### 3/5 — Fun app that could use an update

*2022-10-05*

Fun little synth with a great UX, unfortunately the resolution doesn’t stand up on a newer iPad Pro and it does support AUv3. The app would easily be worth more updated to a modern standard. As it is, it remains a novelty worth the 99 cents.

### 4/5 — Audiobus?

*2019-12-02*

Love this app, but will there ever be Audiobus support?

### 3/5 — Interesting character

*2018-03-16, version 2.32*

I wrote a bad review on this synth but I have since changed my mind it has a very interesting character to the sound. More features would be nice in future updates but overall it is very good sounding synth.

### 4/5 — Dear Never Be Normal Devolopers,

*2014-12-05, version 2.3*

please add virtual midi support.

thank you :)

### 4/5 — Not bad

*2014-08-29, version 2.2.2*

This app makes some good noises, but seems a bit flaky in my ipad2 Audiobus setup and sometimes freezes up.

Be nice to have a few more features and performance improvements but not bad overall.

### 4/5 — Great sounding monophonic synth

*2014-03-07*

With really nice character, warmth, filters and effects. However, it is VERY limited in that you can only save 8 presets (and this one is capable of a lot more then 8 sounds, so you constantly want more then 8 save slots). I have no idea why this hasn't been redesigned, either add a couple of bank buttons at least, or a regular menu system for unlimited presets. Please :)

Worth mentioning is that this can be used in Audiobus effect slots to drive external audio through its onboard filter and effects, which is a great addition.

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2013-09-26*

I've been through 5 other synth apps in an attempt to find a simple way to create the right sounds for my live performances. After taking a chance on this one I opened up "alive" by hillsong, played with the app, and had the exact sound in minutes. I highly suggest this app to all!! Better to have more quality options in a virtual synth then the crap quantity you find in the App Store. Cheap and great!!

### 4/5 — A 3.75 out of 5...some very good things here!

*2013-09-02, version 2.1*

I've been programming synths since 1976 and made a living as a pro synth/effects designer for major manufacturers for over 10 years...I kind of know synths. This is a little gem of an instrument with great potential.

The Good:
- Sound quality, ease of programming, design and control response: beautiful interface with excellent response to knob turning, very smooth and natural. Really good fundamental sound quality and a lot of sounds to be made with very limited available sources. So it's a pleasure to use, easy to program and sounds very good.
- Great sounding effects...phaser especially, beautiful sounding delay, excellent flanger and others. A bit difficult to get the patch cords to work and not sure the reason for them...why not an easier way to choose them into the two effect slots?
- Inexpensive....I mean really, the guy spent some time fine tuning the responsiveness of this instrument. What it does it does very well.

Suggested Improvements:
- I like the little "keyboard" control but the chosen scales are a bit limiting. Would also like to flip the mod pad and keyboard as I am right handed and would rather play with right hand and mod with left hand.
- Ability to send the envelope to the filter...this is THE glaring omission. Add one knob for Env in the filter box and I'd give it a 4.5
- Adjustable speed for the pitch mod Lfo and pitch bend depth on the mod pad..they both need to be adjustable.
- More preset slots...not enough.

Summary:
I have many of the iOS synths, Nave, Animoog, iMini, Magellan, iMS 20 and this one sounds really, really good. It's simplicity and sound is its forte...it's immediate and easy to get some great sounds and the quality of the sounds are very high. With a few additional features it would be a lot more enjoyable and powerful without getting complicated. I'd rather make some really nice, useable sounds than have a lot of choices with fair quality sound.

This is recommended as "one of" the synths on your iPad and with some updates it could be a top 5 go to instrument. Nicely done for where its at now and worth the price for sure.

### 4/5 — Sweet synth

*2013-07-03, version 2.1*

Awesome sounds, I only wish it had a keyboard!

### 4/5 — No Loops

*2013-06-23, version 2.1*

Great little app for manipulating LFO/ADSR. Sounds great and the interface is excellent. The one request I have to make this a perfect app is a 16 note loop editor like on a 303 or ImpOSCar.
Please make it so!!

### 5/5 — Great app, great sound

*2013-05-23, version 2.1*

Wonderful, warm sounds. I've been having a hard time creating nice, full baselines and lower synths with other apps, but this one is perfect. Great interface too.

### 4/5 — Classy &Nasty

*2013-05-13, version 2.1*

Nintendo Kung Fu 1976 bug puke!!

### 4/5 — BEAUTIFUL APP!

*2013-05-03, version 2.1*

I'M BIG ON DESIGN SO I WAS PLEASED TO SEE HOW THE LOOKS OF THE APP MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I'M HANDLING AN ACTUAL ANALOGUE SYNTH. THANKS FOR ADDING AUDIOBUS. IN THE NEXT UPDATE CAN YOU PLEASE ADD A KEYBOARD IN LANDSCAPE MODE ALONG WITH VARIOUS KEYBOARD SCALES TO CHOOSE FROM. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS WILL CREATE A SAMPLING DRUM MACHINE AS BEAUTIFUL

### 5/5 — Nice

*2013-04-11, version 2.0*

This app is great to play with. I really like it. I just only wish it had audio bus support.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2013-03-31, version 2.0*

I use this app every day - it's simple and funnn

### 3/5 — Was working great...

*2013-03-30, version 2.0*

Great mono synth and I would agree with others reviews that its limitations are both an asset and make it more realistic or true to original synths. Audiobus must come as a standard now in audio apps I feel however, and I cannot get any sound out of the 76 app at the moment, mysteriously it just stopped.
A great app, the latency issue is undesirable, but for the price the app is designed well, sensitively to original mono synth limitations and is useful.
Just want to get the sound back somehow....

### 5/5 — Best aesthetics I ever seen

*2013-03-29, version 2.0*

Period.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nice UI, useless instrument

*2019-04-11, version 2.32*

This thing sounds like crap. Looks great though.

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2012-06-18, version 2.0*

I cannot find documentation. Web page is no help. No intuitive to use. Save your money

### 1/5 — Move along, nothing to see here

*2012-01-15*

I really wanted to like this app. The sad fact is that the interface is awful and the sound is about as pedestrian as most of those freeware synthedit vst plugins. It completely abandons playability with its tiny note surface in favor of retro styling without any real purpose. With apps like animoog and synthx out there, there is really no reason to waste your money on this app. I'm a sucker for cheap music making apps, because you can find a use for most every one, but there's something about the 76 that I just loathe. do yourself a favor and move along...

### 2/5 — Portrait mode

*2016-10-03, version 2.32*

Could only get it to work in portrait mode which is no use to me.

### 2/5 — Buggy, crashes and hangs often

*2015-04-09*

Makes some pretty cool sounds. Pretty limited, but fair for the price. Navigation of interface is hit and miss, no clear indication that you need to swipe or tap things to get at additional app features (tutorial or instructions could help with this). The low stars are because the in-app record feature hangs and crashes every time, and the same when using external app such as audiobus/GarageBand, as it also tends to freeze/crash when resuming from background. All issues were experienced on iPad Air 2, running ios 8. An update is needed to fix crashes, since you can't record any sounds in current state.

### 2/5 — Not retina

*2013-03-03, version 2.0*

I was really turned off by the blurry interface

### 2/5 — Gorgeous, but shallow

*2011-12-08, version 1.1*

Very pretty, but doesn't seem to be very functional.

### 2/5 — Not worth the money

*2011-12-06, version 1.1*

Very simplistic sound generator. I wouldn't buy it again.

### 2/5 — Beautiful but insubstantial

*2011-10-30, version 1.0*

I too waited a long time for this gorgeous thing. Its skeuomorphic design is among the prettiest on iOS and evokes warm feelings, but the controls are incredibly touchy - almost any knob turn or slider adjustment wants to instead swipe to the next screen. Frustrating and fickle to use. The sound is great, though!

### 2/5 — The wait is worth it?

*2011-10-29, version 1.0*

I have been waiting for this app to release for almost a year now. I first saw pics of the design floating around and I knew instantly it had the beauty factor going for it. I then picked up DM-1 which had the same design it shortly became my favorite drum machine on iPad and it is turning into something great with updates.

The last few months 76 started getting more and more Internet exposure with hints of up coming release. I was stoked. I was taking closer looks and started to put the pieces together myself. I saw the basic waveform and synth parameters and knew just by those that the outcome of over one year of waiting for a brilliantly designed synth could well intact be nothing more then another "mobile synth" clone with effects. Low and behold, the app releases today and to my dismay that is exactly what the app feels like. I have seen about 25 different "synths" in the store all based around the "free" open source code to make synths that are all the same but use different interfaces and while this interface is the most beautiful of the "mobile synth clones" in the end it IS just that,a mobile synth clone! I think at one point I even tweeted that if this app ends up being a mobile synth clone I will kill myself :). Well with so many great iPad music apps out I'm not ready to do that just yet. However I'm am a little disappointed in the fact that such a brilliant design couldn't be teamed up with a more creative use of sound code. Here's hoping the app can grow into something more then something we have already heard before. After all it's one of a kind in design the sound should follow those same aspirations. Have fun with it.

### 5/5 — Best Sounding Synth for the IPad

*2024-01-26*

I have about 10 synths for the ipad and this is my go to synth. It just sounds incredible and the settings are easy to use. Plus it plays through my midi keyboard. I got pretty good at using the finger pad on the screen. Some times it sounds better that way but most of the time I use the keyboard. I love how you can pick the key and the mode. Plus it sounds organic like a real analog synth.

### 5/5 — Don't Underestimate This App!! It's High-Valued For a Low Price

*2019-01-13*

I've had this app for many years and never really took the time to "get into it"... This proved to be to my own loss. My lack of understanding regarding synths was what zapped my interest in this awesome artistic tool. Fast forward to present, and now I see this could have served as an indispensable, educational tool for a beginner like myself (as well as for the experienced). Hopefully more people will find and enjoy this hidden treasure!!

### 5/5 — Wow

*2017-04-10*

I am sorry I never tried this out sooner! It's very playable and the emulation sounds amazing. Excellent to use as an analog sounding Droner, to space out, or use for ambiance in tracks

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2016-02-22*

Simple easy to use analog sounds. Too awesome.

### 5/5 — So great

*2015-03-18, version 2.31*

One of my favorites for improve on tracks .i wish it could store more sounds by name.Still this is a VERY analog sounding synth model with a ribbon controller that shreds! I love it! Peace Christo

### 5/5 — 🎶 エ 💘 my 7⃣6⃣❕🎵📣

*2015-03-18, version 2.31*

エ've said it before and エ'll say it again一
"エ love my 76. And my 76 loves my fingers!".

エ live in a whole world of apps, many being music related, most of which are synths. This is because エ enjoy finger-jammin in a BIG, bad way... Like for instance; エ'll be sitting on the sofa and all of a sudden my fingers start the twitching. My index finger at first but over the course of 5 minutes the rest of them can't help but follow suit and join in with the fun and before エ can say "Yo, pass the iPad bad boy!" My whole finger party is in full swing and my knee is bouncing up and down to the rhythm of the crazy sound that, as of the moment, cannot be heard, well, this is until エ load up my 76 on my iPad and whack it under my moving, and grooving, fingers. Then エ just sit back and listen while my frantic fingers go to town with some of that beep boop beep beep boop that エ just love to hear.
So yeah, basically エ like this app. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Time flies...

*2014-03-17, version 2.2.2*

I bought this at 11pm it's now 1:30am. I thought it had only been 5 mins! This is something else,
I love it. More so that I just had to write a review,
Biggest value on the App Store. Going back for more now, sod work in the morn! Give me the sack so I can stay home all day and twiddle with this.

### 5/5 — Amazing Synth! Best on iPad!

*2013-12-13*

The truly is an amazing synth. The sound are excellent, and the touch matrix makes playing fun and intuitive. This is definitely my favorite synthesizer for the iPad. It utilizes the touchscreen much better than others I have used. I would recommend this to any musician or person looking just getting into synthesis.

### 5/5 — Wonderful!

*2013-11-19*

one of my favorite synths, and I own ALOT. sounds match it's interface, classy and warm. I'm sort of ashamed though, I've owned this app for over a year and only just discovered the effects today :P had no idea they were there but wow they just made it 10x better, I thought it was fine without the effects. little did I know the full ability. hah. now with audiobus it's just amazing. must have!

### 5/5 — Great synth!!

*2013-11-02, version 2.1*

Looks great and creates fantastic sounds!
