  • Fun ... but too many ads!

At first I liked the game as it progressed from simple to more challenging. Then about halfway through the difficulty level disappeared and each game was random. I’m not interested in the simpler ones at this stage of playing it.

UPDATE: I’ve reached level 55 and as the game progresses, it gets more challenging. And each game does indeed become more difficult. I’ve added another star. Why not 5 since the game is a winner? Because of that annoying erasure and the irrelevant ads.

The “erasure” feature is horrible. Why do I have to start all over again when I’ve made an error?

And the ads. Why don't game developers realize that if it’s a word game, I’m not remotely interesting in “serving ice cream cones”. Ridiculous. And no ... it doesn’t lure me into paying extra for removing all the ads. It just makes me feel conned and angry. Then I move on!

  • In-App purchases

Way to many In-App purchases you have to do just to play extra levels. You already have ads all over the place and now you charge $2.00 for more levels. What a joke. It’s a fun game and I love to play Alpha Omega. But I’m disgusted at the fact that I have to pay money to continue playing other levels, when there are already ads in between each level and if you are stuck, to watch more ads to receive helpful hints. Needless to say, I will not be playing this game anymore until at least some extra puzzle packs become free.

  • I’m addicted! Great puzzles but challenging!

I enjoyed the introductory pack so much that in spite of telling myself the entire time that I would not purchase the remaining packs, I did it anyway. Uh-oh, my bad. I did not take the time to read the categories closely enough, or just did not realize how many levels there would be in each category. I’m still on “World of Sports” and I have never watched most of the categories of sports that are in that section and I now realize I know NOTHING about most of them. Of course, the hints are there, but if you have never heard the terms before they don’t help much. Plus, it’s no fun to have the answers given to you. But I’m getting there. At least I can say I am learning something new all the time! And I am addicted - I just can’t stop playing regardless of how hard it gets!!

  • Not able to purchase unlimited

    Hi developers!
Looks like the link to buy the unlimited helps and to get rid of advertisements isn’t working. I know I’m connected to the internet, every time I try to buy the pack, it tells me the service is not available. Would you like to get that fixed soon? I would sure love to opt out of all these advertisements!

  • Great base with potential for wonder

So crossword puzzles are not novel, new ones come out monthly it seems or even weekly. How does this one differ? Well it grants initial ‘hints’ by allowing knowledge of the first/last letters- hence the game title. And that part is good and works well. However then you have a closer look at this ‘free’ (uhhuh yea right we all know that’s not true) game and everything else deeper under the first set of levels is an in-app-purchase. And if you’re content with the base package, then you have to deal with the annoying controls and interface. It does a poor job at best of highlighting which letter you have selected, level restart clears all progress even if you have straightened out many words and I’m sure the puzzles get broader, and ‘incompletion of puzzle’ shows up AFTER you’ve spent the time swapping letters randomly in futile attempts.
If the files and rows were fluid and could slide to swap letters and the letters were confined to certain files/rows (or the intersections instead were the known letters) they’d have a much better user friendly game.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback and "potential for wonder" - love it :) The in-app purchases are a simple mechanism to provide you the ability to try out an entire level pack for free, then pay for other premium content. These level packs take quite a bit of time to make. Trust me, the content is worth it when you get the Unlimited Pass. There's over 1,400 levels, unlimited hints, themes, no ads... As far as your feedback about highlighting letters and level restarts clearing progress - in this latest update (4.1.6) if you do have the Unlimited Pass then level progress is now saved for ALL levels - that is, until a level is restarted. This helps especially in difficult levels beyond the Original pack. And about letters and confinement - this is part of the game mechanic itself... letters can only be swapped once, which requires a bit of foresight and planning ahead. Letters are confined to a single row or column - unless that letter sits a row/column intersection. Again, thanks for your feedback - I really do hope you continue to play and give the Unlimited Pass a chance - it's a huge value. And as more level packs are coming in April and beyond, the price of it will likely rise (hint hint).
  • Great game but could use some tweaks.

This game is delightfully challenging and in terms of fun, if you’re a word game lover, this is a 5 star game. But, I’m leaving 3 stars because of one fairly frustrating flaw: when you reach the higher levels the rows and columns become too long and you can’t zoom out far enough to see the line from beginning to end. For a game modeled around the premise that your brain can unscramble a word/phrase given the first and last letters are in place, you should be able to zoom out far enough to see the entirety of the line. For example, the Famous Landmarks level in the All American pack is pretty much impossible without the use of hints. One of the answers is ‘Wright Brothers Memorial’ but you can only zoom out far enough to see ‘Wright Brot’ (11 squares) at once.

So, developers, if you see this and can fix it, you’ll have yourself a five star game!

Hey there thank you for the feedback!! Appreciate it much. I will be addressing this zoom-out issue in the next update so you can see more of the words. You are correct - many of the later, more complex puzzles do have longer words and being able to zoom out a bit further would help. Stay tuned for this update! :)
  • Fun game, but....

I’m giving this game 2 stars because it is a fun and relaxing word game. I made the one time purchase to unlock all levels and stop the ads, but now that I am at different levels, the puzzles are too large for my iPad screen and I don’t seem to be able to reduce the size! It has become too annoying because I can’t see all the letters in most of the words. Also, i can’t find any way of contacting the developer directly to see if there’s a solution. I expect better when I pay for a game.

  • Fantastic

I love word games but I get bored easily. I’ve made it through 20 levels so far. I adore this game. It’s just enough of a different concept to keep my attention. The music is very soothing. It’s challenging without making me feel stupid. Just an overall great game. I wish there was another way to unlock some of the other packs. We don’t often have extra money to spend on a game. I’m hoping to talk my husband into giving me a few buck to spend on it since it’s my birthday. Thank you for a great game!

  • That walkthrough was painful

Edit, the devs responded, so... Hey devs, I know y’all work hard, but maybe watch a few people use the app for the first time. I think you’ll see how it is unintuitive. I’m editing this in response but leaving the rating because that’s my rating of the game.

As far as the walkthrough, it would be better to just let people dive in, and then the first time they use up all their moves, then have a little pop up to let users know that they can click restart — that’s the only part of the walkthrough that users wouldn’t figure out on their own.

Hi, that walkthrough was created to provide a thorough yet concise tutorial about how to play and also how to use the game's features. Before it was as it is now I used to get negative reviews from users who didn't know how to play. I've sp ent lots of time making it as concise as possible - it's really only two levels long. Ultimately, it's better to be more instructive and thorough than not... sorry you found it long and painful. Hope you still enjoy the game afterwards and if so, would consider updating your rating ;) Thanks.
  • UI Problems

First of all the game is really good and exciting. Have no complaints about that.
Its just that when I purchased the no-ads option I cannot see the name of the puzzle when I play the game anymore due to the notch at the top. Hope a fix will come soon.
