As explained to you previously, using GPS based heading as you suggest would be wholly ineffective for this app in the vast majority of use cases. GPS based heading techniques are unable to detect rotation of the device and unable to determine which way you are oriented as you spin on the spot. The techniques used by this app provides for accurate bearing determination as you move your device around provided the built-in device magnetometer is not affected by outside magnetic sources which disrupt the ability of your device to determine which way is North. Stand next to a powerful magnet or sit inside a Faraday cage (like a car) and compasses don’t work so well, that’s basic physics. If you are travelling by car on public roads you are best to use a SatNav app with preloaded maps as cars given that cars are not able to make use of more direct routes that are possible on foot that this app affords. Your review seems very harsh simply because you are trying to use the app in a situation it is not intended when other more suitable alternatives already exist and the technique you suggest simply would not work for this app.

I did a 2 hour woodland park walk today, and deliberately tried to get lost, but ended up back at my start point.
Very easy to use, anyone can use this APP, and probably the best £1.99 I’ve spent.
Looking forward to more adventures without the old fashioned paper maps.
As a back up, always carry an additional DC Power Pack, if you are listening to Music, Making Phone Calls, plus Navigation.
