Absolutely Stupid Interface for AirPlay
It’s virtually impossible to navigate an episode the way the app is designed. If you have to continue an episode later, it’ll often start it from the beginning. There are no controls in the app, so you have to use iPhone’s Rewind 15s button, which often is very laggy or does not work at all. They’ll also make you watch ads again for trying to navigate through an episode and if/when you return to AirPlay, it’ll just play the episode from the beginning again . It makes me think they haven’t even tested the app for AirPlay functionality. It’s absolutely maddening and deserves 1 / 5 stars because of it. Nice try, Pluto.
Update : just had to watch about 15 ads for drugs and gambling during one singular episode of Star Trek — the app would skip repeatedly during the ads, I would have to manually exit the app, and then it would return to the 2 minute in mark (I was 35 minutes into the episode) and have to watch 3 ads again in order to be at the very beginning of the episode again. Talk about torture. You can't fat forward when using apple play because of terrible app design so you have to switch back to watching on the phone — when you fast forward, you have to watch the same ads you've already watched again in order to continue where you were. Whoever is licensing programming to this trash app needs to stop immediately. Terrible experience. 0/5Show lessDeveloper Response

There is a lot of good programming available. Others have noted that the number of episodes played from various series is limited, and that various episodes are missing. This is not an issue with the app itself, but with the decisions by executives at Pluto.
The issues I have with the app involve continuing glitches. For instance, the Favorites tab with the channel guide is often unavailable, there when opening the app in some instances, but not there in others. Playback is occasionally spotty, with much stuttering. Also, playback of a given program will often end well before the top of the hour, resulting in extended playback of the Pluto bumper screen with music. Switching channels will occasionally freeze playback, and require closing and then restarting the app in order to resume playback.
So, all in all, there is quite a bit to watch, but the app itself needs work. If anyone notes that this is all “free”, and therefore undeserving of criticism, it should be remembered that viewers DO pay with their attention to all the commercials that provide Pluto with revenue.Show lessDeveloper Response

I will say this.. they have a heck of a good history channel. You will just have to keep watching different channels that they offer to see what you’ll like. But, you will eventually see every episode of whatever shows they have to offer. Pluto only has the rights for, like, the first few seasons of their popular modern tv shows. Their user interface is slow to load, and the commercial breaks have increased significantly on their movie channels. The user interface is by far the most frustrating thing, for me. Your channel always starts at the top of your favorites list, after you’ve watched a certain channel for awhile. But, if you don’t have any favorite channels picked, then they insist on getting you to pick a favorite channel by playing a sound that interrupts what you’re watching, to get you to put that channel on your fav. list. Quite annoying when you’re watching something that you’re really into.
Update: there seems to be a commercial break every five minutes, especially if you’re watching a movie. The commercial breaks have become so frequent, that I began looking for other streaming services. Sling and Roku tv aren’t as bad as Pluto, when it comes to commercial breaks.Show lessDeveloper Response
