### 4/5 — Not for me

*2026-07-27, version 2.4.1*

I was excited to try this when I learned about it at Oshkosh. I downloaded it and played with it on the first night and had multiple issues trying to get things to work. The next day I went back to the kiosk and talked to one of the sales guys there and they helped me through some of the problems I was having. But just making a flight plan is confusing. Attempting to search for restaurants and gas prices cluttered the screen to the point where things were on top of each other and unreadable. It’s not compatible with either of my 2 ADSB receivers. Also, it seems that the software requires a constant Internet connection to work. When flying in the airplane without an Internet connection, I couldn’t get anything to work at all. I had high hopes for this software. A lot of E FB software is difficult to use in the airplane, which is why I wrote my own. Hopefully they can clean this up and make it more user-friendly and easy to use while flying.

### 4/5 — Great value

*2026-02-17, version 2.1.27*

This EFB is an intuitively designed app that is optimized for Starlink and xm weather data streams. It’s is easy to follow without all of the onscreen clutter of Garmin Pilot or Foreflight. It is still being actively developed and new features are driven by the customer base. Overall a great app for pilots.

### 4/5 — Good start

*2025-10-17, version 2.1.3*

Really like the app, especially for Alaska flying with the color coded FAA cameras on the map for quick reference. The only critique so far is the flow of the flight planning, when you click on an airport to look at the weather would speed the flow up to add the quick links for details and direct to at the top like in the more function of holding your finger down on the map to see the nearest Navaids and airports. Definitely has some cool features compared to ForeFlight for less than half the price.

### 4/5 — Waiting for a few more features

*2025-03-18*

Tried last summer on a trip from CYTZ to KTEB. Really liked the radar feature and fuel prices as well as the other FBO prices. Spot on. As a Canadian I’m still waiting for a few more features before I make the switch. Ie logbook feature and a few more Canadian specific things. VNC charts and more airport info.
Look forward to those few features being implemented and I’ll be onboard.

### 3/5 — Nice idea

*2025-03-04, version 2.0.24*

I gave it a try. I honestly don’t see how it’s better than Foreflight. I found it difficult to figure out. It was constantly downloading updates and unreliable. I wanted it to work but I think it’s too much $ for what it is right now. Maybe I’m missing something but I gave it an honest try.

### 5/5 — Great data

*2025-01-25, version 2.0.9*

Really glad to have an app for the data I can’t get in the other EFB apps!

### 5/5 — Amazing Application

*2025-01-24, version 2.0.9*

Thanks so much Matt for all the hard work you have put in to this! I love the FBO ice cream finder pretty cool! Also love the detailed weather information and imagery. It comes in helpful when navigating around not so great weather.

### 5/5 — Fuel Pricing

*2025-01-23, version 2.0.9*

Writing this review to share a positive experience I had vs firefight. On a recent flight at night in a R44 I needed to find a full service FBO at 10pm. ForeFlight offered me nothing, 8 flight gave me hours and current pricing for fuel (ForeFlight didn’t have gas prices at an international airport?)

I’m also writing this review because Matt owes me money, despite this the review is genuine.

### 5/5 — You won’t be dissatisfied

*2025-01-23*

Version 2 is even better, finally something like this exists!

### 5/5 — Significant Improvements

*2025-01-23, version 2.0.8*

Super useful for FBO information and fuel prices as well as en route meal stops. Developers have gone to great lengths to lower latency for weather products and have expanded flight planning options. Develop team are pilots and are providing frequent updates.

I saved enough on fuel on my LAS to SQL flight to pay for the subscription.

### 5/5 — Quickly becoming a ForeFlight replacement

*2024-03-18*

Originally I downloaded this app for the airport restaurants and hotels features but this app is regularly updated with more and more features! Makes trip planning much easier and the new weather really is faster and more up to date than it’s competitor aviation apps!

### 3/5 — Caribbean

*2024-02-13, version 1.1.1*

The map and fuel stop at the edge of St Lucia. The fuel availability and pricing is incomplete for the Caribbean. This has potential, but needs refinement. Keep working on it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t compare at all

*2025-01-19, version 2.0.5*

Downloaded after all the pomp in Matt’s videos. Doesn’t compare to the competition at all. To be fair, I’m sure those apps weren’t stellar in their early days. Glitchy maps, app crashed 3 times, no data on my home airport, very rudimentary in general.

### 1/5 — Wanted this to be more

*2024-11-03, version 1.3.16*

I have to say that foreflight shows way more info. I have compared the data and seems to be the same. Weather is same. This app is very simple l, so simple it shows nothing. Wasted my money! Love Matt’s videos though!

### 1/5 — Create account first

*2024-08-30*

I can’t stand the applications that require you to create account first before being able to see the pricing.

### 1/5 — Can’t login

*2024-08-30*

I’ve tried numerous times to use this app have deleted it and re-downloaded off the App Store a number of times. Get a spinning wheel and can’t login. Useless

**Developer response:** The subscriptions weren’t available in Australia at that time.

### 1/5 — Not impressive

*2024-01-11, version 1.0.9*

It's glitchy and doesn't give me any info i can't find elsewhere for free

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2026-07-22, version 2.4*

The “map” is truly spectacular and the weather overlays are even better…but it’s not intuitive on some of the most basic functions needed to be useful. Too much “programmer” and too little “pilot” in my opinion. I do hope they improve.

### 2/5 — Honestly disappointed

*2025-01-27, version 2.0.10*

This app leaves a lot to be desired in its current state. It’s being marketed as the killer to other EFBs, but I really don’t see a single thing here (outside of up to date fuel pricing, which could be accomplished with a literal 15 second call. Call them as you open your hangar door and it’s a net negative since you aren’t wasting any time.) that stands out as “better” than the big apps with more features. If this had checklists, weight and balance, garmin integration, crosswind factor (or, frankly, any runway information as all it shows is a map and the longest runway), logbook, weather forecasts beyond just what the sky will look like, satellite map, the ability to download the world updates when I want and not blow through my data without a way to pause for me to get on FBO WiFi, ….. I might consider jumping to this full time.

I enjoy Matt’s videos and try to support where I can. I think there’s certainly potential, but I open up foreflight and it just seems “right”. The map seems a bit busy for my taste and I can’t seem to understand why it’s so cluttered with no way to turn that off.

Keep it up Matt, I’m going to keep my subscription as a “thank you” for the videos but I really hope there’s some significant feature additions and upgrades to the system soon.

### 2/5 — Northwest Angle / Angle Inlet (the top of Minnesota) VFR chart is not present

*2024-04-11*

Foreflight shows it when in their VFR mode, but 8Flight cuts off half that US sectional chart, right along the 49th parallel.

### 2/5 — Multiple issues

*2024-01-07, version 1.0.6*

1. Downloading a fresh map has now been going for more than 10 minutes. Either they don’t have a CDN, or don’t have it well configured. I just downloaded UBUNTU ISO is a couple of minutes. Fiber to the house with symmetrical 1gig service. So not my connection issue.

2. UI needs work. When in Map view, the other choices at the bottom of the main display award are NOT easily visible. Needs much better contrast between the map back ground and the “FBO / MAP / PROFILE” selection options.

3. Don’t see any option to search based on TOD, SS, FS, price range, etc…

IMHO, Not GA (general availability) release at this time. More like Beta or EA (early adopter)

WIll check / validate fuel prices once the map downloads…. Still waiting.

### 3/5 — Better, but still not there

*2026-04-28, version 2.3.3*

I previously wrote a review for 8 Flight version 1, v2 has fixed a lot of the issues that I’ve seen, but it just gives off this overwhelming belief that the entire thing was built by AI without a lot of testing, a lot of random glitches and bugs, I’ve found the fuel pricing and FBO fees to be either completely inaccurate or outdated more than I expected (probably 10-15% of the time, but the app touts 99.9% accuracy). Better than it was though, for sure.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth giving a try

*2026-08-05, version 2.4.1*

After using ForeFlight for many years, it’s nice to have another EFB option. There is a learning curve with this one. I met the team at Oshkosh 2026. They explained and showed how everything worked. I stopped in numerous times with questions that were always answered. Matt has always returned any emails sent to him in an extremely timely manner. I’m looking forward to using this in the future. Thanks , Matt.

### 5/5 — The Future of EFBs

*2026-07-28, version 2.4.1*

This is the EFB ForeFlight and Garmin Pilot users dream about at night. Detailed and accurate weather with a 7 day forecast right on the map. Fuel prices that are actually accurate and up to date. Geo-referenced charts, profile view with fixed depicted in an easy to read view. Imagine getting the $400 tier features for a fraction of the price with an app that just works and has common sense navigation and features. Does Everything. Period.

### 5/5 — Best EFB on the Market

*2026-02-18, version 2.2*

I switched to 8Flight as soon as I heard that ForeFlight was being sold to a PE. I was already looking to get away from FF because they were overpriced and kept raising prices without adding more features. I found 8Flight about a year ago and I have no regrets switching to it.

I’ve been using 8Flight now for almost a year. It has THE best weather radar imagery out of any EFB. The turbulence and clouds layers are also really accurate. The flight planning is easy to use and you can file any kind of flight plan.

The app gets regularly updated with new innovative features. Its price beats(significantly) out both of the big name EFB’s yet offers/will offer the same features.

Keep up the great work 8Flight team!

### 5/5 — 8Flight restaurants and attractions

*2026-02-03, version 2.1.27*

The airport restaurants and attractions displayed on the map really make it helpful when traveling cross country and also give us ideas to go in our Bonanza. Couple that with accurate fuel prices take the guess work out of our planned stops. Love it!!!

### 5/5 — ADSB

*2026-01-31, version 2.1.27*

The team has rolled out excellent features! Finally GDL90 support. My biggest problem were the SIGMET/AIRMET overlays which cluttered the map. I’m GA flying under FL100 so a lot of these were irrelevant beyond flight planning phase.

### 5/5 — Made the switch!

*2025-12-09, version 2.1.15*

I’ve used many EFBs over the years, but I’ll be sticking with 8Flight. Super clean design and no fluff. I can’t say enough good things about the realtime weather and overall fidelity of the data (fuel, FBO, etc). Highly recommend for any GA pilots.

### 5/5 — The app literally paid for itself on my first flight

*2025-12-09, version 2.1.14*

The live FBO pricing made planning super straightforward, and the difference in fees between stops was more than the entire cost of the app. It made choosing the right airports incredibly easy and saved me money right away. Highly recommended for anyone who wants real, immediate value from an EFB.

### 5/5 — Quality Product

*2025-12-03, version 2.1.13*

Fast and intuitive app. Weather radar is superior to other EFB’s. Excited to see future updates.

### 5/5 — Real-time fuel, fees, and weather

*2025-02-19, version 2.0.17*

Absolutely love this new EFB! The real-time fuel prices and FBO fee updates are helpful, saving me both time and money. It makes checking the weather so much faster and the accuracy is spot-on. The app provides all the essential tools in one place, but if I could offer one suggestion: declutter the default map, please. Sometimes I just want to look at a map. Overall highly recommend it for anyone looking to streamline their flight planning

### 5/5 — Phenomenal Weather Info!

*2025-01-25, version 2.0.9*

The live radar and up to the minute METARs are better than others and worth it just for that. All the FBO, planning, and related info is great. Right now using this with another flight app, but as this app keeps adding needed features, it will be all I need.
