  • Not “sticky” enough

There’s lots to do, but very little energy or opportunity to do it without spending either real cash or hard won coins or rubies. In order to get coins or rubies or other ‘useful tokens and objects’, or to progress in the main game, the player needs to participate in mini games. The mini games enable the player to collect tokens in order to play the ‘higher’ level games with the ‘rewards’. There are numerous options for purchasing tokens with cash - as others have said, the game crudely tries to entice players to spend money at every opportunity. The limited life span means that players are forced to go away from the game whilst waiting for their energy to be replenished. If the idea is that players just spend money instead of actually playing the game; then it’s a hit.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. The game is completely free, and many of our top players are progressing without making any in-app purchases. Make sure to use all opportunities to gain more energy (use boosters, level up and fight monsters), and don't forget to exchange useful items with your friends!
  • Hidden City Hidden Object

I like the graphics and feel of this game, and generally enjoy playing. It is frustrating that rubies take so long to earn when they are so helpful, would be better if you could use coins to buy them or swap artefacts for them. Easy to get drawn in to purchasing things, which I don’t like at all. Annoying when story specific tokens you have purchased are replaced by keys and not tokens for next story; won’t be doing that again. All in all a great game, just don’t get drawn in to purchasing anything!

  • Great game, but it’s starting to drive me crazy...

Let me first say that I love this game. The graphics are incredibly beautiful and colorful. The plot lines are unique and keep you entertained without being too much to pay attention to if you just want a game to play. It’s fun to play and gets progressively harder so you don’t get bored. I love the new anomalies available that have added more challenge to some levels.

What I DON’T like is that it seems to be taking LONGER to get the required items necessary for completing a collection. Where it used to take a few rounds (maybe four or so) of a level to get one item, it now seems to take many more (ten, at least). This is not exciting, but frustrating and annoying. To use my energy in this way seems like a ploy to get me to spend more money, which I won’t do. Is there any way to fix that? You know, to change it back? Completing the levels and finishing collections should be fun, not frustrating.

  • Enjoyable but also frustrating

Beautiful graphics, especially for someone with eye issues: clear, sharp, not overly busy. However, with the new additional stars which can be earned during events, it seems at least one is deliberately designed to either not be able to be completed or require a monetary expenditure. Examples: meet 300 friends but, no matter how many friends visit, a maximum of 5 would show up on the city map; latest one is play 20 scenes with the illusions anomaly, but suddenly, even though it was the most frequent anomaly before the event (and really annoying), now it might show up once every five or six days unless you buy enough of the tools to summon it. Really disappointing that the game is rigged in such a way.

Update to review: with the most recent change to one of the mini events, specifically the Customer Base client card event, the number of client cards which can be earned per location is ridiculously low, 2-4 each location. Even worse is that the really costly locations are the ones that give 2 cards maximum. The previous version was much better.

  • Good game but has problems

I love the storyline and graphics but you run out of energy too quickly. I usually play 20 min or less before being out of energy. Also game needs bug fixes especially for new events as there have been times when I've replayed the same quest 3+ times before game will run smoothly.
  • A great game!

Decided to do this review after reading a few that were not so good and felt the need to say what my experience has been.

I have an iPad - so if you are using something else, you may have issues but I do not. There is rarely any kind of glitch or drop out. Can’t actually remember the last time.

I have never lost items I’ve found or bought.

As to the comments regarding having to spend money to progress, really? It’s a game you are playing against yourself. Spending money is not going to give you any advantage over anyone else. In my experience, some perseverance is required but you can find everything you need in game. You can buy tools using the coins you find. Use the boosters you find to increase everything.

The game is visually amazing. Each new scene blows me away with its attention to detail. Just check out the details in the clothes. Amazing.

It is a story based game. If you don’t like to read then it may not be the game for you.

Game play is varied in that there is hidden object, match three, memory cards, etc. There are events regularly. Choose to play or not play. Remember there is not one winner, everyone receives the rewards for the level they achieve.

I enjoy this game because elements of it work my brain and make me concentrate. Sometimes in a new scene I get sidetracked checking it out and forget about the clock.

In short, I love this game.

  • one of the best games out there

I've been playing this game for a long time now, not everyday but is is something I really enjoy. The game has the best graphics. Sometimes I take time and effort to complete monthly challenge but most of the time I just log in and use up all my energy. This is supposed to be fun and I make it so. I've played many games on my iPad but this one stayed with me and I will move it to my new iPad when time comes. Love it and please do not worry about completing any quests just enjoy the game which is really good for your memory!

  • Lost contact

Thank you for your response, step 1 is the problem Player login is correct, password is new and correct but message says “connection to G5 network is lost “ perhaps you can assist me further.

I have been playing this game to Level 221 but I have lost contact with friends and cannot log in. I have now bought a new iPad and find that my old game is not in the cloud either. I have no idea how this happened. I have been in contact with G5 via internet and have a job no. But can’t respond as unable to reply via the game and provide the info needed. Really fed up now. Can’t bear to start all over again.

  • Just ok & doesn’t have to be so hard

The graphics are nice, the variety in the type of searches (nighttime, past/ present, etc) is fine. The hidden items change position each attempt to complete, AND they sometimes change appearance also within the same level, the addition of x number of stars or keys to collect for bonuses within the searches of some locations is ok, but can be just distracting, if you are not careful.
But it’s really harder than it needs to be to get “assembler” items for quests and to find the hidden items in each search, it can be challenging without being so frustrating & I agree with another reviewer about the eye strain that results. Several areas of most if not all scenes contains so much content, the details are are muddled up (maybe not as much if you are playing on a huge computer screen idk)
It’s just ok, albeit frustrating more so than pleasant, and just one of several hidden item games I have downloaded, but this would be the first to get deleted if I needed to make space.

  • Tech Support

During the last game update around Dec 5th, I lost a lot of Rubies I just purchased as well as snowflakes needed to play various sections of the game in order to advance. I contacted tech support and was helped by “Karina” who after numerous emails clearly has no clue what the problem was or how to resolve it! I sent screen shots as well as numerous copies of receipts validating the purchases of the rubies and snowflakes. Karina finally said we see you made purchases and used these items to play the game! Seriously??? Yes...since Dec 5th I have indeed purchased more rubies and snowflakes several times, so I COULD continue to play multiple times daily. What Karina failed to mention in her several emails was how to resolve the items that mysteriously disappeared during the actual updating of the game!! Am I suppose to accept the loss and move on? Or how about reimbursing me for the loss of those items? That would seem to be a novel and fair idea! Or why not employ knowledgeable tech support people who can actually converse intelligently? Another novel idea!
I will not give a good review if issues of a game cannot be reported and easily resolved. If issues hinder game play, why bother playing? If your tech’s are inept and can only cite excuses and cannot resolve issues in a timely and satisfactory manner, why bother to play?
