When I first started with Chromecast, it worked great that was back in 2018. since the support for Chromecast discontinued, I’ve had nothing but issues with my device(s). Now is 2024 of course my Chromecast comes and goes and plays when it wants to. I even bought the google tv Device that allows me to cast at my leisure. However, my leisure is not in sync with the casting device. Additionally, using Google Home app does not rectify the situation at times it even makes it worse, and I lose patience. I have had multiple Google speakers one in particular did not respond to my voice command, and even though it displayed on the Google Home app I still had issues with it still. Group did not work at all. I visually gave that particular speaker away. Of course it works fine at the new location. then I went onto purchase another speaker and since I have purchased that speaker three weeks ago, Google Assistant does not recognize anything I say and tells me to upload the Google Home app.

  • Complete trash Nest control

This app is impressively poorly designed. Do you want to control two thermostats at one once? You can’t. Do you want to control the temp with just one button click up or down? You can’t, you need to click on each thermostat device manually and then change it, then wait about 10 seconds on that screen because if you back out it won’t register the change, then you need to back out, then go into the other thermostat and change it. Do you want the thermostats to go into eco mode when you leave but when you come home go into comfort mode!? you can’t. You can only mandate presence sensing as a trigger for being away but not for being home. Makes sense. Oh actually, you can but you can only have it return to the previous temp it was at which would’ve been my sleep preset, not my comfort preset. Oh, and best of all, if you want to turn off automatic schedule changes where the app “learns” from you and then makes schedules and changes temps automatically, you can’t. It can’t be turned off. So enjoy constantly having to check and change the temp back to what you want. This app will not let you trigger ANY ACTION with anything other than an audio command “Hey Google”, so if you don’t have the Google device or don’t want to operate that way, you’re out of luck. Terribly shameful app.

  • Ghost Devices/ Major Security Issues!!!

The app is incomplete and not that intuitive. It’s pretty pathetic that it is incapable of removing “ghost devices” and this is where Google fails to properly identify your product that you connect to it in the past and allows it to stay connected to your app and online profile even though it says offline. When trying to remove it the app says that it cannot unlink from the device unless it is connected to WiFi, which is crazy since the device is clearly working and is duplicated on the app with one showing normally and the other showing offline and taking up space. The Google forums are also completely useless, the rep on there has absolutely no clue what to do about this issue and says that it may get fixed, well everyone… it’s been a few years now and absolutely nothing has been done. Their suggested fixes don’t work either, you will be stuck in a loop forever. Having a ghost device is also an extremely dangerous and security compromising issue on your account, like any issue, the company doesn’t care to fix it until they have another security breach and get fined. Hopefully someone can get on this and have it fixed before then but at this point, Google kinda deserves a fine.
