## What is 8PWD?

Your passwords, passkeys and 2FA codes stay on your iPhone, iPad and Mac — nowhere else.
The App Store label says “Data Not Collected”, there's no account, and it works in Airplane Mode: 8PWD has no networking code and we run no server that could leak.
Move in from Apple Passwords, Chrome or another password manager in two minutes; viewing, copying, exporting and deleting always stay available.

MOVE IN ON DAY ONE
The first launch walks you through importing: one tap from Apple Passwords (no plain-text file), pasted text, a CSV from Chrome, Firefox, Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass and others, or a Google Authenticator transfer code. Then turn on AutoFill and set 8PWD as your code app, one tap each.

WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU
• Sign in with a tap: system AutoFill in Safari, apps and on Mac. Signing up or changing a password? 8PWD generates one that follows the site's rules and saves it when you tap Save (iOS 26.2+).
• Built-in 2FA: scan a QR code once and the code appears above the keyboard. No second app; recovery codes live with their 2FA code.
• Passkeys: create and keep passkeys and sign in with Face ID; sites can upgrade you to a passkey right after 8PWD fills a password.
• Link 2FA codes, credit and debit cards and identities to accounts; aliases remember old email addresses and phone numbers.
• Next Step on Home walks you through setup in 7 steps, from bringing passwords in to your first backup.
• Calm leak alerts: 1,000,000 publicly leaked passwords, checked on your phone with no requests sent. Being on the list doesn't mean you were hacked — it tells you what to do.
• Account deletion guide for 2,100+ sites, with a ready-made request; the site guide shows which sites support 2FA and passkeys.
• New phone: AirDrop an encrypted backup and import it — smart merge keeps the more recently edited copy of each record. .8pwd is an open format (CC0) and plain CSV export is there too.
• View a password large to type it on a computer or TV; share Wi‑Fi as a QR code.
• Travel mode hides chosen folders or members everywhere until you turn it off with Face ID. Nothing is deleted.
• A section for each family member, and Easy mode on iPhone: big type, fewer steps.
• Native on iPhone, iPad and Mac, in twelve languages, with accessibility throughout.

HOW IT'S PROTECTED
Everything is stored as AES‑256‑GCM ciphertext; the key is created on your device and kept in the system keychain. With a master password (600,000 PBKDF2 rounds) or Face ID / Touch ID the vault opens; a 12-word recovery phrase takes over on a new device. We hold none of these. No analytics, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs; the only network request is Apple's StoreKit when you buy.

TRIAL AND SUBSCRIPTION
A 7-day trial with every feature starts the first time you save or import something — no payment details needed. After that, subscribe monthly or yearly (the yearly plan supports Family Sharing). When a trial or subscription ends, nothing is deleted: every record can still be viewed, searched, copied (verification codes included), exported and deleted. If you installed before 5.0, you keep the free plan with 10 passwords; Lifetime purchases stay valid forever. Prices are shown on the store page; one purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple Account.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU START
We hold no copy of your key. Lose the device before setting a master password — or later both the master password and the recovery phrase — and only your own backup can bring the data back. Export one when the app reminds you.

Available in twelve languages; English legal texts prevail.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 5.0 — 2026-10-17

5.0 rebuilds day one, AutoFill and pricing. As always, everything runs only on your device — nothing is uploaded.

• Pricing has changed: if you install 8PWD now, a 7-day trial with every feature starts the first time you save or import something — no payment details needed. After that, subscribe monthly or yearly. When a trial or subscription ends, nothing is deleted: every record can still be viewed, searched, copied (verification codes included), exported and deleted. If you installed before 5.0, you keep the free plan with 10 records; Lifetime purchases stay valid forever.
• Move in on day one: the first launch walks you through importing — one tap from Apple Passwords, paste a pile of text, a CSV from another password manager, or a Google Authenticator transfer code (scan it or pick a screenshot). On iPad and Mac you can open a .8pwd exported on another device.
• Turn on AutoFill with one tap — the system simply asks whether to allow it, no hunting through Settings — and set 8PWD as your verification code app in one tap, so codes appear right above the keyboard when a website asks.
• Smarter AutoFill (iOS 26.2 and later): when you sign up or change a password on a website, 8PWD generates one that follows the site's password rules and saves it when you tap Save. Sites where you've just filled a password from 8PWD can also upgrade you to a passkey automatically.
• Next Step on Home walks you through setup in 7 steps — bring passwords in → turn on AutoFill → try it once → set the verification code app → add a two-factor code → set a master password → make your first backup — with a progress bar. Backup reminders are now on by default, gently, about every 14 days.
• Smart merge: when you import a .8pwd, records that exist on both devices keep the more recently edited copy, and a replaced password goes into its history; afterwards you see how many were added, updated and kept. Records deleted on the other device are not deleted here. The .8pwd format moves to version 8; older versions still read it.
• View a password large: one tap on the detail page shows it in big, grouped characters, handy for typing it on a computer or TV. On Mac, the inspector can also share a single record encrypted.
• Leak warnings are clearer and calmer: a password on a public leak list doesn't mean your account was broken into, the check runs only on this device, and they tell you what to do. When a website says a passkey no longer works or a password is no longer needed, 8PWD only marks it — you decide whether to delete it.
• The app is now called 8PWD. The Hebrew interface is no longer available; if you used it, 8PWD now appears in English.
• On Mac, redeem offer codes right in the app. Plus many smaller improvements and fixes.

### 4.0 — 2026-10-15

This update ties each account to its 2FA codes, bank cards and IDs. As always, everything runs on your device — nothing is uploaded.

• One account, everything linked: a 2FA code, bank card or identity can belong to several accounts, and an account can hold several of each. The picker lists every 2FA code with its note and a live preview; cards and identities show the accounts that use them, and you can unlink from either side.
• Aliases: give an account its other sign-in names — an older email, a phone number, a username. Search finds them and AutoFill offers each one as its own suggestion; when importing from another password manager, same-site, same-password rows can merge into one account.
• 2FA recovery codes: keep the backup codes a website gave you with the matching 2FA code, masked by default, copied in one tap. They travel with .8pwd backups and the 2FA CSV export, and imports recognise “recovery codes / backup codes” columns.
• Me › My Shortcuts (iPhone & iPad): your favourite features in a grid of up to 12 — long-press to rearrange or remove, with suggestions below; the layout is saved in your backups.
• Duplicate an entry: get a copy with the same fields and a “copy” title right after the original, opened for editing.
• Clipboard: copied passwords no longer vanish after 30 seconds. To clear them automatically, turn on “Auto-clear clipboard” in Settings › Security — 30 s, 1, 2 or 5 minutes, or your own delay — and choose to keep copies on this device only, away from Universal Clipboard.
• Simpler backups: backup and backup reminder are now one module. Reminders are off by default; a small red dot on the Me tab points the way until you look or back up once, and the first-run guide can switch reminders on.
• Reached the 10-entry limit? Use everything for 7 days before you decide — no payment details, nothing leaves your device; afterwards every record stays viewable, searchable, copyable and autofillable.
• An empty Home now offers two starts: import passwords, or scan a 2FA code.
• Updated site guide, account deletion guide and brand icons; accessibility and many small refinements.

### 3.1 — 2026-10-12

The biggest update since 2.0. Everything below runs on your device — nothing is uploaded.

• Has one of your passwords leaked? The app now tells you: a list of 1,000,000 common breached passwords ships inside and is checked on your phone. One leaked password caps your score until you change it, and every account shows its status tags — leaked · two-step · passkey · deletable.
• Passkeys: 8PWD can now create and keep passkeys for websites and apps. The private key is generated on your device and stays there; it goes into a backup only when you tick “Include passkeys”, which encrypts that backup.
• Account deletion guide (2,100+ sites, in your language, with ready-made request letters) and a site guide showing which sites support two-step login and passkeys — right on each account.
• A new Home: open the app and see your security grade and the one thing to do next; every feature as a card, plus your recently used accounts.
• Security check-up: one tap re-scans every password, compares with last time, keeps a timeline and awards eight badges; export it as a PDF. It also lists accounts whose site offers authenticator codes you haven't set up yet, with step-by-step guides.
• Bank cards and identities: scan a card and fill the number, expiry and security code from the keyboard; identities hold several emails, phones, addresses and documents and fill sign-up forms field by field.
• Codes count down in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen (iPhone); the Home Screen widget matches.
• Bring passwords over in three steps; imports land in your list and merge into existing groups instead of creating duplicates. Groups gain Quick Lists (Favorites · Trash · Ignored), and same-name groups merge in one tap.
• Every list works the same way: sort, select, batch delete and search — passwords, groups, codes, Wi‑Fi, bank cards, identities and passkeys alike. Every “Add” button says what it adds.
• New phone? Move or merge the whole vault over AirDrop with a one-time code. Share an entire group encrypted; print a one-page Emergency Kit PDF for your family.
• Trust pages: “How to prove 8PWD is offline” and “Your data stays yours” — including how to check with the iOS App Privacy Report yourself.
• 3,400+ brand icons offline; Arabic, Hebrew and Russian added — thirteen languages.
• A quieter paywall: it appears only after your first action; free users always see how much they've used, and the Pro vs. free comparison is one tap away.
• Accessibility across the app: readable button names, larger tap targets, Dynamic Type up to the largest sizes, and Reduce Motion respected.
• Dozens of small fixes from your feedback — thank you.

### 2.0 — 2026-10-06

• AutoFill 2.0 (iPhone / iPad): the picker is redesigned — the site at the top, the best matches as cards, and every other account one tap away. When several accounts fit one site you choose; the one you picked last time is remembered for that site.
• Verification codes fill themselves: 2FA codes linked to an account now appear in the keyboard’s AutoFill suggestions and in the picker, with a countdown. Any field — PIN, recovery code, card number — can be inserted into any text box from the keyboard.
• Title with a real Edit button and a large editing view: the account name is shown big with “Edit” next to it; tapping any field name or value opens a full-width editor with quick picks — no more squinting into a tiny box.
• Field management: hide fields you don’t need (they stay in your backups and can be restored) or delete them for good. A Field library under Settings › Vault decides which names appear in “+ Field”, in any order you like.
• Share one record encrypted: pick “Share encrypted” on an account and send it by AirDrop, Messages or Mail as a .8pwdshare file. It is AES-256 encrypted on your device with a one-time 6-digit code you tell the recipient; they open it in 8PWD. No server, ever.
• Travel mode (off by default): choose folders or members to hide; while it is on they vanish from lists, search, AutoFill, widgets and Quick Access. Turning it off asks for Face ID / Touch ID or your passcode.
• Mac: Quick Access shows the current 2FA code with its countdown right in the results; copy it with ⌥⏎ as before. Mac goes straight from 0.0.2 to 2.0 and includes everything from 1.1: Easy text sizes, color schemes, anti-theft encryption, recovery phrase, redesigned Pro page and the lock-screen fix.
• Tapping a plan on the App Store product page opens that plan directly; a rating card on the “Me” page replaces guesswork; the Security report title no longer gets cut off; Apple Passwords users get a two-step import hint on first launch.
• Liquid Glass surfaces on iOS 26 / macOS 26 for the AutoFill picker, editing view and cards, with the familiar look on older systems.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-29

• Easy Mode (iPhone): large text, fewer steps. Save, find and print passwords with big buttons; Language, Standard and More sit right under the title, Import and Export at the bottom. Choose it on first launch or in Settings › Appearance › Easy Mode / Standard.
• Color schemes (Pro): eleven of them — Amber, Navy, Crimson, Emerald, Gilt, Graphite, Violet, Azure, Teal, Rose and Mocha. Tap one to see the whole app in that color before you decide. Settings › Appearance › Color Scheme.
• Text size: a list of sizes under Settings › Appearance that resizes the whole app, with its own range for Easy Mode. (On Mac, text size follows System Settings › Displays.)
• Anti-theft encryption: the former Data encryption setting, renamed for what it does. Turn it on and the vault opens only with your master password or Face ID / Touch ID — a stolen phone with a known passcode still can't open it. It can be turned off again.
• Recovery phrase: print it or save it as a PDF from the same page — when you turn on anti-theft encryption, and later under Anti-theft encryption › View recovery phrase.
• The Pro page is four short steps instead of one long scroll: what you get, every feature, free vs Pro, then the plans — where the free version is a plan card of its own. Easy Mode gets a one-screen version.
• Biometric unlock is off by default: a new install opens straight into the vault, protected by your device's own lock. Turn it on under Security, where auto-lock now also offers 30 minutes and 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours.
• Export: plain file by default; turn on “Encrypt this backup” to add a password. Top bar buttons now say what they are — Menu, Add, Tools. “What's New” no longer pops up after an update; a small dot on its tile tells you there is something to read.
• Fixed: printing a single password did nothing on some printers; the sort/filter row and the eye button had different heights on iPhone 18 Pro; leaving an unsaved password by swiping back skipped the confirmation; a “Done” button above the keyboard.
• Also: “Pro features at a glance” under Settings › 8PWD 2026 Pro, for everyone; Data location & erase is now Factory reset; long field values wrap; saving a password returns you to the list; Easy Mode gets custom fields, a visible scroll bar and equal-size buttons.
• iPad and Mac: the first-launch screens and the Pro page use two columns on wide screens; lists, the sidebar and the reports refresh the moment you save; Mac forms share one grouped style, the table shows row lines and can delete, move or favourite several rows at once, the ribbon gains a Settings tab and the menu bar a Settings menu; the unlock screen accepts clicks again after locking.
• Also: no more flash of the master-password box on first launch; “Long unchanged” is adjustable from 1 month to 5 years and drives the score, the smart group and the reports; typing a password warns you if another account already uses it; the feature tour no longer pops up by itself; a member with no passwords now says so instead of showing an empty vault; several settings groups and items were renamed (Reports is now Security report).
• Requires iOS 18 / macOS 15 or later.
