  • Hidden City

This is by far one of the most entertaining and enjoyable games available on the App Store. I have been playing this for a few years now and each new update is a new challenge. The graphics are amazing. I do buy gems now and again, I figure if you want to see improvements in gameplay the developers should be rewarded in some way. I hope this game continues to produce exciting and challenging gameplay. It’s definitely my favourite game.

  • Great but frustrating

Crashing really needs to be fixed, work your way through levels and feel success but yip...it crashes and you lose all gains. Why bother playing

  • Fun Game But Forced to play impossible mini games

The Game overall is great, you don’t have to pay but if you want to, the game is very reasonable with what your money can buy. However, they inside mini games, such as the Crystals mini game. The mini game is no fun once you get to further stages, it is impossible to win without using tools. I’m not here to play Candy Crush, I will go there and play, yet the developers connect daily contests that force me to play the Candy Crush mini games like 50 times if I want to accomplish the daily contests. Come on, make it easier at least. At first I was ok with this, but as I climb in rankings I’m seriously thinking of Quitting because of this. It’s not fun, it’s becoming a job and getting me angry and that is not why I play games. This is one of the only ones I play, but may not be for much longer.

Please don’t lose players for stupid mini games that have become impossible to win. They do give a nice break but the Crystal mini game has lost you players, and I spend pretty good money with this developer and I don’t want to leave but I’m sick of having to play a game that makes me frustrated and angry. Make is easier to play without have to do the game 50 times because it’s impossible.

  • Okay, that was fast!

Perhaps I should’ve been more patient? Less than an hour after I posted my little rant we get the doubling gem AND chests. Thank you! I added my stars back.

I really do enjoy this game, it’s so beautiful that I always have to give kudos to the artists & developers! 😁👍I don’t mind spending a certain amount each month, but it’s almost not worth it without that doubling gem. I’m also STILL not in love with having all the objects at the bottom instead of on the side, but, oh well.

One bigger beef that I have with this game (along with Secret Society) is how much importance is attached to these Match 3 side games. I don’t play a hidden object game so I can play a Match 3 game. Far from it! I mean, they’re okay once in a while, but I sincerely wish that I didn’t have to play the Match 3 games to actually win one of the major prizes in Every. Single. Event. 😡 I guess I dislike that more than anything. So when one of the side earning tasks depends upon my playing the Crystal game (which I absolutely HATE) I end up skipping it. Same with the prizes on Secret Society; one of the main prizes always depends upon playing the Match 3 game & it takes forever. So, I’ll never get those prizes, I guess. ☹️

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We really appreciate it. Rest assured that it will be forwarded to the right people. Please note that the Philosopher's Stone is a rare item, and it appears in the game randomly.
  • This game has gotten better!

Ok, I have been playing this game for a few months. It is so fun and challenging. If you think it’s not, just keep going. Honestly, I have kept waiting for a downside, but there hasn’t been one. There are various side games to keep your interest peeked and the story line is incredibly engaging. I have not joined a guild yet, so even playing on my own is addicting. There are sooo many different things to do within the game that you don’t have to spend money to enjoy it. I do pay because there are certain directions I choose to go, but I could still have fun without dropping cash. I haven’t had to contact support at this point, but they seem to respond to reviews regularly and promptly. I had played another game (different developer so I will not mention) for almost a year but because I travel for work to multiple time zones I was restricted in the game. I have not had that issue with this or any other G5 game. I play several, but this is my fave. If you like variety, gorgeous graphics and do not want to have to pay to play, download today!!!

  • Getting Greedy?

I’ve played this game pretty much every day for a couple years now, and I do purchase rubies about once a month, so I think it’s very unfair and somewhat greedy of this company to change the gameplay so that you can’t use the stopwatch tool to add time during the special event where you look for highlighted items in rooms for event quests or putting the stones and bubbles in the match 3 games from the very first level. Also, if I’m spending real money to buy rubies which I then use to buy tools like the stopwatch or things to banish anomalies, it should be my choice when I can use them, not the developers. I have tons of tools for banishing the stones and ice from the match 3 games but can’t use them. Why can’t I use them? Because the developers have decided I can’t. Too many glitches, too many changes to restricting my tools and ability to play. They say you can play and advance without making purchases but then make it almost impossible to do that even for those of us who do make purchases. If gameplay does not return back to what it was even a week ago, I will take my money and my game somewhere else. You just don’t treat loyal players this way. Well, when I use up the last of my rubies this time, I’m gone and I’m taking my monthly $100 spent on this game and using it on another game like Seeker’s Notes or June’s Journey or even Bingo.

  • Good + addictive

I’ve returned to this game after well over a year and pleased to see it remembered my progress and the improvement on the graphics really noticeable. I can’t afford to buy extras so my progress through the game is slow, but I really enjoy it.
I LOVE that there are variations to standard hidden objects version - such as needing to find two versions of same object or differences between mirror version of the same picture. And I love the events. The attention to detail in the picture of the city is wonderful.

My only peeve is, because I am dyslexic, I REALLY struggle with levels where the object name’s letters are all mixed up. I keep repeatedly failing those. Though the words spelt backwards I’m great at 😂

  • Is it all about the money?

Welcome to the games eighth birthday. I’ve played for several years, but doubt I will be here for the ninth. In fact I’m beginning to wonder if g5 are trying to eliminate the game?

Constantly adding more competitions and more sparkly graphics won’t compensate for the unfriendly user changes.

New mini games which become impossible to complete without tools or spending as you go up levels. Endless energy collections and energy rewards, with tool collections few and far between. Daily tasks that can now take hours to complete. Event tasks that take a very long time to complete, but for increasingly inferior rewards. And the piece de résistance- instead of fixed tokens for completing a location (more as you increase your experience levels in a location) now there is a range of token values. For which one almost never receives the higher amounts. The images on the latest event are so tiny, obscured and pale on the iPad mini as to be near impossible to play. Given up on the phone altogether.

Stop messing with the cartoon style graphics, the tool bars and all the other faffing that add nothing to the game. Focus on a seamless user experience instead. Forget about constantly adding new locations and play some new stories in lightly altered locations, so the game doesn’t eat device memory but is still playable.

Really pretty annoyed that something so delightful has become progressively so ho-hum.

  • A cash grab now, no longer user friendly

I have been playing this game daily for five years, level 406 on iPad.

Lately, I've noticed several unfair discrepancies between platforms. Apparently there's an option to watch ads for rubies (game currency) for players on Windows. I have never been afforded that option. With the recent update, it appears mobile devices have the search items listed on the bottom of the screen now, where they're still on right hand side for non-mobile devices. This is a huge disadvantage since the notification of all secret items being found hides the search item names for several seconds, and with saving seconds being an event goal, a terrible and unnecessary time killer.

This used to be an enjoyable game, but little by little it has become less user friendly and an obvious money grab by the developers. I spend real money monthly on this game and the more "changes" that occur in the game play, the less I feel motivated to continue at the rate I do. The changes never seem to benefit the player, and I haven't seen changes/updates that make the game more interesting or fun and more of a chore. As with other games I've played in the past, once the chore aspect outweighs the enjoyment, it's time to move on. I'm not alone, either.

  • Realistic graphics & amazing art work

On the plus side, this game in my opinion has amazing art work and graphics which is really the main reason I play this game. I feel the story line isn’t too boring. Also, it is extremely difficult for adults to find games that are not too childish. Reason for poor score: Challenges such as playing in dark, silhouettes, disappearing letters and upside down scenes can cause extreme stress and frustration especially when more than one is combined within a scene while being timed. (Some challenges such as playing upside down or with disappearing letters simply are not fun in any way to most of us.) Another thing about some tools such as the little balls which make multiple items disappear upon use. Well that isn’t a tool; that is cheating and is in no way fun. Where is the enjoyment and satisfaction in being able to find the object yourself? I am sick and tired of the ridiculous short time given to complete scenes. Tired of never being able to complete an event. If every scene in this game were not timed then it would be an enjoyable game. As it is now; it is anything but enjoyable. I can not recommend timed game playing to anyone. In response to game makers response: First, you have my name wrong. Second, game is too difficult from the very beginning!! The game is not set up for enjoyment & entertainment. Instead, it is set up to promote tools for purchase; which is only cheating; not game playing.
