## What is 8 Hand?

8 Hand is a progressive rummy card game: eight hands, each with its own goal to build toward, and the lowest score after all eight wins. Draw, meld, discard — but the sets and runs you need change every round, so the game you're playing on hand eight isn't the one you started.

PLAY YOUR WAY
• Solo — practice anytime against named AI opponents that draw, discard, and steal with real strategy
• Local Network — gather everyone's devices on the same Wi-Fi and host a game in seconds
• Online — play with friends anywhere, matched and hosted through Game Center

BUILT FOR THE TABLE
• Drag and drop cards to draw, discard, and play them onto melds — or stick with tap-to-select
• Auto-Arrange finds a valid way to meet the hand's goal when you're stuck seeing the split
• A pre-hand ready check means everyone starts together, every time
• Back out mid-game and pick up right where you left off — solo, local, or online
• Two card designs and six table colors, so your table looks the way you want it to
• Configurable house rules for wild card count and going down and out
• Stats track your wins, losses, and win rate across every mode, right from the main menu
• 27 Game Center achievements to chase — including six secret ones — plus leaderboards for all-time wins, weekly wins, and achievement points

THE EIGHT HANDS
Every round raises the bar — from two simple sets of three on hand one, up to a set of three and a run of seven on hand eight. Wild 1s fill either a set or a run. Anyone can steal the top discard out of turn, but whoever's turn it is always gets first claim. First to empty their hand ends the round.

FREE TO TRY, ONE UNLOCK
Play Solo hands 1 and 2 free. The Full Game, a single in-app purchase, unlocks all eight hands, Local Network and Online games, and Game Center achievements and leaderboards. One unlock covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and you can share it with your family through Family Sharing. Anyone who bought 8 Hand before it became free keeps the full game. No ads, no accounts required, no tracking.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-30

8 Hand 1.2 is now a free download, with better online play and more control over the pace.

• Free to play: Solo hands 1 and 2 are free. The Full Game, a single purchase, unlocks all eight hands, Local Network and Online games, and Game Center. If you already bought 8 Hand, you keep everything.
• Online play, fixed up: accept a Game Center invitation from Messages or a banner and you land right in the game. Joining shows a Connecting screen with Cancel, and clear messages when something goes wrong.
• If an online host leaves, the others can leave too instead of waiting forever, and a host who stays on the scoreboard starts the next hand on its own after 15 seconds. Everyone in an online game now needs 8 Hand 1.2.
• Computer Player Speed: a new slider in Settings sets how fast the computer players act and steal.
• Steals fixed: tapping the discard pile just after someone else took the top card no longer takes the card underneath.
• Computer players now use "I Wanted That" too: steal a card they wanted and they may take it straight back.
• Stats show your current streak, such as Won 3 or Lost 2.
• Optimized for iPhone Duo.
• Accessibility: on iPhone and iPad, VoiceOver now announces the game as it plays. The Mac has a Game menu with keyboard shortcuts, and text is easier to read.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-16

8 Hand 1.1 adds Spanish, new house rules, and a lot of polish.

• Spanish: the whole game is now localized.
• AutoPlay button: plays every card that fits a meld (turn it on in Settings).
• "I Wanted That": call back a discard that was stolen at the start of your turn.
• New wild-card options: Extra (12) and Too Many (16), plus a house rule for swapping a natural card for a wild on the table.
• Runs now show the range they cover and what each wild stands for.
• Smarter Auto-Arrange for wilds, and tapping a card in a meld selects the whole meld.
• Game Center photos now appear on players' seats.
• Redesigned new-game screens with per-game house rules, and a Play Online lobby that matches.
• A taunts Off setting.
• Mac: Settings and About are now in the menu bar, and Card Design and Table Color are menus.
• A refined app icon, card backs, and enlarged meld view.
• Fixes for the first-solo-game and victory achievements and for Mac layouts.
