  • Great game but will leave you frustrated

I love the board game so I thought I'd love playing this online version. Actually it's pretty good but playing against expert will leave you frustrated and mad. I consider myself an above average player but playing against expert is ridiculous. I've played about a dozen games now versus expert and lost all but 2. It will give itself all the right colors and shapes at the right time to make qwirkles while you are stuck with duplicates galore. On average, I'll make maybe 1-2 qwirkles per game while the bot will average 4 or 5. Again, I waited until I had played enough games for a small sample size to ensure I just wasn't unlucky. The bot is already difficult enough to play but it is completely rigged in its favor.

  • Waste of money

Every game I’ve stated but one, i’ve only got a 6 tile game. No pieces ever fill the bag. When a game is finished it takes you to a screen for a rematch, but it won’t let you hit any buttons to actually start a new game. When you start a game if you pick a friend and delete the autoplayer, it still shows 4 players waiting to take a turn, and no names of players in the game. So many bugs it’s crazy. Waste of money for a game you can’t even play. I played a game that gave me the first move. I played 4 tiles and all was good. After my oponent took his turn, my turn was deleted and the bag tile
Count went to 0. So when no it was my turn we wwre back to a 6 tile game and it looked like my oponent ahd the first turn. If you get to a point you can’t play a tile and there are no tiles in the bag, there is no way to pass your turn and no way to exchange tiles. The only thing you can do is forfiet and end the game.

  • Great game but two player version need help

This app has been great but for the past several months, starting a 2 player only game has been hard. 4 player game is the default and if I went remove two additional players and start the game, it still looks for 4 players and end up 6 tiles only.
Also rematch game at the does not work and can’t start game from online game section.
Hopefully these bugs are fixed so we can use this app better. As I recollect, this is a paid app.

  • The “Expert” Robot Ruins The Fun

No one likes cheaters, or unfair advantages, and every negative comment made here about the expert robot is still true.

Wildly “lucky” draws that the robot makes, the consistent ability for it to lay down at least two and typically three tiles to your one or two, the predictable Quirkle ruining ( yes I accept that it is a strategic move but dayum ), and the weirdly fortunate way it almost always has just the right tiles for Quirkles while you… you poor schmo, you keep getting the same useless tiles over and over again.

A 20 point lead quickly evaporates as the cheating algorithm leaves you to rely on luck more than skill to beat this level. I am not a sore loser but after maybe three wins and twenty five games against the “expert”, I know it’s rigged.

If you want to enjoy this game, you can- it is well designed and a lot of fun, worth the price… just don’t expect the expert level to be challenging AND fair.

  • Updates definitely needed

Would be great to be able to nudge players after a certain amount of time. Also, interacting with the other players, via a message board or something during the game, would be nice. Before finishing your turn, would be easier to be able to move a piece to a different spot rather than back to the players rack first. The overall layout of the app is clunky. Would like to be able to play my turn in the next game in my queue as soon I am done with my move rather than have to go back out to the home page and select the next game.

  • Glitchy

I love qwirkle. We have it as a board game as well and it’s a favorite for game night. The app only works to play against the computer. It doesn’t work to play an online game against a friend you invite. You only get 6 tiles and the bag is empty. Also you often can not see the other player’s move, the tiles disappear. Very disappointed, I bought the app to play against family and friends who are not in my immediate vicinity and so I can play other than game night. Moderately fun to play against the computer. They seem to make very strange moves.

  • Not Randomized

There are two ways to make a game hard. 1. the Robot can play a flawlessly with completely randomized tile selections, or 2. Selection of tiles are not randomized and are manipulated.

This games uses the second method. This method oftentimes ruins the fun for me. What is the probability of the Robot getting the sixth tile in a row on the next move seven times in a row after I place a fifth tile? Impossible. Yet it happens frequently.

Suggest the inventors revise the game to have Robot play flawlessly rather than making tile selections based upon the score and the tiles I have not played.

  • Best Game Ever — Worst App Ever

I have been playing Qwirkle for seven years, both the online app and the board game. I love it! Unfortunately, Mindware refuses to upgrade the app to the latest Apple iOS, has refused to do so since iOS 10 or so. Now I cannot start games and can only play with two opponents who have not updated the iOS. This blows. This is disappointing for a great company like Mindware.

Several of my friends and I have each communicated several times with Mindware and were assured an update was coming. This has been going on since before the Covid-19 pandemic began.

    Mindware, PLEASE update Qwirkle.

  • Playing a new game?

I was recently invited to play this game with a friend, so I talked my husband into buying the game so we can play together. Now that we’ve added each other in the Game Center, even if I choose his name on “add a friend”, the option to start a game is grayed out. When I go to add him again on another page, it adds in 2 random players even though I have x’d those options out. We finally got into a game and it only gave us about 7 tiles each and then it was over.
What a waste of $3. Save your money.

  • It’s rigged at the higher levels

The game is fun enough at the easy and average levels. At the average level, however, the computer regularly makes frustrating moves that mess up opportunities for either player to make a Qwirkle. At the hard and expert levels the computer gets the more useful tile opportunities and can make better plays. At the those levels it’s lucky to be able to make moves with more than one tile.
