## What is 8mb?

8mb makes any photo or video fit a size limit — fast, private, and right on your phone.

Hit a wall trying to send a clip on Discord, attach a photo to an email, or upload to a form with a strict size cap? 8mb shrinks your file to the exact budget you choose and saves a copy to your Photos library.

HOW IT WORKS
- Tap Share on any photo or video and choose 8mb — the size picker opens right over the share sheet. No app-switching.
- Or open 8mb and pick something from your library.
- Choose a target (default 7.99 MB, or 5 / 3 / 1 MB, or anything on the slider) and tap Compress.
- A resized copy lands in Photos. Your original is never touched.

SMART COMPRESSION
- Photos: quality is tuned to the largest size that still fits your budget, downscaling only when it has to.
- Videos: re-encoded (H.264 + AAC) at a bitrate computed to hit your target, downscaling resolution only when needed.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
- Everything happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded. No account, no sign-in, no tracking.

Sizes use 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, matching what Photos and Files show, so when you ask for 7.99 MB you get a file that actually fits an 8 MB limit.
