  • Excellent App but needs critical improvement to avoid being money sink

I would readily pay all $80 the developers want from us for this app suite! It is overall excellent and exactly what I was looking for in a to-do app. However, when I purchase a suite such as this, I assume that I will be able to use it at its current level of functionality for several years -- to put it on the same price level as $30/year subscription services like its peers. When things 3 came out, the developers dropped support for syncing in things 2! This is absolutely unacceptable as if I didn't want syncing I would not pay the extra $30 for the iPhone and iPad apps. I do not expect the developers to maintain expensive servers indefinitely, however.

The developers need to add support for syncing over iCloud like most other syncing apps on the App store, or my rating will remain low as I expect upon the advent of things 4, sync support will once again be dropped. This would allow users to use the $80 software suite that they paid for for as long as they choose, and purchase the new version if they feel the features so warrant it, not because the developers feel as though it is appropriate to extort users by disrupting their use of the existing software.

Hey there! When we released Things 3 in May 2017, we *continued* to offer support for Things 2, the old app. And despite discontinuing Things 2 (after more than 5 years of free updates, free new features, and free sync), the mobile apps continued to work for years on iOS versions which we hadn't even build Things 2 for. Sync for Things 2 was discontinued in 2020 due to technical reasons – a full three years (!) after the app had already been retired. So we really did our best to ensure that our existing users had a very long transition period, and weren't pressured into an update if they weren't ready for it yet.
  • Love this app

Great app so easy to learn and use especially for someone with ADHD who constantly jumps from task to task. The only thing i will say is it would be great to have a way to add a reminder serperate to the date the task/appt is. So set the date of when it is and add a reminder the night/day prior. I just select the date of when it is, but usually I have to add the reminder date as the date(so say a day or two before the actual date) and then type the date into the task/to-do title so that way I know when it is and I still get alerted the day before or prior. Other than that awesome! Sooo easy to use and love how there is a project to learn how to use the app! So many cool shortcuts and emailing sharing options, the more you know the better it gets! Thanks 🙏

  • Can we just…

For the love of GOSH. Can we please get a calendar view! 😅
  • Great Design

Nice, simple todo app that does everything it promises exceptionally well. The only thing missing is a web app or some way to use it from a Windows PC. Would be an easy 5 stars with that!
  • Feedback clear - act on it

There’s no doubt Things is a beautiful product and functional. Minor tweaks on subtasks would be useful and improved non-URL interconnectedness aren’t dealbreakers.

HOWEVER - and it’s a big HOWEVER - there is absolutely no excuse for a company in this modern app climate to charge MULTIPLE subscriptions for different devices. This feedback appears multiple times on your reviews and it is the reason I have permanently switched to ToDoist. I can even overlook the lack of windows / web versions MAYBE at a push.

When multiple popular apps switch to subscription models, it’s hard to avoid the concept. It is NOT hard to look at your pricing and switch - with respect, it is greedy and there are too many excellent competitors out there to rest on your laurels. It speaks poorly to your attitude to end-users and responsiveness to feedback.

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback on our payment models – we appreciate your frank thoughts. Just one correction: Things is **not** a subscription, there are no recurring costs at all with our app. On the contrary – Things is a one-time purchase per device type, and that's it. There are no hidden or recurring fees to surprise you.
  • This app is [nearly] perfect

I don’t say that lightly. My two requests:

    1) hide markup codes once editing is done
    2) add support to attachments

Other than that, goddamn perfect in my book.
  • Cannot attach photos to a To-Do List

Update: Nov 23, 2022. Still can’t import attachments as in most other To-Do apps. I guess this is better than nothing. Would have been a stellar app during the past century. I use it to keep random lists of items, but not as robust To-Do app. The simplicity of the app makes it easy to use for my limited purpose, so I haven’t deleted t from my iPhone/iPad.

I’ve always found this app a bit difficult to maneuver. Not impossible, just a bit busy for daily use. I started using it as a place saver for various links. Works fine for that purpose. It works out that I use this app about once every couple of months, so I will not be inclined to purchase Things 4 when released. The app does not allow a feature to attach a photo to a file. That’s a dealbreaker for me. The file system for creating sections (file subjects) helps organize thoughts. I imagine this would be enough for some people to make this a go-to To-Do app. Update: May 6, 2022 Still the same issues for me. The inability to quickly attach photos or documents to a To Do is a show stopper for me. Many other To Do style app do a much better job, and offer at a less expensive cost. It still is a good list app, but many of the features are either clumsy or missing. But, I’ve paid for it, so I’ll use it. Didn’t appear the developers plan to move the features into the 2020s anytime soon. The app is just ok.

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble navigating the app! If you haven’t noticed yet, you can pull down inside a list to reveal the keyboard and just start typing where you want to go. This is a fast way to jump between your lists. If you have more specific feedback, feel free to drop us a message through our website: thingsapp.com — thanks!
  • Waste of money

Apple reminder is more powerful. Don’t waste your money. You can’t even add picture inside your notes .You can’t choose past dates for old notes. Not any location options. Apple reminder free and so many options inside.
  • Minimalist yet sophisticated

You might think, “Well, what’s the point of a todo app? I can just write down what I gotta do and check it out when I need to!”

Question is, how fast can you do this simple thing? Really think about it! No other app has done that job for me as well as Things3.

Things3 has replaced Reminder app for me. I also do not send myself text messages about little details anymore.

It’s super light and yet makes almost no sacrifice

  • Using Things has changed how effective I feel in my life!

I have a lot of these style of apps on my phone and iPad and Apple Watch, by far ‘Things’ stands alone as the simplest way for me to add voice reminders and be so much more effective in achieving my goals. It’s elegant UI, it’s secure and privacy security allows me to use this very handy app across all of my devices, to feel like I have the back up memory to stay on top of errands, duties, bills that sometimes would have slipped past me. It just works for me where all the other apps I have tried to achieve this with failed to keep me engaging them. It’s so simple yet so effective. I really love this Things app and the results that I am getting in all areas of my life by utilising it.
