## What is 9 Card Golf?

Some games take a minute to learn and years to put down. This is one of them.

Golf is the classic card game with a delicious twist: the LOWEST score wins.

Flip a small grid of cards, then draw and swap your way to the smallest total you can manage - weighing a cheap card now against holding out to line up a match that wipes cards clean off your board. Every turn is a tiny gamble, and that push-your-luck itch is what quietly turns one round into ten.

Whether you have never played Golf or you grew up playing it around the kitchen table, this one is for you.

HOW IT PLAYS
You tend a small grid, most of the cards face down. On your turn, take the top of the deck or the discard pile and swap it for a card you would rather lose. Low cards are gold: a King is worth zero, and a sneaky Jack is your secret weapon at minus two. Match cards up the right way and they cancel out completely. When someone reaches the target score, the lowest total takes the game. You will have it in a hand or two - and be plotting three moves ahead by your third.

A GAME FOR EVERY MOOD
- 4-card: quick and friendly, a full round in about two minutes. Perfect for a coffee break or your very first game.
- 6-card: the traditional Golf so many of us grew up on, with room to scheme.
- 9-card: the deep, strategic one - play the long game and outthink your opponent to the finish.
Same simple goal every time. Just pick the size that fits the moment.

A COMPUTER OPPONENT THAT ACTUALLY THINKS
Play offline against three levels of AI, from a relaxed beginner to a genuinely sharp challenger that reads the discard pile and plays the odds against the cards you are collecting. Great for practice, and a real fight when you want one.

PLAY ANYWHERE, WITH ANYONE
No account, no sign-up, and no internet needed to play the computer - it is all right there the moment you open the app. Pass and play with 2 to 4 people on a single iPhone, with an optional hand-off screen so no one peeks. Family game night, road trips, waiting rooms: sorted.

Completely free, with no in-app purchases - nothing locked away, no catch. Switch up the theme and the cards until the table feels like your own.

Prefer to play at your own pace? Create a free account and take on a friend online, one move at a time - take your turn and we will nudge you when it is theirs. No clock, no pressure. (Online play is 9-card.)

Shuffle up. Lowest score wins. See how low you can go.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.10.0 — 2026-09-07

• Deleting a game is now more intuitive. Swipe a game in your list, or pick Delete game from the game board menu. Long press to delete has been removed.

• Pull down to refresh your games list or Rankings - now in both looks.

• Pop-up dialogs match the look you have chosen.

• Clearer screen-reader and keyboard support when searching for a player.

### 3.9.0 — 2026-09-03

Your profile, and badges to collect
  • A new Profile screen: games played, win rate, your lowest round and your recent form, at a glance.
  • Rivals: your record against everyone you have played, with a head-to-head page for each one - the scores of your recent meetings, your average against them, and your best win.
  • Achievements: 67 badges to collect across playing the computer, pass and play and online, with a celebration the moment you earn one.

Pass and play now lets you name the seats, so the hand-off says who is up.

The games list no longer overlaps itself at large text sizes, and an empty pile now looks empty rather than pretending it still has cards.

### 3.8.0 — 2026-08-28

Text size, everywhere
  • The game board now follows your system text size — cards, scores, names and labels all grow with it.
  • Screens that could not be scrolled at a large text size now scroll, so nothing is out of reach.
  • Names, scores, seat numbers and the tutorial pictures are no longer clipped when text is turned up.

A live scoreboard
  • The scoreboard now counts the round in progress — the order, the place numbers and the leader star follow where you actually stand, and rows move as players change place.

Celebration fix
  • The 4-card and 6-card games now celebrate a matched pair as a pair — the popup no longer calls it three of a kind.
  • Clearing your whole board now gets its own Perfect Board celebration.

### 3.7.0 — 2026-08-25

Now fully compatible with iPad, designed to take better advantage of the larger screen!

The feedback submission window now properly matches your selected theme.

### 3.6.1 — 2026-08-22

Bigger, easier-to-read text across the whole app — menus, settings, sign-in and the game screens.
The main menu now adapts to large system text sizes.
Stronger color contrast throughout, so labels and scores are easier to read in every theme.
Player colors are easier to tell apart, including if you are color-blind.
Bug fixes and small improvements.
