### 4/5 — Love 868 hack but control issues on iPhone

*2025-11-17*

I have this on steam and it’s a brilliant minimalist rogue like.
The problem with the iOS port is that you move up by dragging your character up which on iOS causes you to pull up your Lock Screen.
It’s not game breaking but I wish you could just tap or something

### 2/5 — Needs To Be Updated

*2024-12-19*

I remember this to be a great game when it first released. Saw that a new game by the dev is coming out. But this one does not render correctly on my iPhone 14 and needs to be patched to work correctly. Please fix or delist.

### 4/5 — Way too hard to hit the tiny buttons

*2023-07-20*

Pretty fun otherwise

### 5/5 — Less is more

*2023-02-16*

This game was my first introduction to MB’s games and I didn’t get it when I first played it. I’ve since come back to it a year later and now really appreciate the game design.

This is the first review I’ve ever written because I was moved by the recent update note. It also inspired me to purchase MB’s other games to support a creative indie developer doing something unique.

### 5/5 — The haters are wrong

*2023-01-14*

Anyone who didn’t give this a 5/5 is plainly a fool who prefers to be spoon-fed bland pap.

This game is a procgen strategy/puzzle tour-de-force with near-infinite depth, you just need to be clever enough to figure out how to survive! ;)

### 5/5 — le jeu fonctionne parfaitement maintenant

*2022-12-10*

la nouvelle version du jeu fonctionne sur mon nouvel ipad, super content j’aime bien ce jeu

### 4/5 — Latest update..

*2022-11-09*

Latest update Nov22 unfortunately reduces play area to a tiny box on my iPhone 6,this is a great game however

### 5/5 — No sound?

*2022-11-03, version 1.13*

Glad this still works on iPad, but there’s no audio?

### 5/5 — Please Update!

*2021-08-15*

This is one of my favorite games, and it’s unplayable in it’s current state. Please fix!! 🥺🥺🥺

### 3/5 — Fully luck dependent

*2021-05-12*

Not an impossible game, but certainly you're fully dependent on luck.

I've played >2000 games now, and I've run a counter on the past 1000 as mistake-free, and I haven't advanced beyond level 6.

Even super hard games like Hoplite give you a path to advance if you play a perfect level.

The game is not aging well, frequently requiring multiple rotations of the screen before it displays properly.

This aside, the game mechanic is wonderful, and worth experiencing.

### 5/5 — Wahnsinnig gut

*2020-05-09*

Wirklich ein fantastisches nerdiges Highscore-Roguelike. Aber Achtung: Nicht für Casual Gamer geeignet!

### 5/5 — A gem! Easy to learn - hard to master

*2019-11-26*

This game is a roguelike turn based tactical puzzler.

Don‘t let yourself be fooled by the screenshots of the (...ugly?) UI. Once you are playing the graphics turn out to be PERFECT for the game! (They still look the way they do though.)

You move your character (the smiley) through 8 levels of randomly generated labyrinths, while collecting resources and fighting enemies. Each turn your character may either move or shoot. On your way you can collect a wide variety of so called „programms“ which will give you different tactical options through use of resources.
That‘s pretty much it. And it‘s fun! And quite challenging.

As the title says: easy to learn but hard to master.
A perfectly balanced game.
A modern classic of mobile gaming.
Highly recommended!

### 4/5 — Says a lot about society

*2019-10-11*

I bet the joker would play this game. He would want to take down society, to save epic gamers from society. 10/10 would highly recommend.

### 2/5 — Sinnloses Geplänkel

*2019-08-23*

Einzig positive: Die App belegt gerade einmal 75MB.

### 5/5 — Hidden Gem

*2019-07-07*

It really sucks that all the freemium games top the charts and games like this are buried away in the app store....

I was looking for something with nice simple, clean mechanics but with soul. I found it in 868-hack.

No in app purchases (other than what seems to be an expansion, which is fine), no pay to win, no 786 different screens to navigate with loot boxes, "mail" messages with bonuses, crafting a billion variations of the same thing yada yada.

Just a cool, good looking (as in crisp, not wanna be realistic nonsense)game, simple to play but deep in strategy. Thanks dev!

### 1/5 — LUCK > skill

*2026-06-27, version 1.15*

Yep… deleted. This game sucks. Try writing a better tutorial.

Mostly luck, some skill. The rules are lame. For example, complete a sector and all resources RESET. The game tried to be RPG-ish by letting you continue to get a "score-streak" but seriously... The RESET RUINS this game. And lets talk about LUCK...

A massive RANDOM factor makes this game LUCK-DRIVEN. Random viruses will appear on board. You are constantly out-numbered. Some viruses teleport, others go thru walls. You are LUCKY if the ideal opposing program appears. Too much LUCK involved.

FYI, this plays like turn-based Pacman: move around the grid, avoid viruses, lure them into firing positions. HOPE you see an opposing program. HOPE the grid corridors are scattered to yor advantage. Complete a sector, RESET.

COMPLETELY LAME although amusing AND annoying. No stats, just a hacked up leaderboard. Too easy to lose, too much luck involved. Not worth the price.

### 1/5 — Great game but no longer works on iPhone SE!

*2022-11-11*

Amazing game. Download it and give it a try.

### 1/5 — Does not display properly iPad Pro 12.9 2021

*2021-11-12, version 1.12*

Game is skewed off the screen on the pro 12.9 2021 model making the game unplayable.

### 1/5 — Does support modern iPads

*2021-11-05*

The resolution is off the screen on the IPad Pro. Tried contacting the developer but he is unresponsive. Will pursue a refund.

### 1/5 — Problème d’affichage...

*2020-04-20*

Le jeux s’affiche en décalé en bas à gauche ce qui me cache une partie de la grille... déçus...

### 1/5 — Expansion for a fee

*2017-07-11, version 1.11*

I'm not a big fan of the developer charging a fee for the expansion. I think that updated to paid apps should be free and not at a cost. I'm a fan of the game but don't think that this was reasonable.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2015-10-02*

Instructions are incomplete. As a result you have to guess your way through. Gameplay is rudimentary, driven by luck and short. There are many better games out there.

### 1/5 — LUCK > skill

*2015-04-15, version 1.09*

### 1/5 — Clearly I'm missing something

*2014-09-29, version 1.09*

I hate this game. It's not worth the money, to get precisely no fun in return. I don't like any of this guy's games.

### 1/5 — Achtung!!!

*2014-06-28*

Das Spiel ist keine 5€ wert!!! Wäre höchstens 1€ wert!!! Totale verarsche

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Legend

*2026-04-22*

Don’t let the limited reviews scare you. This is one of the most famous rogues of all time. Incredible game play where every move matters. Absolutely worth the money even if it’s hard.

### 5/5 — Great, short puzzle roguelike

*2026-04-22, version 1.15*

I had a great time reviewing this for our podcast on roguelike games (https://grogpod.zone). I wasn’t sure how it would play from watching videos, but the actual experience of it was fun!

Your goal is to get points through 8 levels and if you survive, continue a new run and see how far your score can go. There’s lots of smart game design here which is only made better in the upcoming sequel 868-BACK. It’s a small scope game, but the interactions and theme really do feel like a pulse pounding heist on the final level when you’re trying to escape with your hacked point total.

Very fun to play at a group gathering or have friends to compare scores with. If there was ever a roguelike only arcade, this would go right next to the Spelunky cabinet.

### 5/5 — Go to mobile game

*2026-03-22*

This and Hoplite are top shelf mobile game essentials. Imbroglio, made by this developer, is also good.

This game in particular is deceptively simplistic looking. Good depth in these games.

The games are easy to jump into and out of.

If you wanna step up and go to AA experiences, another deceptively simplistic looking game is the one by the creators of FTL - ‘Into the Breach’.

Mobile essentials.

### 5/5 — Thanks for the Update

*2026-02-28*

Working great on my iPhone 14. Fun game.

### 5/5 — gl bro

*2025-10-26, version 1.15*

waiting for all your new games

### 5/5 — One of my best game

*2025-10-19*

This game is just perfect! Takes time to try, play… it’s really hard to master. The extension is really a nice one!

### 5/5 — Phenomenal

*2025-07-05*

cyber roguelike featuring innovative and compelling gameplay, elegantly intertwined mechanics, and brilliant design.

### 5/5 — Best game ever and kinda like pac-man

*2024-08-02*

This is the best game ever that I have ever played in my life

### 5/5 — In my app Hall of Fame

*2023-05-15*

This is my most-played iPhone strategy game ever. Was obsessed with it for months and still play regularly. It’s super challenging (and, yeah, a roguelike so there are luck elements) but rewarding and deep as you get a better and better idea of the tactics.

### 5/5 — Problems

*2023-04-14, version 1.15*

Great but no longer playable on iPhone SE 2020. Can’t click on most procs on the right.
