  • Sales tax was a big surprise.

Yes, I realize (now) that every state has enacted sales tax on all online purchases.

Yes, I realize (now) that Reverb didn’t do this.

Yes, I realize (now) that I am liable to pay said tax.

Yes, I only realized - as I checked out - that my agreed upon price + shipping was going to be quite different than I expected. (Especially shocking, as I negotiated a price I could afford and committed to, which exceeded $1k, so the tax was fairly substantial)

Yes, I realized - as I checked out - that I had better come up with the extra cash to PAY the tax, or suffer the retribution of reneging on an agreement.

Yes, I realized - as I checked out - that I was stuck in a dammed if I do, and damned if I don’t, moment.

Yes, I realized - after I checked out - that I could write a review saying that this is pretty disheartening and disappointing.

Yes, I realized - after I checked out - that it shouldn’t be too difficult for Reverb to have tax calculations BEFORE you commit to a purchase, or even in the offer stage.

Yes, I realize - now that I have finished my purchase, and await confirmation of payment, the item seeing sent, and the receipt of the item - I have never purchased anything on Reverb before.

And yes, I realize that this may cause me to never use Reverb again.

  • No buyer protection. Stick with guitar center

I bought an amp head from out of the country before purchasing a cab. I ordered the cab a few days later through guitar center after the head arrived. I get the cab and I find that there is an issue with the head. I had the head 10 days. I took the head in and they found it wasn’t an issue with the tubes or fuses so they sent it out to get looked at. A month goes by and they call me to tell me that it’ll be over $500 to fix. The seller didn’t disclose the issue when it was sold and in fact stated it was in perfect working condition in the listing. Reverb wouldn’t do anything about it because it was passed there “7 day policy” ... guitar center offers 180 day return. So I’m out a $1000 head I can’t use or resell. Reverbs response was to give me $50 credit. I was told they were great with protecting buyers but clearly that is not true at all...

  • If you’re looking to sell, look elsewhere

Since the Etsy buyout of reverb, the selling fees have both gone way up, but they’ve added a payout system, which also takes another fee. I sold a guitar for the first time since they were bought out and it’s been an awful experience so far. Buyers payment went through but reverb has stated it as pending in the new “payout” ‘feature’ and i can’t collect any of the funds, which means i can’t shop the guitar. It’s been 6 days now. I’ve contacted reverb twice to no avail and they’re live chat center is a ghost town. The money i intended to ship the guitar with, that was added to the price (guitar+shipping) was basically totally deducted by all the fees, which now means i am taking a loss to even get the guitar to the buyer. This was over $60 dollars in fees for a sub $800 guitar. I miss the old reverb.

  • Checkout is poor

I love the reverb site and the app but the checkout process is poor. I tried to use Apple Pay and it calculated a different tax than the reverb system did and therefore would not complete the purchase. I did not even have the option to add the incorrect higher tax to force it to go through. I then was forced to save my credit card info on the reverb site to complete the order instead of just using it once during checkout. There is also no easy way to get support from reverb to help with the issue and NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT NUMBER TO CALL. Great site, terrible checkout and customer support.

  • Reverb

Reverb is great quick and fast response
  • It’s almost there!

The app is pretty great... but the website is just easier with navigation and searching for specific items. The website/app was better before being purchased by Etsy in my opinion. The website/app has the exact same layout as Etsy when looking at listings... but when needing to find specific information about products, the layout isn’t the greatest when needing specific information about the listing.

The app is reliable and I do completely trust it when making purchases, which is by far what I care the most about.

  • Great website

Thoughtful support for sellers and buyers. Safe payment system protects both. Much cheaper than Ebay, feel prices are fair. Now I feel Ebay is ripping me off. Also noticing more people are using it and so it’s effectiveness is growing rapidly. Good job Reverb people. Thank you and keep up the good work. Rock on.

  • Great app! Needs work on Search engine

I have been using Reverb for 2+ years and it has been amazing. I haven’t had any trouble in the past, and their rating system for sellers is excellent. I especially love that they have reverb recommend sellers. The only thing keeping it from a 5th star is their search engine. It’s almost stuck in the early 2000s. I’ll start typing something in, it will give me a suggestion, but then it shows no results. When you search a little more vaguely, all of Sudden the item your looking for pops up. I’m not sure what exactly the issue is. It does seem to be an issue of the engine being too literal, and not allowing for human errors of syntax or grammar. Otherwise it works amazingly.

  • Overpriced

It’s not really the app developers’ fault (although this app is advertised as having great deals) but pretty much everything sold on here is close to the original cost of buying an item brand new, when most things are second hand which is ridiculous! You’d expected things to be sold at least at a reasonable amount so starting musicians can grab a second hand bargain without being robbed :(

    Developer Response

Apologies for any inconvenience. Please keep in mind most sellers are willing to accept offers on Reverb. Additionally, always feel free to alert our support team if you have any concerns regarding a listing on the site. We would be happy to review this further.

Overall great, a bit annoying that you can’t search for reverb stores at this point.
