  • It feels rigged against the Player

I wanted to love this app. I love the original game and was excited to find that there was an app, so I could play anytime I wanted, by myself. I enjoyed the first three levels and saw myself improve. I consider myself a pretty good player, but was NEVER able to win against the “Expert.” In fact, not only did I never win but I typically lost by about 50 points. I didn’t have even one close game. I never felt like I was improving or discovering some strategy that would help me. It’s very discouraging, and took away any desire I had to keep playing. So, I’m deleting the app from my phone. It’s a shame to feel like the cards, or in this case tiles, are stacked against you.

  • Needs work

I love the actual game Qwirkle so much that I paid to get this app. This is the first app I’ve ever paid for and I’m disappointed. It has a lot of potential. It needs… A) 2 game options a quick game that has a time limit of like 30 seconds or 1 minute and a long game that has a time limit of like a day or two. B) It needs a way players can chat with each other or at least emojis. C) notifications when I’m in a different app to let me know when it’s my turn. D) a way of easily getting to my friends that play. E) keeping track of games won and how many Qwirkles played. I like playing with my aunt and I want to keep track of our games.

  • Could be better

The game is quite slow compared to other apps. Scoring should be much faster. You also can’t tell which games you have in your list that are waiting for your turn and which games are waiting for your opponent to take a turn. You have to tap each game to see whose turn it is. That is frustrating. The player dashboard is not that user friendly when it comes to starting new games.
But, I am glad that this is finally an app on iOS. Hopefully the developers read the reviews and make updates. I’ll keep playing it because I love the game, but I’ll be hoping it gets faster.

  • Great way to learn the game

My grandsons introduced me, their grandmother, to Qwirkle. Of course they trounced me with their brains that work at the speed of light. This Gma immediately looked for an online version so that I can practice and be somewhat competitive. The game app is perfect simulating the game to perfection! I am already better at scanning the board and making decisions about what/where to play.

  • Love the game, but PLEASE UPDATE!!

I love this game we play at constantly. I think it just needs an update on a few features such as the game reloading each time I take my turn. I have to redo my play about 3 times before it takes. Also, I would love to see a score tally added to the bottom of screen that shows how many possible points I might get in that turn as I add tiles to the board and decide where to play. That would be great. Scores are small and hard to see. Would love to see a chat box for us players to banter on.

  • Great App but needs a couple things

This is a great game to begin with. The app definitely does a fantastic job with game play. I would rank it 5-stars but I’ve just had several instances where online games don’t show up on my screen but it’s there on a friends. Also, there needs to be a notification on when it’s your turn when you are playing online if you don’t have the app open. That would make it a 5-star app! Overall though it is great!

  • Easy & Fun

We have played Qwirkle at home for many years. This year, with the pandemic and social distancing, our family could not be together. So we decided to try to play our games in a new way, online. Though my husband & I are older, and not technologically savvy, our son was able to talk us through getting the app and learning to play Qwirkle in this new way, online. It was actually easier to do than I thought. So we were still able to enjoy playing games together in spite of being apart. And a benefit of playing this way is that none of us had to be the scorekeeper. The app kept score. ;-)

  • Good, hopefully will get better

Happy someone made a Qwirkle game app. I enjoy playing it and recommend it to others, but it has some minor issues.
There needs to be a “next game” button to move to the next unplayed online game. When you’re playing a bunch of online games the list gets long and some of the games are hidden; you can scroll down but it’s not obvious enough that you can, so some people forget the games that are out of sight.
There should be a way to turn off the opening move suggestion feature. Once you know how to play that’s just annoying.
It has one little glitch: if I’m playing online games and then move to local games it won’t let me start a new game. The board goes blank, no pieces. I have to close the game and reopen to start a new local game.
And finally, notifications don’t work for it.

  • Fishing Doc Review

It’s a great game, and the online version opens up some new avenues, especially in the “time of COVID (such as playing with others remotely). The achievement function doesn’t record your achievements accurately. I’ve watched n some achievements (announced by the app after completing a game) but later when I review my achievement board, the achievement is not listed - it’s a minor thing, unless your really into achievements, I suppose. Arranging a remote game with a friend isn’t completely intuitive, but eventually I figured it out.

  • Fun game, cheating AI

I’ve played the table/live version of this game, and it’s a lot of fun. I’ve convinced a few of my friends and relatives to get this app, and playing against each other is just like the real thing. The multiplayer interface for setting up a game is a bit clunky, but it’s fine once you are playing.

The single player mode, however, clearly cheats. If you set up 4 or 5 tiles in a row, the robot ALWAYS completes the Qwirkle (at least - usually it will place several tiles) the next turn. Either the AI sees your tiles or it pulls the perfect tile(s); no matter the case the single-player mode is not fun.
