there is unusual activity and asking me to confirm I am not a robot by selecting tiles with certain images on them. Only problem is, I select correctly and hit submit but then it all just refreshes to “confirm you are not a robot and select the following tiles” again. Thought I had clicked the wrong pictures at first but after repeating that another 10 times it became clear ecosia was not going to let me past this weird glitch. Great premise however there are a lot of issues here. Layout of the home page and searches is not the best either.

  • Trees💚

As an Oregonian, I live surrounded by constant green and wildlife. Ecosia’s cause I totally stand by and support because helping save/grow trees impacts ecosystems, etc; to keep it short it’s impact is like a domino effect. As for the app, I love it, it works very well. I’m finding everything I need on it just as I would google, I spend a lot of my time researching, reading books online, just trying to grow and learn so having an app where I can do that AND it helps a worthy cause, can’t be beat.

I adore that the home button is 🌍, and I know the back buttons take some adjustment but in my opinion, having one extra step is worth it, in addition to ensuring I slow down, be present and pay attention to detail rather than get caught up on the media and start running on autopilot.

  • Love Ecosia, but I think the app needs a few more improvements

I use Ecosia on all my browsers on my desktops and I love the idea and work being done behind the scenes. I’m happy to use it and haven’t really ever had any problems getting the search results I want.

However the app does have a few quirks that I wish would be fixed or updated.
    - First, I’m so used to the backswipe navigation pattern used in most iOS apps (take safari for example) that it’s slightly a nuisance not to have that to go back a page. Would love the addition of that.
    - Second, the big Ecosia home button on the bottom navigation bar. I almost never use that to go to the home screen so it just seems unnecessary and like a waste of space.
    - and lastly, this is minor but I noticed the scrolling feels weird because the page seems to scroll noticeably faster than the speed my finger is doing the scrolling motion. Again, not a huge deal and I’d prefer the addition of the backswipe to fixing the scroll but still something I noticed.

All that being said, I find that those things are minor enough that I’ll gladly continue to use the app over Safari or other browsers.

  • Amazing! But needs improvement

I’ve been using Ecosia for just over 2 weeks now and it’s good! I actually prefer the layout on some of the sections compared to the apple safari and believe with the tree planting it’s 100% worth the download.

The only thing I’m not so amazed about is it feels harder to navigate (I’m sure with more use that won’t be an issue), and it’s lacking some features the safari had. It doesn’t auto fill for websites you’ve already been in and it doesn’t offer a private searching tool. These aren’t major things and I’m sure as the apps develop they will become available.

    Still 1000% worth the download!

  • Great idea, but a work in progress

I love this app and what it stands for but there are a few things that don’t compare to my previous search engine. It needs features such as bookmarks, where you can create subfolders et cetera. It also needs a function where you can open links in new tabs and a ‘verbatim’ search filter. An incognito mode would also be appreciated by some. However the news and projects features are enlightening and easily accessible. This app has great potential.
