Worked great for me
I used this ap in Panama several years ago and had great luck with it. It is a little cumbersome, practice a little at first. Once you get used to it, it is easy. It has the locations and calls you will need. You can even mark what you have seen as I did to bring back good memories of my trip!
Great for field
This guide lacks pictures for a few species, and it would be helpful if species sizes were given with more specificity than "small", "medium", etc. Other than that I was very impressed. The organizational structure took a bit of figuring out, but I was able to use the ID feature to cull down to the likely suspects, and the descriptions and photos were good to excellent. I would not dispense with a regular guidebook yet, but this is an excellent supplement, and weighs a lot less!

Helpful photos and vocalizations
I’ve loved my Costa Rica Birds app so I was excited to see this Panama Birds app from the SAME team!
This app is a great companion to my printed field guide “The Birds of Panama” by G. Angehr and R. Dean for learning the 900+ species.
I find these apps (Panama and Costa Rica) extraordinarily helpful when trying to learn a few bird calls before a trip or for use during a trip for quiet comparison (never loud, never disturbing the birds) while in the field.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY
I moved to panama recently and wanted to have a field guide to give me info on the birds I may encounter while I live here. I excitedly bought this app and figured for 15 bucks it had to be great...what a mistake. This app only has a small amount of honestly useless features and it gives you zero info on the birds it contains. It doesn't include one iota of information on the birds themselves, their habits, range, diet, nothing. It also only contains some of the birds we have here. Not all of them. Then to make matters worse I'd say about 25% of the birds this app contains don't even include a photo! Junk app. Please update it or something. Until they do don't waster your money. Hope this helps.

This is the first time we have heard this. It sounds like you might not have touched the “l” icon for a species? Touch this and you will see info about aspects you mentioned and more. Range maps are also visible there and by touching “range”. If you have the full version, it includes: -detailed info and range maps for 1000 plus species -images for 983 sp. on the Panama list -vocalizations for 907 species on the list -additional 50 sp that may occur in Panama -various features
Panama Birds Field Guide
I had an amazing birding trip to Panama in Feb. I used this app extensively for all the remarkable birds Panama has to offer. The app offers you to record unknown bird songs you encounter and send them to the developer. You can also submit photos. I have numerous bird apps and the is one of my favourites. The ease of use is also a bonus. The app support is great. Well done.

Really Helpful
I used this on a recent birding trip to Panama and it was a great supplement. Having the calls handy and being able to search by name or family was so useful. The only two problems were: 1) when I searched by family and chose a bird, then clicked on "similar" I couldn't then get back to family without starting over. 2) occasionally it got "stuck" in a category (like birds with "blue" in the name or something and the only way to get out of that list was to turn off my phone. Grateful to have had it!

This app has a lot of gaps in it. Birds, photos,songs, etc. I hope they use my money to fix it. It should be free at this time. Wait a year while they fix it.

Since then, the app has been updated with info and range maps for more than 1000 sp, including images for 983 on the Pan list, vocs for 907 sp, and an additional 50 sp that could occur in Panama along with more detailed info about habitat, search filters for major habitats, nocturnal species and more.
Great app!
Wonderful app especially if you are traveling in Panama. The filters and such are very helpful in identifying different birds and I love being able to mark when and where you spotted them. Overall great in my book.
